INTRODUCTION
The 6,000W Shop Heater has a duel heating system with an
adjustable temperature control. Heated air flow is controlled
with louvers. The unit has an automatic cut-off switch and
flashing alarm when overheated.

PERSONAL SAFETY
WARNING! Wear personal protective equipment approved by
the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or American
National Standards Institute (ANSI).
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
1. Always wear impact safety goggles that provide front and
side protection for the eyes. Eye protection equipment
should comply with CSA Z94.3-07 or ANSI Z87.1 standards
based on the type of work performed.

2. Wear protective clothing designed for the work
environment and tool.
3. Non-skid footwear is recommended to maintain footing
and balance in the work environment.
4. Wear steel toe footwear or steel toe caps to prevent a foot
injury from falling objects.
PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS
Control the tool, personal movement and the work
environment to avoid personal injury or damage to the tool.
1. Do not operate any tool when tired or under the influence
of drugs, alcohol or medications.
2. Do not overreach when operating the tool. Proper footing
and balance enables better control in unexpected situations.
SPECIFIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
WARNING! DO NOT let comfort or familiarity with product
(gained from repeated use) replace strict adherence to the
tool safety rules. If you use this tool unsafely or incorrectly,
you can suffer serious personal injury.
1. Use the correct tool for the job. This tool was designed for
a specific function. Do not modify or alter this tool or use it
for an unintended purpose.
2. Do not use the tool if any parts are damage broken or
misplaced. Repair or replace the parts.
3. The heater becomes hot during operation. Severe thermal
burns can occur on contact. Keep combustible materials at
least 3 feet (0.9 m) away the heater while operating.
3.1 Do not place anything on the heater while it is running.
4. Mount the heater no closer than 1 ft (0.3 m) from the wall
and ceiling or 4.5 in. (11.5 cm) from the rear wall. The heater
should be at least 8 ft (2.4 m) from the floor.

5. Always switch off the heater when not in use.
6. Do not operate the heater if it malfunctions, was dropped
or damaged in any manner. Disconnect power and have the
heater inspected and repaired by a qualified electrician.
7. Do not use this heater outdoors.
8. Do not block air intakes or exhaust to prevent a possible
fire hazard.
9. Shut the heater off if the alarm flashes and switch the
circuit breaker off between 5 and 10 minutes to cool.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
WARNING! Do not touch or handle a live tool with any part of your
body that is wet or damp. Wet skin reduces resistance to electrical
current, increasing the danger of a serious or fatal shock.
WARNING! To reduce risk of electric shock, be certain that the
plug is connected to a properly grounded receptacle.
1. Disconnect tool from power source before cleaning,
servicing, changing parts/accessories or when not in use.
2. Protect yourself against electric shocks when working on
electrical equipment. Avoid body contact with grounded
surfaces. There is an increased chance of electrical shock if
your body is grounded.
3. Do not expose the tool to rain or wet conditions. Water
entering a tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
4. In the event of a power failure, turn off the machine as soon
as the power is interrupted. The possibility of accidental
injury could occur if the power returns and the unit is not
switched off.
5. Do not alter any parts of the tool or accessories. All parts
and accessories are designed with built-in safety features
that may be compromised if altered.

6. Make certain the power source conforms to requirements
of your equipment (see Specifications).
7. When wiring an electrically driven device, follow all
electrical and safety codes, as well as the most recent
Canadian Electrical Code (CE) and Canadian Centre for
Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS).
WARNING! All wiring should be performed by a qualified
electrician.
UNPACKING
WARNING! Do not operate the tool if any part is missing.
Replace the missing part before operating. Failure to do so
could result in a malfunction and personal injury.
Remove the parts and accessories from the packaging and inspect
for damage. Make sure that all items in the contents are included.

ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION
Letter references in parenthesis (A) refer to the included
Identification Key.
HEATER INSTALLATION
1. Keep the unit at least 8 feet (2.4 m) away from the floor.
This minimum distance must be maintained.
2. Do not install closer than 1 foot (or 0.3 m) to any adjacent
vertical surfaces or walls.
3. Keep at least 4.5 inches (11.5 cm)
from the back wall (with or
without using the wall hanging
mounting bracket).
4. Mark the drill-hole positions in the
wall or ceiling for the mounting
bracket (Fig. 2).
5. Drill the required holes with a diameter fit for the anchor
provided for positioning the mounting bracket.
6. Insert the anchors.
7. Hook the unit to the mounting
bracket and let the unit hang from
the mounting bracket (Fig. 3).

mounting bracket and the heater
handle, tighten the nut.

ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION
WARNING! Only a qualified electrician should wire the shop
heater to the power source. You may suffer a serious or fatal
electric shock. Failure to properly connect the heater to a
power source may cause a fire.
The shop heater must connect to the correct power source (see
Specifications). A wiring diagram is provided in Appendix A.
The power supply cable require a minimum 8/2 gauge copper
wire connected to a 35 amp circuit breaker. This must be on an
individual branch circuit as the main power cutoff switch to the
heater. This circuit breaker must be within line in sight and can
be locked in the open position.
1. Loosen the screw to remove the wiring
compartment/ connection cover in the
rear of the heater (Fig. 4).
2. Run the electrical power supply cable
in flexible conduit and connect to the
wiring compartment via the knock-out
at back side of the unit.
3. Connect the power supply cord with connectors that are
appropriate for the conductor size.
4. Replace the wiring compartment/connection cover and
lock it in place with the screw.
5. Wire the other end of the power supply cord to the
electric panel.
OPERATION
IMPORTANT! When the unit is first powered ON, there may be a
crackling sound, a trace of smoke or a burning odour. This is due to
a drop of oil dripping onto the heating coil during manufacturing.
The oil drop will evaporate and this should not re-occur.

1. Position the unit to cover the desired area.
1.1 Rotate the unit on the hanging bracket.
1.2 Loosen the tilt adjustable knob (B) and tilt the unit.
Retighten the knob.
1.3 Adjust the louvers (D) to direct the air flow.
2. Power the unit ON by pushing the breaker switch to the
active position.
3. Press the rocker switch (H) to either low (3,000W) or
high (6,000W).
4. Turn the temperature setting knob (I) to the highest level.
The fan will blow the heated air into the room. When the
room temperature is comfortable, slowly turn the knob
counterclockwise until the heater shuts OFF. The heater will
automatically restart when the room temperature drops
below this set point.
5. Trip the circuit breaker to turn the heater OFF.
OVERHEAT ALARM
The unit has a thermal cut-off protection switch that will trip if
the unit overheats. The alarm LED (G) will also flash. Trip the
circuit breaker to shut the unit OFF. Wait for the unit to cool for
10 minutes.
Inspect surrounding structure adjacent to the heater for
damage. Also check to ensure there is nothing around the unit
that could trap heat and cause the overheating.
Flip the circuit breaker to the active setting and wait for the
unit to heat up. Consult with a qualified electrician if the
thermal cut-off protection trips again.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
WARNING! There are no parts that require user maintenance.
Only qualified service personnel should repair the tool. An
improperly repaired tool may present a hazard to the user
and/or others.
1. Maintain the tool with care. A tool in good condition is
efficient, easier to control and will have fewer problems.
2. Inspect the tool components periodically. Repair or replace
damaged or worn components. Only use identical
replacement parts when servicing.
3. Maintain the tool’s labels and name plates. These carry
important information. If unreadable or missing, contact
Princess Auto Ltd. for replacements.
CLEANING
Do not use cleaning liquid or other chemicals to spray on the unit.
1. Disconnect power supply at source. Switch off the circuit
breaker.
2. Wait 60 minutes to ensure the heating element has cooled
down. Your heater is now ready for cleaning.
3. Remove interior dust with a vacuum cleaner. Use the
crevice tool attachment.
4. Clean the exterior with a slightly damp cloth. Allow the unit
to dry completely before using it.
WARNING! Do not allow water to run into the interior of the
heater, as this could create a fire or electric shock hazard,
damaging the unit.
DISPOSAL
Recycle a tool damaged beyond repair at the appropriate facility.
Contact your local municipality for a list of disposal facilities or
by-laws for electronic devices, batteries, oil or other toxic liquids.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Visit a Princess Auto Ltd. location for a solution if the tool does
not function properly or parts are missing. If unable to do so,
have a qualified technician service the tool.

INTRODUCTION
L’appareil de chauffage utilitaire de 6 000 W comporte un
système de chauffage double avec commande de réglage de la
température. Le débit d’air chauffé est contrôlé par des

1. Utilisez le bon outil pour la tâche à effectuer. Cet outil a été

3. L’appareil de chauffage devient chaud lorsqu’il fonctionne.
Des brûlures thermiques graves peuvent se produire lors
d’un contact. Tenez toute matière combustible à au moins
0,9 m (3 pi) de l’appareil de chauffage pendant son
fonctionnement.
3.1 Évitez de déposer tout article sur l’appareil de
chauffage pendant qu’il est en marche.
4. Montez l’appareil de chauffage à au moins 0,3 m (1 pi) du
mur ou du plafond, ou à 11,5 cm (4,5 po) du mur arrière.
L’appareil de chauffage doit être à au moins 2,4 m (8 pi) du
plancher.
5. Débranchez toujours l’appareil de chauffage lorsqu’il n’est
pas en service.
6. N’utilisez pas l’appareil de chauffage en cas de
fonctionnement anormal ou s’il a été échappé ou
endommagé d’une quelconque façon. Débranchez et faites
vérifier et réparer l’appareil de chauffage par un électricien
qualifié.
7. N’utilisez pas cet appareil de chauffage à l’extérieur.
8. Pour prévenir tout risque d’incendie, ne bouchez pas les
orifices d’admission d’air ou d’échappement.
9. Si le témoin lumineux de surchauffe clignote, éteignez
l’appareil de chauffage et coupez le disjoncteur pendant 5
à 10 minutes pour que l’appareil refroidisse.

SÉCURITÉ EN ÉLECTRICITÉ
AVERTISSEMENT ! Ne touchez et ne manipulez pas un outil sous
tension avec une partie du corps qui est mouillée ou humide. La
peau humide réduit la résistance au courant électrique,
augmentant ainsi le risque de choc grave ou mortel.
AVERTISSEMENT ! Pour réduire les risques de choc
électrique, assurez-vous que la fiche est branché dans une
prise de courant correctement mise à la masse.
1. Déconnectez l'outil de la source d'énergie avant le
nettoyage, l'entretien, le remplacement de pièces ou
d'accessoires ou lorsqu'il n'est pas utilisé.
2. Protégez-vous contre les chocs électriques lorsque vous
travaillez en présence d'équipement électrique. Évitez le
contact entre votre corps et les surfaces reliées à la terre. Il
y a un risque plus élevé de choc électrique si votre corps
est mis à la terre.
3. Les outils ne doivent jamais être exposés à la pluie ou à une
forte humidité. Si l'eau pénètre à l'intérieur d'un outil, le
risque de choc électrique devient beaucoup plus grand.
4. Advenant une panne de courant, fermez l'appareil dès que
le courant est interrompu. Il pourrait y avoir un risque de
blessure accidentelle advenant le retour du courant alors
qu'on n'a pas fermé l'appareil.
5. Ne modifiez aucune partie de l'outil ou des accessoires.
Toutes les pièces et tous les accessoires sont conçus avec
des dispositifs de sécurité intégrés qui seront compromis
s'ils sont modifiés.
6. Assurez-vous que la source d'énergie est conforme aux
exigences de votre équipement (consulter les spécifications).
7. Au moment de câbler un appareil électrique, respectez
tous les codes en matière d'électricité et de sécurité, ainsi
que les versions les plus récentes du Code canadien de
l'électricité (CE) et du code du Centre canadien d'hygiène
et de sécurité au travail (CCHST).
