1 Introduction
1.1 Overview
MU (Merging unit) provides a group of current sample values of current and voltage that
are synchronous with time for intelligent electronic devices. The main function of it is to
obtain the instantaneous value of current and voltage from the electrical power system
according to collecting (or combining) the output signals from several mutual inductors,
and to transfer the value to electrical measurement equipment of electric power system
and protecting equipment using a certain qualitative data. Because MU carries important
functions for collecting, combining and transferring the front data of electric system
secondary equipment, the effective test for function and performance of it has been a
significant part of testing work for Intelligent Station.
POM2-3333 MU test specializes in MU subject test. Aiming at Intelligent Station’s present
difference of the real project’s design and suggestion, this device can give effective tests
for electronic type mutual inductor input, EMS type mutual inductor input and both type
hybrid input MU.Afterwards it can satisfy all kinds of test requests for MU in real projects.

1.3 Main functions
Accuracy test
In the condition of not changing any connection, it can give test to all the output
of MU, amplitude error of current channel, phase error, frequency error and
composite error, then assess the results and give a conclusion of the test
automatically.
Message response time test
It can give test to the time of message response and the error of response time
(absolute signal delay).
Abnormal SMV and GOOSE analysis
It can do real-time analyze and statistics for the exceptions that will influence
MU’s normal work, such as frame drop, disordering, repeat, out-of-step, SN
deviation, and abnormal quality etc.
It can do real-time analysis and statistics for the exceptions that will influence
MU’s proper work, such as time of GOOSE deflection, time of TEST deflection,
Sq loss, Sq repeating, St loss, St repeating, code error, invalid survival time,
communication-timeout recovering time, and communication-outage recovering
time, etc.
SMV frame Interval analysis
Do real-time statistic on SMV interval.
The synchronization performance test
Provide a function of clock test, and high-precision test to MU’s time precision
and time accuracy.
The voltage concatenation and switching test
Can send disconnector place according GOOSE message or binary contact, and
finish the test of PT voltage concatenation of MU and transferring of voltage.
SMV waveform
Draw the sample value packet in real-time wave form using for analyze current,
voltage, phase, etc.
Power measuring error test
Theoretical value, measured value and error value that all include active power,
reactive power, apparent power, pharos, power factors.
