Programming the PM-50
Programming Methods
There are several methods to program a PM-50. On rst power up, there is a default conguraon that
allows you to congure using the Inial Setup Wizard (also referred to as Programming Wizard). The Wizard
has two opons:
Quick Setup - This method allows you to manually congure the basic setup for Screen, Input, Output
and Wi-Fi. Aer the conguraon setup, you are directed to the HOME screen of the device.
Import Conguraon - This method allows you to import a cong.txt le from the microSD card. This le
can be exported from another PM-50. Essenally cloning that device.
Aer the Inial Setup Wizard, addional touch screen programming or changes can be done by touching
the Top right corner icon called Conguraon. You can also access the device conguraon remotely.
For remote access, you must rst setup the Wi-Fi access. Once Wi-Fi is enabled, you can program remotely
using web interface or mobile app (Android and iOS). It is also possible to import a cong.txt le saved from
another PM-50 using these remote means. An explanaon of each of these methods follows.
Note: The device allows programming either using the touchscreen or remotely.
Programming Wizard
The Programming Wizard is the inial Device Setup Wizard which appears automacally:
- when the device boots for the first time or,
- when Factory Reset is enabled
The Programming Wizard can also be manually triggered by following these steps:
1. Login as the Admin user using the touchscreen
2. Go to (Device) → Misc. Conguraon → Factory Conguraon → Enable Programming Wizard
and set the switch to ON.
3. Click the Apply & Exit buon, or connue on to the next pages and click the Apply buon on the nal
page.
4. At the next power cycle or reboot, the Programming Wizard will start.
5. Aer exing the Programming Wizard, it will automacally disable.
Note: Enable Programming Wizard cannot be enabled remotely using Wi-Fi through a web browser or
through the Mobile app.

Wi-Fi Setup and Remote Access:
The Wi-Fi setup can be done during the Inial Setup Wizard, by imporng the conguraon from another
device, or using the Quick Setup secon.
Note: The Admin password must be enabled for Wi-Fi setup to be accessed.
1. If not using the Wizard or imporng the conguraon then, login to the device as the Admin user using
the touchscreen.
2. Go to System Conguraon → Network Conguraon → Wi-Fi Conguraon
a. Set Enable Wi-Fi to ON and click the right navigation arrow.
b. If the Admin Password is configured already, then the next page will be Wi-Fi Connection Mode. Else
“Set Admin Password” page will be loaded to configure the Admin password and proceed.
3. Set the Wi-Fi Connecon Mode to Client or Access Point based on the remote connecon requirement
as follows:
Client Mode:
• In Client Mode, set Enable DHCP Client to ON and the connected running DHCP Server will assign
the IP informaon. Otherwise, set Enable DHCP Client to OFF, then click on the right navigaon
arrow and setup the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Gateway.
• Congure the Access Point SSID and Password to connect to the network for remote access.
Access Point:
• In Access Point mode, set Enable DHCP Server to ON if the user has to get the IP assigned
automacally when they connect to the device’s Access Point.
• When Enable DHCP Server is ON, the user has to setup the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway,
Starng Address, and Ending Address.
• The Starng and Ending Addresses are used by the DHCP Server to assign a range of IP addresses
allowed to connect to the PM-50.
• If Enable DHCP Server is OFF, then the user has to setup the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Gateway.
• Set the Encrypon Mode based on the Access Point encrypon requirement
4. Once the Wi-Fi Conguraon setup is complete, turn Enable Modbus/TCP over Wi-Fi ON or OFF based
on the necessary requirements. (This is not in the Wizard.)
5. Click the Apply buon on the nal page to congure the Wi-Fi sengs.

Wi-Fi Status
The Menu bar should load with the Wi-Fi Icon aer returning to the main display. There are two methods
to check the status of the Wi-Fi:
1. Return to the conguraon mode and click the Wi-Fi Icon in the menu bar. A page will load with the
device IP details.
2. Go to Device → Misc. Conguraon → About this Device and click the right navigaon arrow to go
to the Network Conguraon secon.

The Network Conguraon secon provides the Wi-Fi conguraon details with its IP Informaon or any
connecon issue.
Once the Wi-Fi Setup is successful with the IP assigned to the device and your PC/Mobile is connected,
based on the “Wi-Fi communicaon mode”, follow the steps below to access the device conguraon.
How to connect to the PM-50 Wi-Fi Client
1. Once the PM-50 is congured in Client mode successfully, the Wi-Fi icon will appear. Connect the PC/
Mobile to the same network with the SSID and password.
2. To view the Wi-Fi conguraon status with the IP details, click the Wi-Fi Icon in the menu bar while
in Conguraon mode, or go to Device → Misc. Conguraon → About this Device. Then click the

right navigaon arrow to access the Network Informaon secon.

3. Open a web browser (Chrome, FireFox, Safari etc) or the Mobile App and enter “https://xxx.xxx.x.xx
(your IP address)” to connect to the PM-50.
Note: You must be logged out of Conguraon Mode on the device to log into conguraon using Wi-Fi.
How to connect to the PM-50 Wi-Fi Access Point
1. Once the PM-50 has been congured in Access Point mode successfully, enable the Wi-Fi mode on
your device and search for the SSID congured in the device.
2. Select the SSID and connect with the given password.
3. To check the connecon status with the IP details from the PM-50, click the Wi-Fi Icon in the menu bar,
or go to Device → Misc. Conguraon → About this Device. Then click the right navigaon arrow to
go to the Network Informaon secon to view the Wi-Fi conguraon status.

4. Open a web browser (Chrome, FireFox, Safari etc) or the Mobile App and enter “hps://xxx.xxx.x.xx
(your IP address)” to connect to the PM-50.
Note: You must be logged out of Conguraon Mode on the device to log into conguraon using Wi-Fi.
Wi-Fi Notes
Presently, Wi-Fi is only for real me viewing and conguraon of the PM-50. With DHCP Client enabled
(On), it is possible for the IP address to be dynamically changed by the server. There are only a few
parameters that you cannot congure through Wi-Fi. There is a small delay to real me data update.

Update Firmware
The PM-50 allows you to update the rmware using the microSD card or remotely from a web browser
with Wi-Fi enabled. It is strongly suggested that the conguraon in the PM-50 be saved to a cong.txt le
using a microSD card or through Wi-Fi before updang to a new rmware version.
Update Firmware Using MicroSD Card
The microSD card can be used to ash (install) new rmware onto the PM-50 by placing an image le
(gpmcore.fwb) on the formaed microSD card. The microSD card should be 32 GB or smaller in size and
formaed with the FAT16 or FAT32 format for the rmware update from microSD to work. Follow the steps
below to ash new rmware onto the device.
1. Ensure the device is powered o and insert the microSD card loaded with the latest rmware into the
microSD card slot in the device.
2. Power on the device and click the gear icon to login as the Admin User.
3. If you see the programming wizard, complete the inial setup or click the Exit buon and complete the
inial setup aer the new rmware is installed.
4. Once the programming wizard updates are completed, login to the device with Admin user credenals.
5. Go to Device → Misc. Conguraon → Firmware Upload
6. The Firmware Upload page shows the microSD card status with the version of the rmware on it.
Note: If it shows “No SD Card”, “No Firmware in SD Card” or “Invalid FW in SD Card”, check the firmware
name (gpmcore.fwb) and microSD Card size, then repeat steps 1 through 5.
7. Click the Upload buon to upgrade to the new rmware.
• The next page loads to show the Firmware Upload progress details. At the completion of the upload,
the unit will proceed with reboot.
• After the PM-50 reboots, The PM-50 will momentarily display the upgraded firmware version in the
lower left screen area. The firmware version can also be verified at Device → Misc. Conguraon
→ About this Device. User settings from the previous firmware should be retained.

Upgrade Firmware Remotely
The rmware of the PM-50 can be upgraded remotely from a web browser once Wi-Fi access is
enabled.
1. Login to the device remotely from a web browser or through the Mobile App.
2. Go to Device → Misc. Conguraon → Firmware Upload
3. Click the Select le buon, select the rmware le (gpmcore.fwb) to upgrade to and click the Upgrade
buon.
4. A pop-up window warns that the rmware upgrade will reboot the device. Click on Proceed to start
the rmware upgrade procedure and the PM-50 will show the upgrade status and then reboot. User
sengs from the previous rmware should be retained. You may lose Wi-Fi connecon during reboot.
5. The PM-50 will momentarily display the upgraded rmware version in the lower le screen area.

Programming Wizard
The Programming Wizard is not available through Wi-Fi using a web browser or through the Mobile app.
