Mains operation
1. Placeyourradioonaflatsurface.
2. Plug the mains lead into the Socket located on the rear of your radio
ensuringthatthe plug ispushedfully into thesocket.
3. Plugtheotherendofthemainsleadintoawallsocketandswitchonthe
wallsocket.

Operating your radio - DAB
1. Fullyextendthetelescopicaerial.
2. PresstheOn/Offbuttontoswitchonyourradio.Thedisplaywillshow
"RobertsDAB digital radio"for afewseconds.
3. IfthisisthefirsttimetheradioisusedaquickscanofUKBandIIIDAB
channels will be carried out. The display will show "Autotune Quick
scan". If the radio has been used before the last used station will be
selected.
4. DuringAutotuneaseachgroupofstationsisdetectedthebottomline
ofthedisplaywillshowitsnameandthestationcountwillbeupdated.
Thetoplineofthedisplayshowsabargraphindicatingprogressofthe
Autotune.
5. WhentheAutotuneiscompletethefirststation(innumeric-alphaorder
0...9...A....Z)willbeselected.
6. IfthestationlistisstillemptyaftertheAutotuneyourradiowilldisplay
"NoSignal".
7. Ifnosignalsarefound itmaybe necessary torelocate your radiotoa
positiongivingbetterreception.

Selecting a station - DAB
1. The top line of the display shows the name of the station currently
selected.
2. RotatetheTuningcontroltoscrollthroughthelistofavailablestations.
StoprotatingtheTuningcontrolwhenyoufindthestationthatyouwish
tohear.
3. PressandreleasetheTuningcontroltoselectthestation.Thedisplay
mayshow"Tuning"whileyourradiofindsthe newstation.
4. AdjusttheVolume,ToneandDeepbassboostswitchtotherequired
settings.
Note: If after selecting a station the display continues to show "Not
Available"itmaybenecessarytorelocateyourradiotoapositiongiving
betterreception.

Display modes - DAB
Yourradiohasfivedisplaymodes:-
1. PresstheInfobuttontocyclethroughthe various modes.
a.Scrollingtext Displaysscrollingtextmessagessuch
asartist/trackname,phoneinnumber,
etc.
b.Programmetype Displaystypeofstationbeinglistenedto
e.g.Pop, Classic,News, etc.
c.MultiplexName Displaysnameofmultiplextowhich
current stationbelongs.
d.Signalstrength Displayssignalstrengthforstationbeing
listenedto.
e.Timeanddate Displayscurrenttimeanddate.
Secondary services - DAB
1. Certainradiostationshaveoneormoresecondaryservicesassociated
with them. If a station has a secondary service associated with it the
display will show ">" next to the station name on the station list. The
secondaryservicewillthenappearimmediatelyaftertheprimaryservice
asyourotatethetuningcontrolclockwise.

Finding new stations - DAB
Astimepassesnewstationsmaybecomeavailable. Tofindnewstations
proceedasfollows:-
1. PressandreleasetheAutoTunebutton,thedisplaywillshow"Autotune
QuickScan".YourradiowillperformascanoftheUKDABfrequencies.
Asnewstationsarefoundthestationcounterontheright-handsideof
thedisplaywillincreaseandstationswillbeaddedtothe list
2. TocarryoutafullscanoftheentireDABBandIIIfrequenciespressand
hold down the AutoTune button for more than 2 seconds and then
release.Thedisplaywillshow"AutotuneFullscan".Asnewstationsare
found the station counter on the right-hand side of the display will
increaseandstationswillbeaddedtothelist
Autoselect - DAB
Asanalternativetopressingthetuningcontroltoselectastationyourradio
canbesetsoastoautomaticallyselectastation.
1. RotatetheTuningcontrolafewclicksineitherdirection,immediately
pressandholdinthetuningcontroluntilthedisplayshows"Autoselect
ON".
2. RotatetheTuningcontroluntilthestationyourequireisvisibleonthe
display, after a few seconds your radio will automatically select the
stationshownonthedisplay.
3. ToswitchoffAutoselectrotatetheTuningcontrolafewclicksineither
direction,immediatelypress and holdinthe Tuning control untilthe
displayshows"AutoselectOFF".

Manual Tuning - DAB
Manual tuning allows you to tune directly to the various DAB Band III
channels.UK DAB stationslocated in therange 11B to12D.
1. PressandholdintheTuningcontroluntilthedisplayshows"Manual
tune".
2. RotatetheTuning control toselecttherequiredDABchannel.
3. Pressand releasetheTuningcontroltoselectthechannel.
4. RotatetheTuning control to selectthestationscontainedwithinthe
MultiplexfortheselectedDABchannel.
5. PressandreleasetheTuningcontroltoreturntonormaltuningmode.
Signal strength display - DAB
1. RepeatedlypressandreleasetheInfobuttonuntilthelowerlineofthe
displayshowssignalstrength.
2. Positionyourradio andangle thetelescopic aerial forbestreception
usingthesignalstrengthdisplayasa guide.Moveyourradioaroundand
positionsoastogivemaximumnumberofblackrectanglesonsignal
strengthdisplay.
3. Theclearunfilledrectangleindicatesminimumsignallevelrequiredfor
satisfactoryreception.

Operating your radio - FM

"RobertsDAB digital radio"for afewseconds.
3. Press the Band button to select the FM band.
4. PressandimmediatelyreleasetheAutoTunebutton,yourradiowill
scaninanupwardsdirection(lowfrequencytohighfrequency)andstop
automaticallywhenitfindsastationofsufficientstrength.
5. Aftera few seconds the display will update and show station name.
6. To find other stations press and release the AutoTune button as
before.
7. ToscantheFMbandinadownwardsdirection(highfrequencytolow
frequency)pressandholddowntheAutoTunebuttonfor0.5seconds
andthenrelease.
8. Whenthewavebandendisreachedyourradiowillrecommencetuning
fromtheoppositewavebandend.
9. AdjusttheVolume,ToneandDeepbassboostswitchtotherequired
settings.
10. To switch off your radio press the On/Off button.

Manual tuning - FM
1. Press the On/Off button to switch on your radio.
2. Press the Band button to select the FM band. Fully extend the
Telescopicaerial.
3. Rotate the Tuning control to tune to a station. The frequency will
changein steps of50kHz.
4. Whenthewavebandendisreachedtheradiowillrecommence tuning
fromtheoppositewavebandend.
5. Set the Volume, Tone and Deep bass boost switch tothe desired
settings.
6. To switch off your radio press the On/Off button.

Display modes - FM
On FM the bottom line of the display can be set to any of the following
modes:-
1. PresstheInfobuttontocyclethroughthe various modes.
a.Scrollingtext Displaysscrollingtextmessagessuch
asartist/trackname,phoneinnumber
etc.
b.ProgramType Displaystypeofstationbeinglistenedto
e.g.Pop, Classic,News, etc.
c.Signalstrength Displayssignalstrengthforstationbeing
listenedto.
d.Timeanddate Displayscurrenttimeanddate.
e.Frequency Displaysfrequencyofthestationbeing
listenedto.
f.Audiomode DisplayshowsAuto(stereo)ormono.
FM Stereo/Mono
1. Ifastationbeingreceivedisweaksomehissmaybeaudible.Toreduce
thehisspressandholdintheTuning control until the display shows
"Audiomode:mono"yourradio will switch to monomode.
2. Toreturn to stereo mode press and hold in the Tuning control until
thedisplayshows"Audiomode:Auto",yourradiowill switch tostereo
mode.
Note:FMstereoisonlyavailablewhenusingearphone/headphones

Presetting stations - DAB and FM
Thereare5memorypresetsforeachofthe2wavebands.
1. Press the On/Off button switch on the radio.
2. Tunetotherequiredstationaspreviouslydescribed.
3. PressandholddowntherequiredPresetbuttonuntilthedisplayshows
e.g. "Preset 1 stored". The station will be stored under the chosen
presetbutton.Repeatthisprocedurefortheremainingpresets.
4. Stationsstoredinpresetmemoriesmaybeoverwrittenbyfollowingthe
aboveprocedure.
Recalling a preset station - DAB and FM
1. Press the On/Off button to switch on the radio.
2. SelecttherequiredwavebandbypressingtheBandbutton.
3. MomentarilypresstherequiredPresetbutton,yourradiowilltuneto
thestationstoredinpresetmemory.

System reset
If your radio fails to operate correctly, or some digits on the display are
missingorincompletecarryoutthefollowingprocedure.
1. Switchoff your radio.
2. Switchonyourradio-assoonasthescreenshows"RobertsDABdigital
radio" press and hold in the Tuning control until the display shows
"SystemReset".
3. Afullresetwillbeperformed.Allpresetsandstationlistswillbeerased.
4. If DAB was used last then a "Quick scan" of the DAB band will be
performed,otherwisea "Quickscan"willbecarriedoutthenexttimethe
DABbandisselected.

Headphone and optical output sockets
1. A 3.5mm Headphone Socket located on the rear of your radio is
providedforusewitheitherheadphonesoranearpiece.Insertingaplug
automaticallymutestheinternalloudspeaker.
2. A digital optical output socket is provided on the rear of you radio for
connectiontoaanamplifier,mini-discorotherequipmentwithadigital
opticalinput.
Display backlight
1. The display backlight can be switched on and off using the Light
button.

Remote handset battery replacement
1. With the aid of the end of a paper clip slide catch in direction shown.
2. Removebatteryholderbypushingholderindirectionshown.
3. Removebatteryfromholder.
4. Replace battery (2025 or equivalent) ensuring that positive side of
batteryfacesyouwithholderpositioned asshown.
5. Replacethebatteryholder.

Using the remote control
Thebuttonsontheremotecontrolhavethesamefunctionsasfrontpanel
controlswithtwoexceptions:-
1. Mute-pressthis buttonto mutesound, press againto restore
sound.
2. StandBy-pressthisbuttontoplaceunitinStandBymode,yourradio
willenterpowerdownstatebuttheclockwillremainactive.TheStandBy
indicatorwilllight.
IfthefrontpanelOn/OffbuttonispressedduringStandByyourradiowill
switchoff and clockdisplay will notbe visible.
Note:thefrontpanelOn/Offcontrolwillreturnunittoitspreviousstate
priortotheOn/Offbuttonbeingusedi.e.IfradioisinStandBymodeand
On/Offbutton isused toswitch off radio - when On/Off button is used
toswitchbackonradio will powerupinStandBymode.
or
IfradioisinOnmodeandOn/Offbuttonisusedtoswitchoffradio-when
On/OffbuttonisusedtoswitchbackonradiowillpowerupinOnmode.

Clock display
1. YourradiowilldisplayclocktimewheninsettoStandBymodeusingthe
remotehandset.
2. DuringStandBymodetheclockwillreceiveupdatesfromthelaststation
tunedtobeforeenteringstanbymode.
When in StandBy mode your radios clock will automatically track
Summer\Wintertimechanges.
3. The clock will not show in the display when the radio is switched off
usingthe theOn/Off buttonon thefront panel
