1 Overview
This chapter is an overview of the Gazelle S1000i-LI, including the following sections:
Introduction
Characteristics
Models
1.1 Introduction
The 1000 Mbit/s industrial Ethernet switch Gazelle S1000i-LI (hereinafter referred to as the
Gazelle S1000i-LI) adopts all-1000 Mbit/s interfaces, guide-rail chassis, all-metal shell, and
fanless design, and features good heat dissipation, small size, low power consumption, and
easy installation. The Gazelle S1000i-LI can meet requirements in security protection fields,
such as intelligent transportation and peaceful city, and can be applied to various fields, such
as the industrial TV, underground pipeline corridor, energy, and petrochemical industries.
The Gazelle S1000i-LI supports complete Layer 2 features and network management
performance, and provides multiple interface types, including electrical interface and optical
interface.
Figure 1-1 shows appearance of the Gazelle S1000i-2GF-8FE-LI

1.2 Characteristics
1.2.1 High reliability
The Gazelle S1000i-LI is characterized by high reliability:
Adopt an industrial chip and power supply, and is designed with lower power
consumption.
Possess a guide-rail chassis, all-metal shell, and fanless heat dissipation design.
Support IP40 protection grade.
Support wide-temperature working environment with the operating temperature (altitude:
0–1800 m) in the range of -40 to +75°C and storage temperature in the range of -40 to
+85°C.
Be dampproof and corrosion-resisting, and works at 5%–95% relative humidity (non-
condensing).
Pass IEC 61000-4 industrial-grade electromagnetic compatibility test with good anti-
electromagnetic interference performance.
Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) is 35 years.
When the altitude increases by 220 m between 1800 and 5000 m, the highest
operating temperature of the iTN8605-NO2D decreases by 1°C .
1.2.2 Various interface types
The Gazelle S1000i-LI meets special on-site environment requirements with various
interfaces, including:
Provide various interfaces. The uplink interface supports the SFP optical interface and
the downlink interface supports the RJ45 electrical interface.
Provide the RJ45 Console interface. However, the Gazelle S1000i-2GF-8FE-LI (H)
supports the Mini-USB Console interface.
Provide the alarm output interface with Phoenix connector.
Provide the RST button to restart the entire device or restore factory settings.
Provide 110/220 VAC power supply input.
1.2.3 Powerful PoE power supply
The Gazelle S1000i-LI PoE model supports PoE, with the following characteristics:
Support Endpoint PSE (PoE integrated in the Gazelle S1000i-LI).
Comply with IEEE 802.3 af (PoE).
Comply with IEEE 802.3 at (PoE+).
Support standard PDs and non-standard PDs.
Provide 8 RJ45 interfaces for PoE power supply, and meet power supply requirements of
15 W and 30 W. When all these PoE interfaces supply power, the maximum supplied
power is 240 W.
Support enabling/disabling PoE and configuring the maximum output power, power
supply mode, and power supply priority of PoE interfaces through software.

Support overtemperature protection.
1.2.4 Flexible networking performance
The Gazelle S1000i-LI possesses flexible networking performance:
Support multiple networking schemes, such as the chain, star, double-star, single ring,
intersecting ring, and tangent ring.
Support Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP), and
Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), which enhance the link redundant backup and
fault-tolerant performance to ensure stable operation of the network.
Support G.8032 Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS) and support protection
switching time to be less than 50ms. This solves multi-ring protection, arbitrary topology,
multi-domain protection, and multi-protocol interoperability.
1.2.5 Complete security guarantee
The Gazelle S1000i-LI provides complete security guarantee:
Support user management at different levels and password protection to avoid
unauthorized access.
Support Remote Authentication Dial In User Service (RADIUS) authentication and
Terminal Access ControllerAccess Control System (TACACS+) authentication, and
provide integrated password management.
Support static Address Resolution Protocol (ARP); namely, bind the MAC address with
the interface to protect the network fromARP attacks.
Support storm control (including broadcast, unknown multicast, and unknown unicast
packets), which effectively ensures the Gazelle S1000i-LI to work normally under bad
network conditions.
Support VLAN partition based on the IEEE 802.1Q to isolate physical interfaces.
Support interface protection to implement data isolation in the interface protection group
and further perfect the protection mechanism of the user data.
Support encrypted authentication and access security provided by SNMPv3.
1.2.6 Comprehensive management modes
The Gazelle S1000i-LI supports the following management modes:
Web mode: it employs the graphic management interface, which reduces the difficulty of
Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and facilitates management and maintenance of the
device.
SNMP/RMON mode: the Gazelle S1000i-LI can be managed through the NView NNM
system, which can implement alarm management of a single device or multiple devices
to achieve the goal of managing all devices comprehensively.
Support Telnet and SSH remote login to implement remote management and
maintenance.
Support multiple software upgrading modes, such as, TFTP, FTP, SFTP, Network
Management System (NMS), and Web.
