qualifieddealerorinstaller.
•Incorrect/incompleteconfigurationcancauseerroneousdataandprevent
yourproductfromtransmitting.
•IfanMMSInumberisnotprogrammedtheproductwilloperateasanAIS
receiveronlyandwillnottransmitAISinformationforyourvessel.

Y ourAIS700usesdigitalradiosignalstoexchange'real-time'informationbetweenvessels,shore
basedstations,oraidstonavigation(AoNs)ondedicatedVHFfrequencies.hisinformationisused
toidentifyandtrackvesselsinthesurroundingareaandtoprovidefast,automaticandaccurate
collisionavoidancedata.
AlthoughAISaugmentsyourRadarappbyoperatinginRadarblindspotsanddetectingsmaller
AIS-fittedvessels,itdoesnotreplaceyourRadar,asitreliesonreceivingtransmittedAISinformation
andthereforecannotdetectobjectssuchaslandmasses,navigationalbeaconsorvesselsnot
equippedwithAIS.
Note:
NEVERassumethatAISisdisplayinginformationfromallvesselsinthearea,because:
•NotallvesselsarefittedwithAIS

WhenselectingalocationforyourAIS700itisimportanttoconsideranumberoffactors.

ateringress—heAIS700shouldbemountedbelowdecks.AlthoughtheAIS700iswaterproof,
itisgoodpracticetolocateitinaprotectedareaawayfromprolongedanddirectexposuretorain
andsaltspray.
•Ventilation—oensureadequateairflow:
–EnsurethatAIS700ismountedinacompartmentofsuitablesize.
–Ensurethatventilationholesarenotobstructed.Allowadequateseparationofallequipment.
•Electricalinterference—Selectalocationthatisfarenoughawayfromdevicesthatmaycause
interference,suchasmotors,generatorsandradiotransmitters/receivers.
•Powersupply—Selectalocationthatisascloseaspossibletothevessel’sDCpowersource.

•iagnostics—heAIS700mustbemountedinalocationwhereanydiagnosticsLEDsareeasily
visible.

•Cabling—EnsuretheAIS700ismountedinalocationwhichallowsproperrouting,support
andconnectionofcables:
–Minimumbendradiusof100mm(3.94in)unlessotherwisestated.
–Usecableclipstopreventstressonconnectors.
–Ifyourinstallationrequiresmultipleferritestobeaddedtoacablethenadditionalcableclips
shouldbeusedtoensuretheextraweightofthecableissupported.
