INTRODUCTION
The TRUBLU Blue Lens 8000X Auto-Darkening Welding Helmet
incorporates Blue Lens technology, letting the welder to see the full colour
spectrum with clarity while in the light state. External controls allow the
welder to adjust the DIN shade number, plus the delay and sensitivity
timing without removing the helmet.

The operator must follow basic precautions to reduce the risk of
personal injury and/or damage to the equipment.
Keep this manual for safety warnings, precautions, operating or inspection
and maintenance instructions.
WORK AREA
1. Operate in a safe work environment. Keep your work area clean, well-
lit and free of distractions. Place lights so you are not working in a
shadow.
2. Keep anyone not wearing the appropriate safety equipment away
from the work area.
3. Store tools properly in a safe and dry location. Keep tools out of the
reach of children.
PERSONAL SAFETY
WARNING! Wear personal protective equipment approved by the
Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or American National Standards
Institute (ANSI).
Control the tool, personal movement and the work environment to avoid
personal injury or damage to the tool.
1. Always wear impact safety goggles that provide front and side
protection for the eyes. Eye protection equipment should comply
with CSA Z94.3-07 or ANSI Z87.1 standards based on the type of work
performed.
2. Do not operate any tool when tired or under the influence of drugs,
alcohol or medications.

SPECIFIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
WARNING! The Auto-Darkening Welding Helmet does not protect against
severe impact hazards, explosions or corrosive liquids. Machine guards or
eye splash protection must be used when these hazards are present.
WARNING! Using filter forms from any other manufacturer’s helmet can
seriously impaired the protection provided and may result in serious
personal injury.
WARNING! DO NOT let comfort or familiarity with product (gained from
repeated use) replace strict adherence to the tool safety rules. If you use
this tool unsafely or incorrectly, you can suffer serious personal injury.
1. Use the correct tool for the job. This tool was designed for a specific
function. Do not modify or alter this tool or use it for an unintended
purpose.
2. Do not use the tool if any parts are damaged, broken or misplaced.
Repair or replace the parts.
3. This auto-darkening welding helmet is not recommended for
overhead welding applications, laser welding or laser cutting
applications.
4. This welding helmet is not suitable to laser welding and oxy-acetylene
welding.
5. In the event of electronic failure, the filter remains dark to protect
against UV and IR radiation according to Shade 15.
6. The auto-darkening welding filter should always be used with
original inner and outer cover lenses. Never open or tamper with
the filter cartridge.
7. Ensure the front cover lens is mounted before use and remove the
protective film.
8. Ensure that the lens is clean and there is no dirt or spatter covering
the four sensors at the front of the filter cartridge.
9. Inspect all parts for signs of wear or damage. Any scratched or
cracked parts should be replaced prior to use.
10. Never place the helmet on a hot surface.
11. Arc rays can burn both eyes and skin. Arc welding produces intense
visible and invisible (ultraviolet and infrared) rays. Wear a welding
helmet fitted with the proper shade to protect your face and eyes
when welding or watching.

12. Check whether welding or grinding mode is chosen before use.
13. The reaction of the filter’s liquid crystal will be slower if the ambient
temperature is low, but it will not affect protective functions.
14. Replace the protective lenses immediately if broken or scratched. The
damage will obscure vision and reduce the filter’s protective
performance.
UNPACKING
WARNING! Do not operate the tool if any part is missing. Replace the
missing part before operating. Failure to do so could result in a
malfunction and personal injury.
Remove the parts and accessories from the packaging and inspect for damage.
Make sure that all items in the contents are included.

ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION
Numbered references in parenthesis (#) refer to the included Parts List.
ADJUST THE WELDING HELMET FIT
The headband should be adjusted both in diameter and height. The angle
between face and helmet should also be adjusted (recommended 10° to 12°).
1. Adjust the headband diameter with the headband tightness adjusting
knob (#16) on the headband. Twist clockwise to tighten and
counterclockwise to loosen.
2. Adjust the headband height by changing the top strap hole.
3. Adjust the helmet position on the headband. There are five slots on
the headgear slider (#15). Once the slot is chosen, tighten the
headgear screws. Make sure the same slot is chosen for both sides for
proper vision.
4. Adjust the helmet to get the desired viewing angle. Once the angle is
correct, tighten the two angle adjustment knobs (#2) connecting the
headband to the helmet shell until snug. The helmet should still
swing up, but it should not drift downward when in place for welding.

OPERATION
BEFORE WELDING
1. Ensure that the internal and external protective films are removed
from the lenses.
2. Check that the battery has sufficient power to operate the helmet.
2.1 When the battery power is low, the Low Battery LED indicator
(#29) will turn red. The filter cartridge lens may not work
correctly. Replace the battery (see Maintenance – Battery
Replacement).
3. Check that the arc sensors are clean and not blocked by dust or debris.
4. Check for head band tightness before each use.
SHADE NUMBER SELECTION
Adjust the welding helmet’s Shade Number to match the type of welding.
Consult the Welding Shade Guide to determine the minimum shade for
the amperage and welding method being employed.
The helmet has two settings for shade selection: automatic and manual.
Press the shade button (#25) to switch between auto and manual.
Auto shade selection allows the helmet to either increase or decrease the
shade level by 2 steps (minimum 5, maximum 13) beyond the selected
shade. Turn the dial (#8) clockwise to increase the DIN number,
counterclockwise to decrease the DIN number.
Select a shade manually by pressing the shade button (#25) to select
manual. A switch (#33) on the filter’s interior allows you to switch
between the DIN 5 to 9 or DIN 9 to 13 ranges. Turn the dial (#8) clockwise
to increase the DIN number, counterclockwise to decrease the DIN
number.
The selected DIN number will appear on the LED in both manual and auto
mode.
LOCK SHADE
Press and hold the delay button for 2 seconds to keep the shade filter dark
after the weld is complete. You can adjust the shade number up or down
with the shade knob (#8). The lock shade indicator (#28) will flash when
active. Press and hold the delay button again to deactivate the function.
It will work in either automatic or manual mode.

DELAY TIME
Delay time refers to the time the cartridge filter is set to change from the
dark to bright state after welding stops. The delay can be adjusted up to a
0.9 second delay.
The delay is set between 0.1, suitable for spot or short welds to 0.9
seconds, suitable for heavy current welding or when visible light is
produced.
The current sensitivity is displayed on the LED. Press the delay button
(#27) to increase the delay. The number will restart at when it reaches 0.9.
SENSITIVITY
The sensitivity control (#26) is set according to the welding process and
ambient light.
1. Low Setting (1)- suitable for high amperage welding and welding in
areas with high levels of natural sunlight.
2. Medium Setting (3) - suitable for most indoors and outdoors welding.
3. High Setting (5) - suitable for low amperage welding and welding in
areas with low light conditions, especially for low amperage argon-arc
welding.
GRINDING MODE
You can also use the welding helmet to protect your face during grinding.
Turn the Grind/Shade Number (#7) to select grind by holding the GRIND
button for 2 seconds. This will prevent the filter cartridge from darkening
when bright sparks are created. Selecting Grind will cause a light (#29) to
illuminate.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Maintain the tool with care. A tool in good condition is efficient,
easier to control and will have fewer problems.
2. Inspect the tool components periodically. Repair or replace damaged
or worn components. Only use identical replacement parts when
servicing.
3. When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Only use
accessories intended for use with this tool. Replace damaged parts
immediately.

4. Maintain the tool’s labels and name plates. These carry important
information. If unreadable or missing, contact Princess Auto Ltd. for
replacements.
WARNING! Only qualified service personnel should repair the tool. An
improperly repaired tool may present a hazard to the user and/or others.
CHANGE EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL LENS
The external and internal lenses will wear out and need replacement after
a period of use due to exposure to the heat, fumes and particulate matter
generated during welding.
1. Remove the ADF Cradle (#4) by pressing the lock switch at the bottom
of the retaining frame to the left. Pull the retaining frame free from the
welding helmet. Take care not to pull the external control cable.
2. Remove the inner lens (#30) by pulling it from the top and bottom. The
new inner cover lens is installed after the protective film is removed.
2.1 Insert the lens’ leading edge under the tab on one side of the
cartridge.
2.2 Bend the lens in the middle and slide the other side under the
other tab and push into place.
3. Reinsert the cartridge external control panel into the helmet.
4. Remove the external lens (#3).
4.1 Pull the lens from the lens frame by bending the lens in the
middle and pushing carefully inwards.
4.2 Remove the protective film from the new cover lens and slip it
into the frame.
4.3 Insert the lens frame lens back into the helmet by sliding the
lens under the tabs on one side and then bend the lens so it
slots under the tabs on the other side.
4.4 Re-insert the ADF cradle (#4) back into the helmet shell and lock
into place by pressing the locking switch to the right.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
1. Replace the batteries by removing the battery cover plate (#31) on
the opposite side of the external controls.
2. Remove the old batteries and replace with new CR2450 lithium
batteries. Check that each battery’s polarity is correct.
3. Reinstall the cover plate.

CLEANING
NOTICE! Do not use alcohol, gasoline or diluents to clean the filter
cartridge. Do not put place the filter cartridge into water as this will
damage the filter.
Clean the lens, helmet shell and headband with a soft cotton cloth and
mild soap. Replace the headband when required.
DISPOSAL
Recycle a tool damaged beyond repair at the appropriate facility.
Contact your local municipality for a list of disposal facilities or by-laws for
electronic devices, batteries, oil or other toxic liquids.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Visit a Princess Auto Ltd. location for a solution if the tool does not
function properly or parts are missing. If unable to do so, have a qualified
technician service the tool.

INTRODUCTION
Le casque de soudeur à assombrissement automatique TRUBLU 8000X à
lentille bleue comprend la technologie Blue Lens qui permet au soudeur
de voir clairement le spectre chromatique complet dans un état de clarté.
Des commandes externes permettent au soudeur de régler le numéro de
teinte DIN, la durée du délai et de la sensibilité sans retirer le masque.

1. Utilisez le bon outil pour la tâche à effectuer. Cet outil a été conçu pour

3. Le masque de soudeur à assombrissement automatique n’est pas
recommandé pour les opérations de soudage en hauteur, le soudage
au laser ou le découpage au laser.
4. Ce masque de soudeur ne convient pas au soudage à laser et au
soudage à l'oxyacétylène.
5. En cas de panne électronique, le filtre demeure foncé afin de
protéger contre les rayons ultraviolets et infrarouges conformément à
la teinte 15.
6. On recommande de toujours utiliser le filtre de soudage à
assombrissement automatique avec les lentilles interne et externe
originales du couvercle. N’ouvrez ni ne trafiquez jamais la cartouche
du filtre.
7. Assurez-vous que la lentille de couvercle avant est installée avant de
l’utiliser et retirez la pellicule protectrice.

8. Assurez-vous que la lentille est propre et qu’aucune saleté ou
éclaboussure ne recouvre les quatre capteurs sur l’avant de la
cartouche du filtre.
9. Inspectez toutes les pièces afin de détecter les signes d’usure ou de
dommages. Remplacez toute pièce égratignée ou fissurée avant
d’utiliser le masque.
10. Ne placez jamais le masque sur une surface chaude.
11. Les rayons de l’arc peuvent causer des brûlures à la peau et aux yeux.
Le soudage à l’arc produit des rayons intenses (ultraviolets et
infrarouges) qui sont visibles et invisibles. Portez un masque de
soudeur ajusté avec un filtre d’une teinte appropriée pour protéger
votre visage et vos yeux pendant que vous soudez ou regardez.
12. Vérifiez si le mode de soudage ou de meulage a été sélectionné avant
de l'utiliser.
13. La réaction des cristaux liquides du filtre sera plus lente si la
température ambiante est faible, mais les fonctions de protection
n'en souffriront aucunement.
14. Remplacez les lentilles de protection immédiatement si elles sont
brisées ou égratignées. Le dommage compromettra la visibilité et
réduira la capacité de protection du filtre.
DÉBALLAGE
AVERTISSEMENT ! Ne faites pas fonctionner l'outil si des pièces sont
manquantes. Remplacez les pièces manquantes avant l'utilisation. Le
non-respect de cet avertissement peut entraîner une défectuosité et des
blessures graves.
Retirez les pièces et les accessoires de l'emballage et vérifiez s'il y a des
dommages.

AJUSTEMENT DU MASQUE DE SOUDEUR
Il est recommandé d'ajuster le diamètre et la hauteur du bandeau. L'angle
entre la face et le masque devrait être ajusté (on recommande un angle de
10 à 12°).
1. Ajustez le diamètre du bandeau au moyen du Bouton de réglage du
serrage du bandeau (no16) sur le bandeau. Tournez-le dans le sens
horaire pour le serrer et dans le sens antihoraire pour le desserrer.
2. Ajustez la hauteur du bandeau en modifiant l'orifice de la sangle
supérieure.
3. Ajustez la position du masque au niveau du bandeau. La glissière du
masque comporte cinq fentes (no15). Une fois que la fente est
sélectionnée, serrez les vis du masque. Assurez-vous que la même

4. Ajustez le masque dans l'angle de visionnement désiré. Après avoir
obtenu l'angle prescrit, serrez à la main les deux boutons (no2) de
réglage d'angle reliant le bandeau à la coquille du masque. Il doit être
possible de relever le masque, mais il ne doit pas retomber lorsqu'il
est en position pour le soudage.
UTILISATION
AVANT LE SOUDAGE
1. Assurez-vous que les pellicules protectrices interne et externe ont été
retirées des lentilles.
2. Vérifiez si la pile est suffisamment puissante pour alimenter le
masque.
2.1 Lorsque la charge de la pile est faible, un indicateur à DÉL de la
pile (no21) devient rouge. Il se peut que la lentille du filtre à
cartouche ne fonctionne pas correctement. Remplacez le pile
(voir Entretien - Remplacement des piles).
3. Vérifiez si les capteurs d'arc sont propres et s'ils ne sont pas obstrués
par la poussière ou des débris.
4. Vérifiez si le bandeau est bien serré avant chaque utilisation.
