follow the instructions for set up and use carefully, as outlined in this manual, and to use
the components and supplies specified by RF Technologies, Inc. for set up and use. Do
not attempt to use extension cords or other equipment not supplied by RF Technologies,
Inc.

WARNING
SYSTEM INSPECTION—It is the responsibility of the facility to establish and
facilitate a regular inspection schedule for your system. RF Technologies, Inc.
recommends monthly inspections of your system for safety and performance by a
qualified RF Technologies, Inc. representative.

Failure to provide regular inspection of these products may result inequipment and/or
systemfailure.
WARNING
SYSTEM MAINTENANCE AND TESTING—It is the responsibility of the facility
to establish and facilitate a regular maintenance schedule for your system, as
outlined in the current Series Software Administrator Guide. This includes regular
inspection, testing, and cleaning. RF Technologies, Inc. recommends monthly
maintenance and testing of your system. It is also recommended that your facility
keep records of maintenance and test completions.
Failure to provide regular maintenance and testing of these products may result in
equipment and/orsystemfailure.
CAUTION
DISPOSAL—At the end of their service life the products described in this manual,
as well as accessories (i.e. alkaline battery, disposable pads, etc.), must be disposed
of in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local guidelines regulating the
disposal of products containing potential environmental contaminants. Dispose of
the packaging material by observing the applicable waste control regulations.

Installation and Operation
Overview
The Application Disruption Alarm monitors the operational status of a Server by
requiring periodic communication in order to avoid annunciating a Trouble
Condition. The Application Disruption Alarm provides the peace of mind you
need by ensuring that your RF Technologies’ Server computer is operational.
Installation
Install Driver Software
The Application Disruption Alarm is compatible with RF Technologies’
software Series 7.0 or greater. It is necessary to install the driver software
contained on the 0800-0387 USB Virtual COM Port Driver Software CD
onto the Server computer in use at your facility. Simply perform the
following steps to install the driver software:

To install driver software
1. Close the Client application on the Server computer.
2. Open the CD drive slot of the Server computer.
3. Insert the Software CD into the CD drive slot.
4. Close the CD drive slot of the Server computer.
5. Open the File Explorer application within the Windows operating
system.
6. Locate the CD Drive within File Explorer.
7. Double-Left-Click the installation file contained on the CD Drive as
shown within File Explorer to execute it; it should be named CDM
2.04.16.exe, or similar.
8. Depending upon the Windows Operating System settings, you may
be required to click Run within an Open File - Security Warning
dialog in order to allow the installation program to execute.
9. The USB Virtual COM Port Driver software opens a program
window while the software is installed and configured on the Server
computer.
10. Wait a few moments for the software program installation to
complete and close its window.
11. Open the CD drive slot of the Server computer.
12. Remove the Software CD from the CD drive slot.
13. Close the CD drive of the Server computer.
14. Store the Software CD in a safe place in case of future need.
15. If you desire, you may close the File Explorer application window.
16. Continue with the next section in order to correctly install the
Application Disruption Alarm hardware.

Install Hardware
Once the required USB Virtual COM Port Driver software has been
installed on the Server system computer, you are ready to install the
Application Disruption Alarm hardware by simply performing the
following steps.
To install hardware
1. Locate a convenient place to rest the Application Disruption Alarm
enclosure where its speaker will not be blocked.
2. Locate a convenient source of 120VAC main power and plug in the
included power adapter.
3. Connect the end of the power adapter cord into the power jack in the
Application Disruption Alarm enclosure.
4. Verify that the Green LED on the face of the Application Disruption
Alarm enclosure is illuminated, indicating that the device is
operational.
5. Connect one end of the included USB cable into the USB receptacle
in the Application Disruption Alarm enclosure opposite of the power
jack.
NOTE:So that the ADA can be placed near the Server but remain where its
speakers are not blocked and can be heard (e.g. outside of a closet), it is
recommended that a 10 foot USB cable is used.
6. Connect the opposite end of the USB cable into an available USB
port on the system Server computer.
7. Re-start the Server computer.
8. After the RF Technologies’ software has finished loading, the
Application Disruption Alarm will enter into a silent monitoring state.
NOTE:The Application Disruption Alarm MUST be connected when the
RF Technologies’ software initially starts up. If it is not, the software will
not recognize it and the Application Disruption Alarm will alarm.

Operation
The Application Disruption Alarm acts as a silent sentinel, assuring
proper operation of the system. Any problem with the software or
hardware will cause the Application Disruption Alarm to break its silence
and warn you of the Trouble Condition within 90 seconds.
The Green LED on the face of the Application Disruption Alarm
enclosure indicates proper operation of the Application Disruption Alarm.
The Red LED on the face of the Application Disruption Alarm indicates a
Trouble Condition when illuminated. The speaker in the face of the
Application Disruption Alarm enclosure will sound its audible alarm
when a Trouble Condition is present.
It is recommended that a periodic inspection of the Application
Disruption Alarm hardware be accomplished to ensure that the Green
LED is illuminated, giving you the assurance of proper operation of the
RF Technologies’ Server computer.

Troubleshooting
If the Green LED on the face of the Application Disruption Alarm
enclosure is not illuminated, the Application Disruption Alarm is not
operating properly, most likely due to a lack of power. Ensure that the
Application Disruption Alarm's power adapter is plugged-in to a proper
source of 120VAC main power and that the adapter's cord is connected to
the power jack in the enclosure.
If a Trouble Condition is indicated by the Red LED on the face of the
Application Disruption Alarm enclosure being illuminated and the
speaker audibly sounding the alert, improper operation of the Server
computer is indicated. Following are some possible causes and their
remedy.
