youlosecontrolortheradioappearstohaveinterferencedonot
attempttofly.Rectifytheproblemandrepeattheabove
procedureuntila satisfactoryresultisaccomplished.

Choosea calm,brightdaytotestflyyourTrainer40.Itishighly
recommendedthatyourclubinstructorconductsthetestflight
andtrimsoutthemodelforyou,butifthisisnotpossible,and
theflyingsiterulesallowbeginnerstoflyunsupervised,follow
theinstructionsbelow.
Onsmoothground,placethemodelpointingintowind.Holdthe
modelwhilstyouruntheenginetomaximumpowerandmake
afinalcheckthatallthecontrolsoperatecorrectly.
^elevatoratneutralandwhenreadyopenthethrottle
smoothlyandpositivelyandtheTrainer40willaccelerate.A
smallamountofrightrudderwillbeneededtoholdthemodel
straightduringthetakeoff.Asthemodel'sspeedincreasesthe
modelwillbecomelight.Atthispointgentlyapplyupelevatorto
lifttheTrainer40 offtheground.Holdtheelevatormovement
andcontinueclimbing,keepingthewingslevelwithsmallinputs
ofaileron.Theruddercanbereturnedtoneutralforthe
remainderoftheflight.
Oncea comfortableheighthasbeenreached,entera turn
directionthatwilltakethemodelawayfromanyspectators.Use
onlysmallaileronandelevatorinputs.Flyawayfromyourselffor
ashortdistanceandturnagain,thistimeontoa downwind
heading.Themodelshouldbeclimbingsteadilythroughoutwith
ampleairspeed.Continuetoflydownwindandthenmake
anotherturntoflycrosswindbacktowardsyourself.Makeone
moreturnto alignthemodelbackintowindandpointing
towardsthetakeoffarea.Reducethethrottletoa cruise,
maintainingsufficientpowertoholdthemodel'sheightand
airspeed.Itislikelythatwiththeelevatorreturnedtoneutralthe
Tl^pllmaywanttosinkorclimbandthisshouldbecorrected
usingtheelevatortrimcontrol.Likewise,thewingsmaywant
tobankleftorrightwithneutralaileron.Again,thiscanbe
trimmedoutusingtheailerontrim.
Withthetrimminghavingtakenplaceduringthemodel'sinto
windflightyoucannowenteranotherturn,againina direction
awayfromanyspectators,andflyanothercircuit,adjustingthe
engine'sthrottletomaintaina constantheight.Thisisthe
correctwaytocontrolthemodelsaltitude,NOTbypullingor
pushingwiththeelevatorcontrol.
Rememberthatairspeed= safety!Flyingtooslowly,themodel
maystall(loselift)andcrash.
Itisgoodpracticetoflybothlefthandandrighthandturnsso
large,smoothfigureofeightturnsshouldbeattempted.Donot
allowthemodeltoflyanuncomfortabledistanceawayfromyou
ortodriftina directiontowardsspectators.Practiceclimbing
anddescendingusingtheengine throttleasa controlbutalways
leavingplentyofheightforrecovery,shoulditbenecessary.
Asyouperhapsarenowaware,modelflyingrequiresa three
dimensionalskill- butisveryrewardingonceaccomplished!
Toleaveamplefuelfora misjudgedapproach,aftersevenor
eightminutesofflyingentera landingcircuit.Dothisby
reducingthethrottleanddescendingdownwindparallelwiththe
takeoffareaata comfortabledistanceout.Turnthemodel
crosswindtowardsyoudescendinggradually,andturnonce
moreintoa positiondirectlyintowindandheadingtowardsthe
landingarea.Carefullyadjustthethrottleaimingtodescend the
modelontothelandingstrip,keepingthewingshorizontalwith
smallaileroninputs.Asthemodelcrossesoverthestrip,reduce
the.throttletoidleandallowthemodeltoglideontothe
approach.Neartotheground gentlyapplya smallamountofup
elevatortoraisethemodel'snose,slowingthemodelandflaring
out.Judgedcorrectly,themainwheelsshouldtouchtheground
justasthemodel'swingliftcannolongersupportthe
aircraft, themodellandingattheslowestpossibleairspeed.
Allowthemodeltocometorest,stoptheengine usingthe
throttletrim,switchoffthereceiverandtransmitter,andthen
takea well-earnedrest!
Withmoreflying,confidencewillgrowandtheTrainer40's
flightenvelopecanbefullyexplored.Slowflying,stallingand
recovery,loops,rolls,stallturns,invertedflightandmoreareall
possibleBUTonlytobeattemptedforthefirsttimewithplenty
