1 General information
The SBS filling and flushing station is only suitable for
water, water-glycol mixtures and cleaning fluids for so-
lar and heating systems. The medium must be free of
grit, but may be polluted.
The user must make sure that the SBS 2000 filling and
flushing station is suitable for the fluid in use.
WARNING! Risk of fatal injury by explo-
sion or deflagration!
Using the station with substances
having a flashing point lower than
55 °C can lead to explosions or
deflagrations.
ÎDo not use the station with
petrol, solvants or other
volatile substances!
ATTENTION! Pressure surge damage!
If the medium enters strongly
heated, empty collectors, pressure
surges can occur.
ÎDo not fill or flush the sys-
tem during times of strong
irradiation!
2 Electrical connection
The cross-section of the connection cable must be at
least 1.5 mm².
Note
For your own safety: only use the filling and
flushing station in an electrical circuit fused
by a residual current device.

4 Operation
1.
GLYCOL
ÎFill the tank of the filling and flushing station with a
sufficient amount of fluid.
MIN
ÎMake sure the tank is filled at least to the MIN
marking (5l)
4.1 Flushing and filling the solar system
Note
In the following, the filling and flushing proc-
ess will be described using a filling and flush-
ing unit (see chap. „Accessories and spare
parts“ Pagina 15). If the system has no filling
and flushing unit, use the filling valve and the
drain valve of the system instead.
ÎDisconnect the expansion vessel from the solar
thermal system.
2.
ÎConnect the pressure hose of the filling and flush-
ing station to the filling valve (5) of the filling and
flushing unit.
ÎConnect the flushing hose of the filling and flush-
ing station to the drain valve (3) of the filling and
flushing unit.
3.
ÎClose the ball valve in the middle of the filling and
flushing unit.
ÎOpen the non-return-valves in the flow (1) and the
return (2).
ÎOpen the filling valve (5) and the drain valve (3).
ON
ÎSwitch on the filling pump.
6.
ÎFlush the solar thermal system for at least 15 min-
utes by means of the filling and flushing station un-
til the discharged solar fluid is free of gas bubbles
and dirt particles.

WARNING! Risk of scalding!
If the medium enters strongly heated, em-
pty collectors, pressure surges caused by
vaporisation can occur.
ÎIn order to prevent the medium
from boiling in the collectors, do
not fill or flush the system during
times of strong solar irradiation.
ATTENTION! Damage to the device caused by
underpressure!
If the lid is tightly closed, the tank
will be depressurised during the
filling process.
ÎOpen the tank for the filling
process!

ÎDuring flushing, bleed the solar thermal system
several times until the discharged solar fluid is free
of air bubbles
7.
ÎClose the drain valve (3) of the filling and flushing
unit while the filling pump is running.
BAR
ÎIncrease the system pressure. The system pressure
can be read from the manometer.
9.
ÎClose the filling valve (5).
OFF
ÎSwitch off the filling pump.
ÎCheck the manometer to see whether the system
pressure decreases (approx. 15 minutes) and elimi-
nate leaks where necessary.
ÎReconnect the expansion vessel to the solar ther-
mal system.
ÎOpen the filling valve (5) and switch on the filling
pump.
4.2 Flushing heating systems
ÎConnect the pressure hose of the flushing and fill-
ing station to the filling valve of the system.
ÎConnect the flushing hose of the flushing and filling
station to the drain valve of the system.
ÎOpen the ball valves of the filling and flushing station.
ÎOpen the filling valve and drain valve of the system.
ÎSwitch on the filling pump.
ÎFlush the system by means of the filling and flushing
station until the discharged solar fluid is free of gas
bubbles and dirt particles.
ÎSwitch off the filling pump.
ÎClose the filling valve and drain valve of the system.
ÎClose the ball valves of the filling and flushing station.
ÎDisconnect the pressure hose and the flushing
hose.
4.3 Cleaning the dirt filter
The dirt filter at the pump inlet must be checked for
grit at regular intervals. In order to remove and clean
the dirt filter, proceed as follows:
ÎDrain and open the tank.
The dirt filter is clearly visible at the bottom of the
tank.
ÎUnscrew and remove the dirt filter.
ÎClean the dirt filter thoroughly under running water.
ÎIf necessary, remove dirt particles from the bottom
of the tank with a soft cloth.
ÎReinstall the dirt filter.
dirt filter
ÎSet the operating pressure of the solar thermal
system (approx. 0.5 bar higher than the inlet pres-
sure of the expansion vessel or the value recom-
mended by the manufacturer).
ÎSwitch off the filling pump.
ÎClose the filling valve (5) and open the ball valve
(4).
ÎSlowly discharge the heat transfer fluid by means
of the drain valve (3) until the operating pressure
(see above) is set.
ÎRemove the hoses of the filling and flushing station
and screw the caps onto the fill and drain valves.
ÎEmpty the contents of the hoses into the tank of
the filling and flushing station by opening the ball
valves carefully.
ÎClose the ball valves.
ÎPut the non-return valves in flow and return in op-
erating position.
ÎManually start the solar thermal pump at maximum
speed (see controller manual) and let the fluid cir-
culate for at least 15 minutes.
ÎBleed the solar thermal system several times until
the discharged fluid is free of gas bubbles.
%
ÎCheck the antifreeze ratio.
GL
YCOL
ÎDrain the tank of the filling and flushing station.
Make sure the filter is completely immersed
in the medium in order to prevent air intake.
