Chair Preparations

All of the replacement instructionsrequire safety precautionsprior to performing service to the mobility device. These
precautionsare set in place not only to ensure the safety of the technician but for the end user as well. The replace-
ment instructionsin the guide will refer back to thissection to set-up the product prior to service.
1. Turn off power to the joystick.

I. Foot Platform/Front Battery Door and Rear Electronics Door
1. Turn off power to the joystick.
2. Ensure the unit is in drive mode.
Tools Required:
- None
- Front Battery Door Removal/Installation:
3. Flip up the foot platform (if applicable), squeeze the release levers and lift the front battery door off of the frame.
4. Reverse step 3 for installation.
- Rear Electronics Door Removal/Installation:
5. From the rear of the unit, loosen the lower thumb screws and gently pull up on the rear door.
6. Reverse step 5 for installation.

II. Centre Panel and Top Shroud
1. Turn off power to the joystick.
2. Ensure the unit is in drive mode.
Tools Required:
- Phillips Screwdriver
- Centre Panel Removal/Installation:
3. Remove the rear electronics door. See Section I.
4. From the rear of the unit, gently pull up on the centre panel to loosen the reusable fasteners. Lift off the centre panel.
5. Reverse steps 3 and 4 for installation.
- Top Shroud Removal/Installation:
6. Remove the front battery door and the rear electronics door. See Section I.
7. Remove the centre panel
8. Remove the seating system and trapeze bars if equipped.
9. Remove the 4 screws that attach the top shroud to the main frame.
10. Reverse steps 6 to 9 for installation.

III. Run Flat Drive Wheel
1. Turn off power to the joystick.
2. Ensure the unit is in drive mode.
3. Prop up the side of the unit being serviced.
Tools Required:
- Imperial and Metric Socket Set
- Calibrated Torque Spanner/Wrench
- 5 Spoke Hub Run Flat Drive Wheel Removal/Installation:
4. Remove the 5 lug nuts that connect the rim to the hub.
5. Pull the wheel assembly straight off of the hub.
6. Reverse steps 4 and 5 for installation. Torque the replacement lug nuts to 25 N • m (18.4 ft • lb).

IV. Front/Rear Castor Assembly
1. Turn off power to the joystick.
2. Ensure the unit is in drive mode.
3. Prop up the side of the unit being serviced.
Tools Required:
- Imperial and Metric Socket Set
- Imperial and Metric Spanner Set
- Calibrated Torque Spanner/Wrench
- Flathead Screwdriver
- Needlenose Pliers
4. Pry off the castor barrel cap.
5. With a spanner and socket remove the upper nut securing the assembly in the castor barrel.
6. With needlenose pliers, remove the washer and shim from the castor barrel.
7. Slide the castor assembly out of the castor barrel.
8. Reverse steps 4 to 7 for installation. Torque the nut to 30 N • m (21.7 ft • lb).

V. Articulating Beam
1. Turn off power to the joystick.
2. Ensure the unit is in drive mode.
3. Prop up the rear of the unit.
Tools Required:
- Metric Socket Set
- Metric Spanner Set
- Calibrated Torque Spanner/Wrench
- Flathead Screwdriver
4. Remove the hex head screw, washers, and nutsthat secures the arm to the base.
5. Reverse step 4 for installation. Torque the nut to 40 N • m (30 ft • lb).

VI. Drive Motor
1. Turn off power to the joystick.
2. Ensure the unit is in drive mode.
3. Prop up the side of the unit being serviced.
Tools Required:
- Imperial and Metric Socket Set
- Calibrated Torque Spanner/Wrench
- Imperial and Metric Hex Key Set
- Phillips Screwdriver
- Wire Cutters
4. Remove the 4 spoke or 5 spoke hub drive wheel. Retain
all hardware. See Section III.
5. If the replacement drive motor does not contain a
replacement hub, remove the nut and washer that secures
the hub to the motor shaft and loosen the setscrew on the
hub. Slide the hub off of the motor shaft. ***The Axle Key
may shift out of place on the motor shaft. Make sure the
Axle Key is retained.***
6. Remove the screws that connect the fender shroud to
the motor bracket.
7. Loosen the 2 setscrews that hold the freewheel release
linkage to the motor and gently pull it off the release shaft.
8. Remove the rear electronics door. See Section I.

VI. Drive Motor
9. Disconnect the desired motor harness from the power
module.
10. Carefully cut the cableties that may secure the motor
harness to the main battery harness.
11. Remove the 6 screws that connect the motor assembly
to the motor bracket.
12. Connect the replacement motor assembly to the motor
bracket with the screws retained from step 11. Torque the
screws to 7 N • m (5 ft • lb).
13. Route the motor harness and reconnect to the power
module. Secure with cableties.
14. Reverse steps 4 to 8 to complete installation. Torque
the lug nuts to 25 N • m (18.4 ft • lb).

VII. Foot Platform
1. Turn off power to the joystick.
2. Ensure the unit is in drive mode.
Tools Required:
- Metric Socket Set
- Metric Spanner Set
3. To ease service, remove the front battery door with the foot platform attached. See Section I.
4. Remove the hardware that connects the footplate height adjustment bracket to the front battery door. Torque the
hardware to 25 N • m (18.4 ft • lb).
5. Reverse steps 3 and 4 for installation.

VIII. Batteries
1. Turn off power to the joystick.
2. Ensure the unit is in drive mode.
Tools Required:
- Metric Socket Set
- Metric Spanner Set
3. Remove the front battery door. See Section I.
4. Disconnect the quick disconnect harnesses and remove the batteries.
5. Following the battery wiring diagram on the inside of the front battery door and one battery at a time, remove the bat-
tery harness and attach it to the replacement battery.
6. Place the batteries back inside the unit.
7. Reconnect the quick disconnect harnesses and replace the front battery door.

IX. Joystick
1. Turn off power to the joystick.
2. Ensure the unit is in drive mode.
Tools Required:
- Phillips Screwdriver
- Wire Cutters
3. Disconnect the joystick harness from the bus extension cable that is located near the back of the unit. Cableties may
need to be cut to free the joystick cable.
4. Flip up the armrest and remove the 2 mounting screws on the mounting bracket.
5. Reverse steps 3 and 4 for installation. Replace any cableties.

X. Power Module
1. Turn off power to the joystick.
2. Ensure the unit is in drive mode.
Tools Required:
- Phillips Screwdriver
3. Remove the rear electronics door. See Section I.
4. Remove the 2 screws that secure the power module to
the frame.
5. One at a time, disconnect the motor, power, bus, and
PTO/run plug harnesses and connect them to the replace-
ment power module.
6. Reverse steps 3 and 4 to complete installation.

XI. Battery/Power Harness and Circuit Breaker
1. Turn off power to the joystick.
2. Ensure the unit is in drive mode.
3. Disconnect the joystick and all harnesses
that connect to the power base.
Tools Required:
- Phillips Screwdriver
- Wire Cutters
- Imperial and Metric Spanner Set
4. Remove the seat or seating system.
5. Remove the front battery door and the rear electronics
door. See Section I.
6. Disconnect the battery quick disconnect harnesses and
remove the batteries. See Section IX.
7. Remove the top panel and the top shroud. See Section
II.
8. Disconnect the battery harness from the power module.
9. Pull back the boots on the circuit breaker to remove the
2 screws and lock washers that attach the battery harness
to the circuit breaker.
10. Make note of the wiretie locations and cut the wireties
that secure the battery harness to the main frame and the
other harnesses.
11. Route the replacement battery harness through the
centre of the unit and connect to the power module and
the circuit breaker.
12. Apply all replacement wireties
13. Reverse steps 3 to 7 to complete installation.
14. To remove the circuit breaker, unscrew the reset button
cover and disconnect the battery harness from the rear.
See step 9.
