provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for
replacement of the obsolete outlet.
10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly
at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from
the apparatus.
11. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
12. Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the
manufacturer or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used,
use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to
avoid injury from tip-over.
13. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long
periods of time.
14. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required
when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as if the
power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or
objects have fallen into the apparatus, or if the apparatus has been

16. Damage Requiring Service - The appliance should be serviced by

C. The appliance has been exposed to rain;
D. The appliance does not appear to operate normally or exhibits a
marked change in performance;
E. The appliance has been dropped or the enclosure damaged.
17. Tilt/Stability - All televisions must comply with recommended
international global safety standards for tilt and stability proper ties of
its cabinet design.
• Do not compromise these design standards by applying excessive
pull force to the front, or top, of the cabinet, which could ultimately
overturn the product.
• Also, do not endanger yourself, or children, by placing electronic
equipment/toys on the top of the cabinet. Such items could
unsuspectingly fall from the top of the set and cause product damage
and/or personal injury.
18. Power Lines - An outdoor antenna should be located away from
power lines.
19. Outdoor Antenna Grounding - If an outside antenna is connected to
the receiver, be sure the antenna system is grounded so as to provide
some protection against voltage surges and built up static charges.
Section 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA No. 70- 1984,
provides information with respect to proper grounding of the mast
and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna
discharge unit, size of grounding connectors, location of antenna-
discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements
for the grounding electrode. See Figure below.
20. Object and Liquid Entry - Care should be taken so that objects do not
fall and liquids are not spilled into the enclosure through openings.
21. Battery usage CAUTION - To prevent battery leakage that may result
in bodily injury, property damage, or damage to the unit:
• Install all batteries correctly, with + and - aligned as marked on the
unit.
• Do not mix batteries (old and new or carbon and alkaline, etc.).
• Remove batteries when the unit is not used for a long time.
22. Apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no

IMPORTANT - If you aren’t receiving a picture with this connection, the problem
might be with your Set top box. If the Set top box is “progressive scan,” you need to
change the setting from progressive to interlace. The procedure for changing this on
devices varies. Look for a button on the front of the Set top box (it might be called
Resolution or Display), or see if there is a switch on the back (it might be labeled “int/
prog” or something similar), or the item might be in the menu system of the Set top box.
Consult your Set top box owner’s manual for instructions.

1. If necessary, connect your cable and/or antenna as described on page 5.
2. Connect your Y Pb Pr component video cables.

andred.JustmatchthecolorsonthecablestotheYPbPrjacks.
3. Connect your audio cables.
Connecttheaudio(redandwhite)cablestotheAUDIORandL(VIDINPUT)jacks
onthebackof yourunitandtotheaudiooutputjacksontheSettopbox.Just
matchthecolors.
Important - When using the Component video input (Y Pb Pr) jacks, use only
the Audio R/L jacks from VID input (Composite) for this connection.
Viewing the Picture from the Connected Device

tothenext/previouschapter.
VOLUME t/u Decreases/increasesthevolume.IntheTVmenusystem,actsliketheleft/
rightarrowbuttonontheremotecontrolandadjustsmenucontrols.
MENU DisplaystheTVMainmenu.If theMainmenuisdisplayed,exitsthemenu;if asub-
menuisdisplayed,takesyoubacktothepreviousmenu.
STOP/EJECT Presstoopenorclosethedisctray.If adiscisplaying,stopsdiscplay.
PLAY/PAUSE Beginsdiscplay(pressandholdtoclosedisctrayif open).Alsopausesdisc
play.Whenthediscispaused,pressPLAY/PAUSEtoresumeplayback.
INPUT TogglesthroughtheavailableVideoInputChannels(FRNT, VID, CVID, DVD, last
digitalchannelorthelastanalogchannel).
Note: If a disc becomes jammed in the disc tray (shown above), unplug all connected
devices and unplug the power cord. Place the TV on a soft surface with the screen face
down. Make sure the disc tray can open freely and isn’t obstructed.
Have someone steady the TV so it doesn’t fall. Underneath the TV is a long rectangular
slot. Inside the slot is a white switch that slides (look on the right side of the slot). You
might need a flashlight to see the white switch. Use a thin screwdriver to push the switch
to the other side. Now the disc tray opens.

Plug in your Product and Turn It On
Plugtheendof thepowercordintoagroundedwalloutlet.Inserttheplugcompletelyinto

Put Batteries in the Remote
• Removethebatterycompartmentcoverfromthebackof theremotebypushingdown
andslidingoff thecover.
• Insert2fresh“AA”batteries.Makesurethepolarities(+and-)arealignedcorrectlytothe
diagraminsidethebatterycompartment.
• Replacethecover.
Note: If you won’t need to use your remote for a long period of time, remove the
batteries to avoid damage due to possible leakage.

Intheexample,press“1”,thenpress“2”(although012isshownintheexample,
pressing“0”isn’trequired).Nowpresstherightarrowbuttontomovetothe
subchannel.Press“1”andthen“OK.”Yourproducttunestochannel12-1.If
channel12isbroadcastingsubchannelsignals,youwouldenternumbersthat

theSource Type(Cable or Antenna).ThedefaultisCable.
2. WiththeSignal Sourcechosen,highlightStart SearchandpressOK.Auto
ChannelSearchrunsasitndsalltheavailablechannels.Thechannelsearch
ndsbothanaloganddigitalchannels.(Whensearchingforcablechannels,
thisstepcantakesometime.Itcantakeapproximately30minutes).
3. Oncethesearchiscomplete,yourunittunestoachannel.Forinformation
oncustomizingyourchannelsormenuoptions,gotoChapter4.

This is normal. Digital channels sometimes take longer to tune.
To see if you’re tuned to a digital or analog channel, press the INFO button. This brings
up the Channel Banner screen, discussed on page 19.
