PRODUCT SPECIFIC SAFETY WARNINGS
> The edges of a cabinet scraper can be very sharp. Exercise
caution when handling the cabinet scraper and keep hands
away from the cutting edge to avoid personal injury.
> Some dust, fumes and gases created by sanding, sawing,
grinding, drilling, welding and other construction activities
contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause
cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For
File Edge
1. Secure the cabinet card scraper in a vise, with the edge to
be sharpened at the top.
2. Position the 3-in-1 Cabinet Scraper Sharpening Tool so the
embedded file will contact the dull edge of the scraper. The
area of the tool marked “1 File” will be against the edge of the
scraper, keeping the scraper at 90° to the file.
3. Make 10 to 15 passes with the Sharpening Tool along the
entire edge of the scraper to remove the dull edge and create
a new square edge.
Hone Edge
1. With the cabinet scraper still secured in the vise, flip the
Sharpening Tool so the embedded diamond hone is against
the edge you just filed. The area of the tool marked “2 Hone”
will be against the edge of the scraper, keeping the scraper at
90° to the diamond hone.
2. Make 10 to 15 passes with the Sharpening Tool along the
entire edge of the scraper to hone the edge.
File Edge Hone Edge
Cabinet scrapers become dull very quickly.
Expect to sharpen a scraper multiple times during use.
Do NOT let the edge of your scraper cut into the areas of
the 3-in-1 Cabinet Scraper Sharpening Tool indicated by the
textured line patterns.

Your risk from these exposures varies, depending on how
often you do this type of work. To reduce your exposure to
these chemicals: work in a well ventilated area, and work
with approved safety equipment, such as those dust masks
that are specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.

Draw the Burr
1. Remove the cabinet scraper from the vise and place it flat
on a flat, stable work surface. Make sure the scraper is
fully supported.
2. Orient the Sharpening Tool so that the hardened steel
burnishing rod is parallel to the face of the scraper. The area
marked “3 Burr Draw (Faces)” will be 90° to the honed edge
of the scraper.
3. Tilt the Sharpening Tool slightly away from the face of the
cabinet scraper. Then, maintaining downward pressure,
slowly slide the hardened steel burnishing rod along the face
of the cabinet scraper several times to draw out the burr on
the edge. Take care not to let the scraper edge contact or dig
into the blue plastic face of the tool. Fig. 1.
Turn the Burr
1. Secure the cabinet card scraper back in the vise, with the face
that has the drawn burr oriented away from you.
2. Position the Sharpening Tool so that the angled face -- marked
“4 Burr Turn (Edge)” -- is against the face of the scraper that
doesn’t have the burr.
3. Keeping the angled face of the tool against the scraper, press
down and slowly slide the hardened steel burnishing rod along
the edge of the scraper to turn the burr on the opposite face
into a hook-shaped cutting edge. Make several passes.
4. Carefully check the cutting edge. If necessary, repeat Step 3
until the burr is turned.
