WARNING Handling livestock can be unpredictable
and or dangerous. Using equipment properly may limit
the risk of injury; however, be aware of the limitaons
of equipment. Cale equipment may provide a safer,
more ecient working environment, however, even the
best equipment is no replacement for smart and safe
livestock handling.
The M1500 squeeze chute is packaged for shipping, a few tasks will
need to be performed to ready the chute for handling cale.
Setup Overview
1. Remove any banding, wrap, or es.
2. Use a ¾” wrench to loosen the tailgate retenon tab. Loosen tab unl it
can be maneuvered freely.
3. Follow headgate handle installaon procedure.
4. Loosen kickpan tab bolts. The tabs should move freely.
5. Adjust chute oor to desired width.
6. Test headgate, tailgate, and center squeeze to ensure proper operaon.
All bolts are ghtened for shipping, some bolts will need to
be loosened to properly operate the chute.
Side-exit, safety pin should be in locked posion when not ex-
ing animals through the side exit. Stand clear when the using
side exit.(page 7)

Forklift Lift Points
Exercise cauon when moving the chute with a forkli or by
any other manner. There are mechanisms that can be dam-
aged and/or broken.
DAMAGE CAUSED BY LIFTING OR MOVING THE CHUTE IS
NOT COVERED IN THE LIMITED WARRANTY.
Aer moving equipment, inspect squeeze, headgate, and
tailgate funconality to ensure that they operate correctly.
Addional products may have been banded to the chute for
shipping; all banding and products should be removed prior
to use.
CAUTION
Carefully li chute with a forkli by placing forks through or in
between the drop ngers on the chute squeeze. Use cauon as
parts of the chute may extend past the frame and can be damaged.
Ensure that chute is balanced on the li points. Dierent opons may
change center point.
LIFTING FROM THE TOP RAILS MAY DAMAGE THE SQUEEZE MECHANISM.

M1500 Headgate Setup
The M1500 headgate linkage will be parally assembled and
placed inside the chute for shipping. The handle assembly is
installed by placing the assembly (A) into the chute chassis and
aaching the linkage points (B)(C) to the stanchion covers. Open
the headgate and ensure that both sides are at their widest point,
ghten square head set screws (D).
All Powder River Squeeze chutes are equipped with a side exit.
This important feature is crical for the safe release of a animal in
distress. It can also be employed to exit animals for sorng pur-
poses. The side exit is actuated with a handle connected to a rope
on operators side of the chute. Pull handle to release gate.
The side exit on the 1500 series chute employs a safety pin to
prevent accidental actuaon. When someone is working on the
‘side exit’ side of the chute it is crical that this pin be in place to
prevent accidental opening of the chute side.

Ensure fastening hardware is secure. Nylock washers should
have thread showing past the nylon bushing. The square
head setscrews need to be rmly snug so as not to allow
movement of the handle assembly.
CAUTION
Side-exit, safety pin should be in locked posion when not
exing animals through the side exit. Stand clear when the
using side exit.

1. Raise the Floor Adjustment Retainer.
2. Slide squeeze side to desired placement.
3. Lower the Floor Adjustment Retainer fully to secure squeeze
side.
Pre-Operaon Checklist
Begin with the tailgate closed.
Adjust the width of the chute oor to the size of the animal
(see Floor Adjustment), use a narrower seng for smaller
animals and a wider seng for larger animals.
Open the center squeeze to its widest posion.
Adjust headgate to desired width to allow the head to pass
through but catch by the front shoulders.

alley and the chute.

Operation
1. Open the tailgate to allow animal to enter chute.
2. Catch the head of the animal in the headgate.
3. Close tailgate.
4. Apply the center squeeze.
5. To release, open center squeeze then headgate.
Alternately ulize the side exit.
The chute oor is easier to adjust when the sides are
in the vercal posion.
If desired, the front or back width of the oor can be
set independent of each other.
NOTICE When transporng the chute, ensure the Floor adjust-
ment Retainer is in the down posion.

Headgate Controls
The Headgate handle is used to close the headgate and apply
leverage to ensure a ght catch. To open headgate the release
handle is moved upward. When catching animals do not place a
hand on the release handle to avoid unintended headgate open-
ings.

Manual Controls
Drop Fingers
The drop ngers on the chute are
ulized by pushing up the slam latch
and dropping the tube.
Tailgate Operaon
Tailgate is opened by releasing
the retenon latch and manually
rolling the door toward the opera-
tor. When gate is closed replace
the retenon latch.
Kick Pans
Lower the kick pan by moving both tabs
to a horizontal posion and pulling out
on the pan.
Kick pans can be completely removed
if desired by liing the pan out of the
retainer braces.
CAUTION
When operang the chute with livestock keep all
people and body parts out of the path of the headgate
handle. Check for wear on the squeeze mechanism
and release lever condion before every working
session. Replace parts as necessary.

CAUTION
When releasing the center squeeze with livestock in
the chute, the center squeeze handle may rotate up
unexpectedly when headgate handle release is being
actuated. Place hand on squeeze handle to control
release.

Maintenance Schedule
Before Every Working Session
Lubricaon The M1500 Manual Chute may require lubricaon from
me to me. Apply as needed.
Inspecon Inspect chute for broken, worn or damaged parts.
Ensure that the headgate, tailgate, squeeze, and side
exit operate smoothly and close securely.
Check bolts, springs, linkages, and latches, to make sure
the chute is in good working order.
Before AND Aer Every Working Session
Clean Clean the chute oor, headgate and tailgate from dirt,
manure or any other debris to keep chute in good work-
ing order.
As Needed
Inspecon Check for damage that may have been caused by transit,
livestock, and/or weather.
Inspect the chute for any damage that may cause harm
to operator or animal.
