HARMONY™ Cushion
About this Manual
The HARMONY Cushion User Manual includes information regard-
ing the use and proper care of your new cushion. Please read these
instructions in full before using this product. Proper adjustment of
the AIR FLOATATION™cushion overlay is critical to assist in protect-
ing your skin from breakdown.
About the HARMONY Cushion
The HARMONY Cushion combines an AIR FLOATATION Cushion Overlay and a contoured foam
base. By combining the characteristics of the original ROHO DRY FLOATATION®Technology
with a contoured foam base, the HARMONY Cushion enhances skin protection, positioning,
mobility, and comfort. Tissue protection focuses on your ischia, sacrum, and coccyx, while
stability and positioning are targeted at the pelvis and thighs. An easily accessible valve allows
you to adjust the cushion insert, and a fluid-resistant, antimicrobial cover combines fluid pro-
tection with breathability.
To avoid the hazards identified below, check your cushion daily to determine
that the cushion is properly adjusted and in proper working order.
DEFLATION: Loss of air in cushion can result in bottoming out (see below),
eliminating (if not immediately fixed) the characteristics of the cushion that assist
in healing and preventing ischemic ulcers. It is your responsibility to check the
cushion daily or have it checked and to use the cushion appropriately.
BOTTOMING OUT: Too much air being released from your cushion can cause
your lowest bony prominence to touch the cushion base. This decreases the ther-
apeutic value of the cushion and could result in skin breakdown (ischemic ulcers).
Product should be adjusted so approximately 1/2" - 1" of air is maintained
between the AIR FLOATATION cushion overlay and your lowest bony prominence.
DO NOT:
• expose cushion to pins or sharp objects.
• expose cushion or cover to hot ashes or any open flames.
• use the air valve as a handle.
• use oil based lotion or lanolin on your cushion.
• use the cushion as a water flotation device.
• autoclave cushion because closed valve may increase internal pressure and
cause cushion to rupture.
Please contact The ROHO Group or your nearest Rehabilitation Technology Supplier or dis-
tributor immediately if deflation or bottoming out that you cannot remedy is occurring for
any reason.

HARMONY Cushion
Parts Detail
A. Cushion Overlay / Cells: The ROHO Group refers to its individual
air pockets as "cells". The section of the cushion with the air cells
is referred to as the cushion overlay, or AIR FLOATATION cushion
overlay.
B. Contoured Foam: A contoured foam base that is specially shaped
to enhance stability and position pelvis and thighs. The foam base
sits in the bottom pocket of the cover.
C. Air Valve: The valve is used to adjust the amount of air in the
cushion overlay. The valve should NOT be used for lifting
or carrying.
D. Valve Flap: The valve is hidden by a flap on the left side of the
cover
E. Fluid-resistant, anti-microbial, stretchable cover: A cover is
included to protect the foam from outside fluids. It is also anti-
microbial and stretchable. The Cushion overlay sits in the top
pocket of the cover.
F. ROHO Pump: The ROHO Pump is used to inflate the AIR
FLOATATION cushion overlay.

Placing the HARMONY Cushion on Your Wheelchair
Place the HARMONY Cushion on your wheelchair
so that the contoured foam area is in the front
portion of the wheelchair seat. The AIR
FLOATATION cushion overlay sits in the upper por-
tion of the cover. The cushion should be placed on
the seat so that the cushion overlay cells are facing
upward.
The cover should be on the cushion so that the zipper area is in the
back portion of the wheelchair seat and the side logo is in the front
left corner. The non-skid material is on the bottom of the cover.
Adjusting the AIR FLOATATION Cushion Overlay
IMPORTANT! Do Not Skip This Section.
Step 1: Open air valve by
twisting it counter-clockwise.
(Air valve is located behind
flap on the left side of the
cushion, toward the front.)
Step 2: Attach the rubber
hose on the ROHO Pump to
the end of the valve. Inflate
the cushion overlay with the
pump until the cushion
begins to arch.
Step 3: Remove the pump
hose from the valve and close
the valve by twisting it clock-
wise.
Step 4: Sit on the
HARMONY Cushion in your
normal sitting position with
armrests and footrests
properly adjusted.

6
Step 5: Slide your hand beneath
your buttocks to locate your
lowest bony prominence,
usually the ischial tuberosities.
If necessary, your clinician or
caregiver should assist you.
Step 6: Leaving one hand in
place beneath the lowest
bony prominence, use the
other hand to open the valve.
As air is released from the
cushion overlay, you will
begin to sink into it. When
your fingertips touch its
base, close the valve.
Approximately 1/2" - 1" of air
should be between your low-
est prominence and the base
of the cushion.
IMPORTANT Adjustment Notes
• You, your clinician(s) and / or caregiver(s) should check the cush-
ion overlay daily to ensure that you have not bottomed out (ie. lost
air and sitting on the base of the cushion). If you bottom out, the
therapeutic value of the cushion overlay is lost. You should also
check to be sure the cushion overlay is not over-filled with air. The
cushion overlay will work best with approximately 1/2" - 1" of air
between you and its base.
• The AIR FLOATATION cushion overlay may be affected by changes
in altitude. You may have to repeat Steps 1 - 6 above as you
change altitudes.

Cleaning Your HARMONY Cushion
To clean the AIR FLOATATION cushion overlay:gently pull overlay out of the
cover and the valve out of the side of the cover. Deflate the cushion, close valve(s)
and place in a large sink. Gently scrub the air cells and the spaces between them
with a soft plastic bristle brush, sponge, or washcloth. The ROHO Group suggests
using a mild soap and warm water to clean the overlay. Do not use bleach when
cleaning this product.
To clean the foam base:wipe gently with a cloth dampened with water and/or a
household cleaning disinfectant. Allow foam to dry thoroughly. Do not immerse the
foam in water.
To disinfect the foam base:wipe gently with a cloth dampened with a household
cleaning disinfectant. Allow foam to dry thoroughly. Do not immerse the foam in
water. Do not autoclave.
To clean the cover:Machine wash in cold water. No bleach. Air dry.
REPAIRING LEAKS
You should protect your HARMONY Cushion from pins or other sharp objects and
from exposure to hot ashes or any open flame. If your AIR FLOATATION cushion
overlay is punctured, you can repair it using the Patch Kit included. Follow the direc-
tions with the kit to repair the leak. The patch should be monitored periodically to
ensure its effectiveness.
RETURN POLICY
All returns require prior authorization from The ROHO Group and are subject to a
restocking charge. If you live outside the U.S.A., contact the distributor or dealer in
your country or contact ROHO International to find a distributor near you.
