The assembly instruction describes the handling of the transport case R&S ZZK-
Case (1174.1443.02). As a transport aid you can use it for the following instru-
ments with the specified dimensions (including front handles and feet):
●R&S®SMA100B RF and Microwave Signal Generator (1419.8888.02) with
platform height option SMAB-B92 (1420.8288.04) 2 HU
●R&S®SMA100B RF and Microwave Signal Generator (1419.8888.02) with
platform height option SMAB-B93 (1420.8388.04) 3HU

1 Introduction
1.1 Intended Use
The R&S ZZK-Case is intended to offer a secure possibility to carry
Rohde & Schwarz instruments within the listed dimensions:

Risk of R&S ZZK-Case damage
The R&S ZZK-Case is intended for personal carry on of the specified instru-
ments only.
Shipping the R&S ZZK-Case or carrying devices other than specified can
damage the R&S ZZK-Case and the components inside.
Never use the R&S ZZK-Case for shipping. For shipping see the instru-
ments user manual, section "Transporting".
Never use the R&S ZZK-Case for other devices than specified.
Risk of R&S ZZK-Case content damage
Long term storing of instruments inside the R&S ZZK-Case can damage the
foam insert. A secure fit for the instrument can no longer be assured and
can lead to instrument damage.
Always take out an instrument from the R&S ZZK-Case when not in use for
transportation.

2 How to Insert the Instrument
2.1 Preparing the R&S ZZK-Case
To prepare the R&S ZZK-Case, follow these steps:
1. Push down the pull-out handle (1) until it is flush with the outer shell (3).
2. Lay the R&S ZZK-Case flat with the butterfly catches (9) facing towards you.
3. Remove the lock from the security hasp (8) if needed.
4. Unlock the R&S ZZK-Case by turning each butterfly catch (9) until they spring
open.
5. CAUTION! Heavy object. If the lid is not properly opened, it can fall down and
cause injuries.
Open the lid (5) until the lid rests on the sidestraps (7).
6. Take out the additional foam spacer (6).
The R&S ZZK-Case is prepared for inserting an instrument.
2.2 Inserting the Instrument
To insert the instrument into the R&S ZZK-Case:
1. CAUTION! Heavy object. The instrument can be heavy, e.g., if fully equipped.
If weight exceeds 18 kg, carry the instrument with two people.
Use the carrying handles at the side for lifting and carrying the instrument.
Lower the instrument carefully into the R&S ZZK-Case, so the instrument and
the engravement in the foam insert (10) align.
The instrument must be right side up and the front must face right.
2. For instruments with a height of 2 HU: Insert the additional foam spacer (6) on
top of instrument.

3. For instruments with a height of 3 HU: Store the additional foam spacer (6) in
a safe place for later use.
The instrument is ready for transportation.
2.3 Closing the R&S ZZK-Case
To close the R&S ZZK-Case:
1. Close the lid (5).
2. Close the butterfly catch (9) by turning for a full revolution.
3. If needed, secure the transport case by locking the security hasp (8) with a
lock.

portation
Before transporting, make sure the R&S ZZK-Case is properly closed. See Chap-
ter 2.3, "Closing the R&S ZZK-Case", on page 7
1. CAUTION! Heavy object. The loaded Transport Case can be heavy.
If weight exceeds 18 kg, carry the Transport Case with two people.
Place the Transport Case in an upright position with the rolling wheels (11) on
the ground.
2. Adjust the pull-out handle (1) to desired length.
The R&S ZZK-Case is ready for transportation.

4 Taking Out the Instrument
To remove the instrument out of the R&S ZZK-Case:
►CAUTION! Heavy object. The instrument can be heavy, e.g., if fully equipped.
If weight exceeds 18 kg, carry the instrument with two people.
Use the carrying handles at the side for lifting and carrying the instrument.
Lift the instrument carefully out of the R&S ZZK-Case.
