WARNING: Indicates radioactive source instructions.
WARNING: User should use care to avoid personal injury. This graphic is
accompanied by additional information indicating the details of the
warning.
Warnings and Cautions
The MobileTrace®detector contains a radioactive Nickel-63 source of 10 millicuries (370
MBq) strength. The source is fully enclosed in the detector of the instrument that stops all
primary radiation. The detector has been designed in compliance with the United States
Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC) guidelines for safety. If a problem is suspected
with the detector, DO NOT open the detector—call Rapiscan Systems’s Technical Support
Department. Then, if necessary, return the instrument to Rapiscan Systems for service.
Note that in some countries, notification of receipt and registration of the source may be
required by the national government body responsible for control of radioactive sources.
NOTE: An annual radiation wipe test is not required on this instrument in
the United States. In other countries, annual wipe testing may be
required. Consult your local radiation governing body for require-
ments.

WARNING: Remarks regarding the use of the MobileTrace®detector in France:
• You will have the obligation to perform periodic inspections of the sealed sourced
contained in our equipment in compliance with articles R4452-12, R4452-13 and
R4452-15 and the code of labor regulations. Before shipment of the equipment,
Rapiscan Systems will perform a test to verify the absence of radioactive leaks. A
certificate mentioning the result of the test will be provided with each MobileTrace®
detector. This initial leak test has to be stored along with the results of any subsequent
tests. A technical control of radioprotection of the sources has to be performed every
year at a minimum. It is your responsibility to have the test performed by an authorized
body.
• Your company will have to be authorized for the possession of radioactive elements.
For this, you will need to verify:
• that a person competent in radioprotection be designated by the legal authority of your
company, and be trained accordingly.
• that your company obtain an authorization from the Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN):
the form "Manufacturing, Possession, Use and Manipulation of radionuclides or of
equipment or products containing some" is available on the website www.asn.fr.
• Once you have received from the ASN your authorization to possess and to use sealed
sources, the IRSN (Institute for Radioprotection and Nuclear Safety) who has in
parallel received a copy of it, will send to the beneficiary of the authorization original
forms of red color called "Request for the supply of sealed sourced”, matrix based on
the content/data of your authorization.
• You will fill this request and send it to Rapiscan Systems who will complete it and will
affix its commitment to take back the sources, before transmitting it to the Department
of Source Expertise at the IRSN.
• As soon as your receive your IRSN authorization, you will provide us a notarized copy
which will authorize us to ship the MobileTrace®detector.
• Finally, you will be held accountable to an annual inventory to be provided to IRSN
(article R.1333-50 of the code of Public Health) identifying an updated and
comprehensive list of all sources and equipment, used or stored in your facility.
WARNING: The detector must be disposed of properly in accordance with local,
state, and federal (or National) regulations. Please contact your local
hazardous waste disposal facility or Rapiscan Systems for proper
disposal methods.
WARNING: The desorber contains heater elements that exceed 200°C. User should
use care when working on or near hot surfaces.
CAUTION: Do not position the device so that it is difficult to operate the
disconnecting device.
