Microwave Cooking Safety Tips from the NFPA
•
Never leave cooking unattended.
•Read the manufacturer'sinstructions before using a microwave oven.
•Use only microwave-safe cookware (containers ordishes).
•Open microwaved food slowly, away from the face. Hot steam escaping
from a container or the food itself can cause burns.
•Never use aluminum foil or metal objects in a microwaveoven.
If you have a fire in your microwave, turn it off immediately and keep the
door closed. Never open the door until the fire is completely out. Have the
oven checked and/or serviced before being used again.
Note: National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) does not test, label or
approve any products.

D. Installation:
The Safe-T-sensor™ has two modules:
•
Sensor" (smoke sensor) and
•
Control box" (power supply box).
1.
Plug the "Control box" into a
grounded 120VAC receptacle,then
plug in the microwave power cord
into the "Control box".
2.
Attach the "Magnetized Sensor"to
the microwave unit just above or
beside the louver/vent slots. The
sensor has a built-in magnetic
mounting.
E.
Operation & Testing:
1.
LED on Sensor lights up after connecting power indicating the
Sensor is monitoring microwave.
2.
To test the operation, press test button on the Sensor module
and hold for 3 seconds. There will be beeping and LED will
flash indicating that the circuit is ready to detect smoke.
3.
If smoke is detected by the Sensor it will interrupt power to the
microwave, the LED will flash and the Sensor will beep for 5
seconds indicating that the cooking process has stopped and
then power to the microwave will be restored automatically
but cooking will not continue until attended to by the user.
4.
Do not immediately open Microwave when smoke is detected.
Visually check for fire, wait 5 minutes then remove contents
with heat protective gloves.
IMPORTANT:
1.
Microwave vents have been designed
andslantedtoexpelsmokeinaspecific
direction. It is important that the
magnetized sensor be positioned above
or beside these vents to ensure the
expelled smoke to pass directlyover/into
the sensor.
