CALVING PEN OPERATION AND WORKING PARTS
The Calving Pen is designed to help
provide safety and accessibility during the
calving process. As part of the design
there are two split gates located on the
side and center of the Pen as shown in
figure 4. The top sections of the split gates
allow access to the top and mid section of
the animal, for convenience when it is
necessary to perform a C-Section. The
bottom sections of the split gates can be
moved out of the way to allow and help
the new calf to begin nursing.
NOTE: Bearings are fitted with grease
fittings. Lubricate as necessary for a
smooth operation.
Headgate Operations
Before running any animals through the
headgate, put the gate in the holding
position, to adjust the width of the
Stanchion covers, as shown in figure 5.
There are two pins on each stanchion
cover that hold the cover in one of three
width positions. To adjust the width
opening of the Stanchion covers remove
the top pins and raise the bottom pins.
Now the covers can slide in or out to
adjust them to the proper width as needed.
Be sure to secure the pin in place before
continuing.
NOTE: The neck opening must
correspond with the neck size of the
animals being caught.
