Important Notes
Please read these instructions and our full Terms and Conditions available at
www.raa.com.au/wireless-duress-tcs before you start using your Wireless Duress
System and ensure that you and your staff follow them at all times.
In certain circumstances it’s possible that your Wireless Duress System may not
operate as intended due to factors beyond the control of RAA and the user. These
include telecommunications network failure, interference from other devices, and
power outages.
If you suspect that your Wireless Duress System is not working as intended, please
call our Service Team on (08) 8202 4695 or email SecurityService@raa.com.au
Introduction
The RAA Wireless Duress System provides you and your staff with a discrete duress
response at the touch of a button.
Connected to our Adelaide based A1 Monitoring Emergency Response Centre (MERC)
via the Telstra 3G mobile network, our team of professional consultants are here to
action your response plan 24/7, every day.
Our system is designed with the reality of modern business in mind.
Its silent operation means that police, or other nominated emergency contacts and
services, are called for help without inflaming a situation. Its wireless operation gives
you the freedom to add up to seven Duress Button zones and your system can be
relocated any time by one of our technicians if your business changes.
The Wireless Duress System is ideal for any public facing organisation where there is
the potential for difficult conversations, or where your staff are vulnerable in close and
private scenarios on-site.
Our full Wireless Duress System terms and conditions are available at

Your Duress Button
Each Wireless Duress System can connect up to seven duress buttons (or monitored
wireless smoke detectors) with our monitoring centre.
Duress Buttons are installed by a licenced RAA security technician in a location that is
in reach during a duress event and in range of the system base.
Requesting Help (Activating your duress)
Press and hold the ‘help’ button on the system base, or the duress button, for at least
two secons.
If a help or duress button is pressed the ‘help’ button will illuminate on the system
base. In approximately 30 seconds the system base will display ‘d1’ to confirm that the
RAA Monitoring Centre has received your call for help.

RAA Duress Response Procedure
During the commissioning of your system, you will complete the Duress Confidential
Data Sheet with one of our team. The Data Sheet outlines which responders will
be contacted in an emergency and in what order. Site details and other important
information collected will be provided to emergency services when required.
Cancelling a false alarm
Being a duress system once an alarm has been activated it cannot be cancelled from
the site. In the case of a false alarm wait for RAA to contact your site and confirm
the false alarm. The unit can be reset by pressing the CANCEL button on the system
base. The unit will beep several times and the display will reset.
Care of your duress buttons and
system base
The duress buttons and system base installed at your site are sensitive and high tech
devices. Avoid spraying them with any type of chemicals. Operators and other staff
(after hours cleaning staff, contractors, etc.) should be aware of their location and their
sensitivity to substances. They should not be painted or moved once installed by RAA
Secure Services.
To avoid false alarms, if you do need to clean your duress buttons (or carry out any
other work that might trigger an alarm) please do this during your monthly test and
advise the RAA consultant. Please only use a warm and slightly damp cloth for
cleaning.
The long life battery in your Duress Buttons will provide three or more years of service
depending on use, testing and distance to system base. They are a sealed unit and
the battery is unable to be replaced. A new button assembly must be installed, paired
and tested with your system by one of our licensed technicians.
Your system base is located in a position that achieves optimal 3G network strength,
connectivity with your duress buttons, and is accessible in an emergency. If you need
to relocate the system base or buttons, even for a short period, please advise RAA
Secure Services prior to work.
Regular System Testing
Regular duress button testing ensures correct end-to-end operation and an
opportunity to rehearse your emergency response so that it becomes second nature
for you and your staff.
To test your Duress Buttons:
1. Call the Monitoring Centre on (08) 8202 4695,
2. Confirm your identity using your predefined voice code
3. Advise you are about to complete a Wireless Duress System ‘live test’
4. Press a duress button
5. Wait for RAA to call the premises
6. Answer and talk to operator to confirm test success
7. Press CANCEL button on the system base to reset the unit
8. Response times can vary during test mode because we will prioritise response to
genuine emergencies. It is recommended that testing occurs once a month.
Battery backup
Your Wireless Duress System is equipped with a long life backup battery. In the event
of a power outage your system base will maintain charge for up to three days.
Status Indicators
Lights, buttons, and visual displays on the system base provide important information
about the status of your system.
