Safety
Never attempt to repair or modify your instrument. Dismantling your
product, other than for the purpose of replacing batteries, may cause

Operating Instructions
Note:Allappliancesorequipmentonthecircuitundertestshouldbe
unplugged in order to avoid erroneous readings.
This instrument will not:
• Indicatequalityofground.
• Detect2hotwiresincircuit.
• Detectacombinationofdefects.
• Indicatereversalofgroundedandgroundingconductors.
Circuit Breaker/Fuse Finder
The transmitter sends a signal through the circuit which is detected by the
receiver. The receiver will beep when the transmitted signal is detected.
Thesensitivityadjustmentallowsfortracingandpinpointingoftheexact
circuit breaker or fuse.
1. Plug the transmitter into a receptacle.
2. Turn the receiver on by rotating the sensitivity adjustment wheel from
theOFFpositiontotheHiposition.TheredLEDwillturnon.Ifthe
LEDdoesnotturnon,checkthebattery.
3. Test the receiver by placing it close to the transmitter. The receiver
shouldbeepandtheLEDshouldashconrmingitisworking.
Always test on a known good circuit prior to using the meter.

4. Atthebreakerbox,whilesetatthe
highest sensitivity, orient the receiver
as per the diagram to scan the
surface of the circuit breaker panel.
Move the receiver from top to bottom
on each side of the
breaker panel.
NOTE: Failure to orient the receiver as depicted may result in
faulty readings.
5. While moving the receiver, gradually reduce the sensitivity to pinpoint
theexactbreaker/fuseassociatedtothecircuitundertest.
Receptacle Wiring Test
1. Plug the transmitter into the receptacle.
2. Determine the status of the circuit connection according to the 3
LEDs.Thediagrambelowindicatesallofthepossiblecombinations
thatcouldappearforthecircuitundertest(GFCIbuttonsideofthe
transmitter)Ifobservedfromtheothersideduetothegroundhole
plugbeingontop,theorderofLEDindicatorlightswillbereversed.

GFCI Socket Tester
1. Prior to using the transmitter, press the TEST button on the installed
GFCIreceptacle.ThiswillcausetheGFCItotrip.Ifittrips,pressthe
RESET button on the receptacle. If it does not trip, do not use the
circuitandcallaqualiedelectrician.
2. Plug the transmitter into the socket, check that the circuit is
connectedcorrectlyaccordingtotheLEDindicators.
3. PresstheGFCIbuttonforatleast8seconds,theindicatorlightswill
turnoffwhentheGFCItrips.
4. Ifthecircuitdoesnottrip,itcouldindicatethateithertheGFCIis
operable but the wiring is incorrect, or that the wiring is correct and
butGFCIisinoperable.
Battery Replacement
1. The battery needs to be replaced when the indicator light is not
bright or if the red light is not on.
2. Slide the battery cover according to the arrow to open the battery
compartment and remove the battery.
3. Install a new 9V battery.
4. Replace the battery cover.

WhentestingGFCIsinstalledin2-wiresystems(nogroundwire),the
testermaygiveafalseindicationthattheGFCIisnotfunctioning
properly.Ifthisoccurs,rechecktheGFCIreceptaclebyusingthetest
and reset buttons. This test will indicate proper operation.

• Changethebatteryasneeded.
• Ifyourinstrumentisn'tbeingusedforaperiodofonemonthorlonger
please remove the battery.
• Cleanyourproductandaccessorieswithbiodegradablecleaner.Donot
spraythecleanerdirectlyontheinstrument.Useonexternalpartsonly.

materialorworkmanshipforaperiodofone(1)yearfromdateofshipment.
During the warranty period, REED Instruments will repair or replace, at no
charge, products or parts of a product that proves to be defective because
