Notes
1) In order to assure the output and measurement accuracy, the instrument should be preheated
for more than 30 min after switching on.
2) The power supply is AC 220V, 5A, 50Hz; DC or AC 380V is not allowed to inserted.
3) The Ethernet twisted signal cable is used to connect with PF3000. You are not allowed to pull
or shake the cable during online working.
4) The related software is run under Windows XP system.
5) After testing, PF3000 should be put in the package case. When cleaning the case, the power
supply should be cut off.
【Safety notes】
1) The power adaptor must have protective ground.
2) In order to prevent static electricity, the tester must be connected to ground before testing.
3) Any connector in front panel is not allowed to connect with ground.
4) When the device is working, the output signal cable is prohibited to plug out.
5) Disconnect the power supply before disconnecting cables.
6) Avoid electric shock accident when the output voltage is above 36V.
7) It’s not allowed to feed external voltage/current into the output side of tester.
8) The signal beyond measuring range should not be input at the measurement terminal.
9) Do not block the ventilation outlets.
10) Do not run the equipment in wet or condensing environment.
11) Do not switch-on and operate the equipment in the place having explosive gas or water vapor.
12) Avoid the equipment being wet by rain.
13) When the device works abnormally, please contact the factory and don’t try to fix by your own.

1. General Description
1.1
．
Functions and features
PF3000 is mainly used in DC convertor station AC filter, DC filter tuning characteristics test and
parameter test of R, L and C. It is also used in electrified railway HV filter, passive power filter
client and conventional AC substation reactive compensation device.
PF3000 mainly finishes the following testing items:
Amplitude-frequency and phase-frequency characteristics of power filter
L test of power reactor
C test of power capacitor
Z test of power filter for resistors
Unbalance vector measurement of H-bridge capacitor
PF3000 applies the advanced microelectronic and DSP technology including power signal source,
weak current signal detection and 0.5 class high accuracy voltage and current measurement.
It features in high accuracy, quick test speed and multiple test function. It solves the current
problems existing in power filter equipments.

POWER: POWER indicator lights when the power is supplied.
RUN: RUN indicator flickers or off when the kit is working.
OVERHEAT: when PF3000 is overheat or overload during output, the
OVERHEAT will light. It will automatically stop output while overheat. It is
suggested to continue working after the indicator turns off.

■Voltage output interface
Connect the voltage output interface with the test object.
■Voltage measurement interface
It connects with external voltage. Connect the voltage of test object with the voltage measurement
interface while doing test. Please note the RMS of voltage can’t be more than 70V otherwise the
kit will be damaged.
■Imbalance test interface
The interface is only used when testing unbalance current. Please refer to connection diagram in
Appendix A.
■Grounding terminal
In order to assure operator and kit’s safety, please connect the kit with ground before test.

2. Technical Parameters
PF3000 consists of frequency sinusoidal signal power source with low distortion rate,
measurement system and control system which has good measurement accuracy and
anti-interference ability.
2.1. Signal Source Parameters

Voltage output frequency: 5~5000Hz
Max. output current: 5A(RMS)
Short-circuit current within 30min: 5A(RMS)

2.3. Fault Protection
Overload protection: when the voltage output is short-circuit or overloaded, PF3000 will stop
working automatically. The alarm indicator in front panel will light, and the software will remind
overload fault.
Overheat protection: when the testing lasts too long at poor site condition, PF3000 will be
overheat and stop working automatically. The alarm indicator in front panel will light, and the

software will remind overheat fault.
2.4. Environment Conditions and Factors
The basic working conditions are for factory inspection and arbitral test. The rated working
conditions are for product adjustment and operation.

2.5. Safety Performance

3. Operation Guide
General Description
There are two working methods for PF3000: offline and PC connection. Offline method means
PF3000 can work independently without PC by controlling keyboard. It can finish all test items the
same as working with PC.
PC connection means PF3000 works with PC to finish test items.
Note: Offline and PC connection can both complete the same test items, but PC connection
method works faster than offline method.

The operation panel is the same as the front panel. Please refer to Front Panel part.
Main operation for offline: rotate mouse to control cursor. The functions of keys L and R are the
same as those of mouse. The number keys are used to set test parameters.

4.2 Parameter Description
4.2.1 Users set parameters
Frequency No.: Max. 8 frequency sections (5 can be set while offline operation) can be set
while making resistance-frequency and phase-frequency tests. Every termination value and
step of frequency section can be set separately. In order to improve test efficiency, frequency
section and step near resonance can be set short. The frequency step that frequency section
is far away from resonance can be set long.
Max. output voltage: it is only valid for resistance-frequency and phase-frequency tests. In
normal situation, PF3000 can output voltage. If the output current is more than 5A, in order to
assure instrument’s safety, it will decrease output voltage automatically to assure the current
within 5A.
Start frequency/Termination frequency/Step: Set the start and termination frequency and step.
Output voltage: Set the voltage output amplitude
Output frequency: User should set output frequency while making “L test”, “C test” and “Z
test”.
4.2.2. Parameters
Measured voltage: display the current output voltage.
U/I phase: display the phase differential between voltage and current
Measurement value: display the test results of “L test”, “C test” and “Z test”.
Imbalance rate K: the bigger the K is, the bigger the unbalanced rate. If the capacitance value
is the same, the K=0. The formula of Imbalance rate K is :

4.3. Toolbar Introduction
The toolbar of PF3000 is showing in the figure 4-8.

Run: Press , the kit outputs signals and starts to work. (Note: for the resistance-frequency
and phase-frequency characteristics test, users can measure each point according to the set
sub-frequency and each step by pressing .)
Scan: quick test and display the resistance-frequency and phase-frequency characteristics
within 5s by pressing to calculate the frequency and impedance value of harmonic
vibration point. The method is mainly used to evaluate the harmonic vibration point of filter
with unknown parameters. For the filter with knowing the parameters, users can check the
wiring connection according to resistance-frequency and phase-frequency characteristics.
“Save”: Press to save the test parameters of “Z/F test” (hft format)
“Open”: Press to open the test parameters (in hft format)
“Wave”: Press to display the actual voltage and current waveform, display the phase,
frequency and RMS information. Each voltage/current amplitude and time interval can be set
here.

“Save report”: Press , it generates Word and TXT format reports.
“Open report”: Press , it opens TXT format report.
“Emulation”: Calculate and display the ideal amplitude-frequency and phase-frequency
characteristic curve and harmonic vibration frequency and impedance according to
inductance, resistance and capacitance values by pressing .
