I.IntroductiontoAir‐Q1100

TheAir‐Q1100applianceisanairtreatmentsystemforinteriorspacesservedbyaductedHVACair
handlingsystem(“HVAC”).TheAir‐Q1100deliversafragranceorairtreatmentagent(“Agents”)
intotheairflowoftheHVACsystemeitherthroughthecentralfanunit(CFU)oratsuitable
locationsinthebranchedductwork.Itisdesignedforpermanentinstallationontheoutsideor
insideoftheCFU.

TheAir‐Q1100ismanagedbyanon‐boardcomputerthatisfullyprogrammableforspacesizes
from1,000to250,000cubicfeetperapplianceandoneormoreintensitylevelsinthesameday.
MultipleappliancescanworktogetheronthesameormultipleCFUstotreattheairinthesame
spacesservedbytheHVAC.Inthisway,thereisnolimitationonthesizeofthespacethatcanbe
servedbyAir‐Q1100.

Air‐Q1100requireslittletonomaintenanceexceptperiodiccleaningforappearance.Installations
ofAir‐Q1100aredesignedsothattheconsumptionoftheconsumableCartridgesofAgent
(“Cartridges”)requiresreplacementnomorefrequentlythanonceamonth.

TypicalAir‐Q1100applicationsincludeairtreatmentforodorremediation,scentbrandingand
ambientscentinginpublicspacessuchascasinos,malls,hotels,theaters,ballrooms,convention
centers,hospitals,andrestrooms.

TheAir‐Q1100generatesultrafine,ultra‐lightdropletsapproximately500nanometersin
diameter.Bycomparison,adropletfromapressurizedaerosolis50microns(50000nanometers)in
diameteror166timeslargerthananAir‐Q1100droplet.Intermsofweightandvolumeofliquid,
thecomparisonisevenmoredramatic.A50‐micronaerosoldropletis4.6milliontimesheavier
thana300‐nanometerAir‐Qdroplet.1ThistinyAir‐Qdropletoffersmanyperformancebenefits
overaconventionalaerosolincluding:completelyuniformdistributionofthetreatmentagent;100
timesmoreexposedsurfaceareaallowinguseofmuchlessairtreatmentagentpercubicfoot;and
theabsenceofanyliquiddepositsonsurfacessuchastheinteriorsurfacesinaHVACsystem.

TheAir‐Q1100Guideispackedwithimportantinformationthatwillhelptheusers,installersand
serviceengineersoptimizetheperformanceofthismodernairtreatmentsystem.Weencourage
youtoreaditcarefully.


Air‐Q1100isusedwithproprietaryfragrancesandodorremediationagents(“Agents”)toenhance
indoorairqualitybyerasingodorsandintroducingscent.Thisisaccomplishedbyconvertingliquid‐
stateAgentsintoultra‐finedropletsandinjectingthemintothemintotheHVACsystemtoblend
withtheairflow.Usedasdirected,theconcentrationofAgentintheairwillusuallybelessthan1
partpermillion(<1ppm).Thismeansthatforevery1,000,000moleculesofair,lessthan1
moleculeisairtreatmentAgent.TheAir‐Q1100’sdropletsareabout500nanometersindiameter
(halfamicron).Adropletofthissizepresents10,000timesmoresurfaceareatotheairthanthe
sameamountofliquidina50‐micronaerosoldroplet.TheAir‐Qdropletis1/1,000,000ththeweight
ofanaerosoldroplet.Thismeansthedropletsbehaveasiftheyweredry,donotleaveanyresidue
onthebladesorinteriorductsurfacesandcreatescenteffectwithconcentrationssolowitus
unlikelytotriggerallergicresponse.

TherearetwobasicapplicationsforAir‐Q1100:ambientscentingandodorremediation.TheAir‐Q
1100deliverysystemandProlitec’sproprietaryairtreatmentchemistrycandobothatthesame
timeoreitheronealone.

1.AmbientScenting
AmbientScentingistheuseoftheAir‐Q1100todeliverascenttocreateamoodor
ambience,associateascentwithabrand,enhanceavisualthemeorsimplymakeaspace
morepleasantforitsoccupants.

2.OdorControl
OdorControlistheuseofAir‐Q1100andspecialairtreatmentchemistrytoneutralize
odorsbyblockingcertainmalodorsthusallowingtheintroductionofverysmallquantities
offragranceintotheair.Normalairfreshenerssimplyusefragrancetodouseamalodor.


II.SafetyPrecautions

A.Air‐Q1100AppliancePrecautions:

• Theappliancemustbeoperatedinanuprightorverticalpositionandfirmlyattachedtoa
verticalsurfacesuchasawalloraduct.

• TheapplianceshouldNOTbeusedwiththedoorintheopenposition.Thedoorisopened
onlytoperformacartridgeorprogramchange.

• NEVERputyournosetotheoutputofAir‐Q.Within12inchesoftheoutput,thefragranceis
highlyconcentrated.Theimproperinhalationofhighconcentrationsoffragrancemaycause
irritationincludingwateryeyes,headache,coughandupperrespiratorydiscomfort.

• Theapplianceisbuilttobepluggedintoan110VACor220VACpoweroutlet.TheULandCE
compliantpowersupplyconvertspowerto12VDCtopowertheappliance.

• Unplugbeforecleaning.


B.Air‐QCartridgePrecautions 

• ReadtheProductSafetyInformationSheetandtheMaterialSafetyDataSheetenclosed
providedwitheachshipmentofCartridges.Insurethattheseinformationsheetsare
availableforreviewbyemployees

• UselatexglovestohandleaCartridgetoavoidtheliquidgettingonhands.TheAgentsare
formulatedsoastonotbeharmfulincontactwiththeskin,buttheconcentratednatureof
theagentsmakesthescentdifficulttoremovefromhandsandskin.

• WashyourhandsafterallcontactwithCartridgesorfragranceandairtreatmentagents.

• CartridgesmustbeprovidedbyandcontainAirTreatmentAgentformulationswhichhave
beencertifiedbyProlitec.

• WhileAir‐QAirTreatmentAgentsdonotcontainingredientsdeemedharmfultotheskin,if
thereisskincontact,washwithsoapandwater.Ifthereiscontactwiththeeyes,irrigate
theeyewithfreshwaterfor5minutes.Ifthereisanyeyeirritation,consultaphysician
immediately.
