Introduction
Downloading Software
The soware (Windows driver and applicaon soware) required to use the machine can be down-
loaded from the following URL.
Aer downloading the soware, install it on your computer.

Installable Software
Windows driver
This is a Windows-based driver required for sending data from a computer
to the machine. Be sure to install it.
It installs a VBA add-on in Adobe Illustrator and CorelDRAW to make it
easier to use the Automac Aligning System (AAS) used during prinng and
cung.
GreatCut-R
This is cung soware designed for Windows that can perform high-qual-
ity cung with simple operaons. The manual for this soware is incorpo-
rated in the Help les.
File UpLoader This soware obtains data for the Automac Aligning System (AAS) oset
test performed when osets occur with the AAS.
AAS Oset Test Files This is a group of AAS oset test les (for prinng and sending data).
In an arbitrary locaon, create a folder in which to download the soware. Then, download all the
installers to this folder.

Software License Registration
To use GreatCut-R as its regular edion, access the following URL and register your license.

MEMO
License registraon requires a voucher code, so make sure it is ready.
Voucher code
This code is the alphanumeric character string starng with "KROL" and consisng of four charac-
ters-ve characters-ve characters-ve characters-ve characters. It is listed on the cover of the
English version of the setup guide included with the machine.
Procedure
A Enter the voucher code in the eld, and then click [Go On!].
Including hyphens, enter the alphanumeric character string exactly as it appears on the cover of
the English version of the setup guide included with the machine.
B When the following screen appears, click [Request].
The Soware Registraon page appears.

C Enter the items indicated with the mark.
D Click [Request license code].
The registraon informaon is sent to the soware administrator, and the following message
appears.
MEMO
Two email messages are sent to the registered address upon the compleon of license registra-
on. These messages contain informaon required for license authencaon, so save or print
them.

1. Network Settings (LAN Connection)
The examples used in the procedures for making the sengs described in this secon assume you
are using one computer and one machine. The sengs listed here are only an example. The pro-
cedure and sengs given in this manual do not match every environment. If the computer you're
using is connected to a number of networked devices or to the Internet, incorrect sengs may ad-
versely aect the enre network. For detailed informaon about the sengs, consult your network
administrator.
Determining the Network Addresses
Determine the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway to connect the computer and this ma-
chine via a LAN.

254. Ensure that they are dierent from the
numbers of other network equipment.

may not be necessary to set this number, so
check with your network administrator.
Setting the Computer's Network
This step is not necessary when connecng to an exisng network environment.
Procedure
A Log on to Windows as the "Administrator" or a member of the "Administrators"
group.
B Display the "Ethernet Properes" screen.

C Select [Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)], and then click [Properes].
If the [Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)] check box was clear, click the check box to select
it.
D Select [Use the following IP address], and then enter the network address you deter-
mined under P. 6 "Determining the Network Addresses".
E Click [OK].
F Close all the open windows.

Setting the Cutting Machine's Network
Procedure
A Switch on the power.
Remove any material loaded in the machine.
B Press [MISC] on the operaon panel when the following screen appears.
If the paper sensor detects material, the following screen does not appear.
Off Line
Setup Mode
C Press [ ] several mes to display the screen shown below.
IP Address
Select: Ok:ENTER
D Press [ENTER].
E Set the IP address.

Press [ ] or [ ] to enter the IP address you determined under P. 6 "Determining the
Network Addresses".
Press [ ] or [ ] to move the cursor.

F Set the subnet mask and default gateway in the same manner as step E.
G Switch o the power.

This secon explains the procedure for installing the cung machine driver on the computer.
You can connect this machine to the computer using a USB cable, Ethernet cable, or RS-232C cable.
MEMO
The driver cannot be installed if material is detected by the machine's paper sensor. Install the driver
before seng up the material in the machine.
Installing the Driver (USB Connection)
Follow the procedure to install the driver. Failure to follow the correct procedure may make installa-
on impossible.
Procedure
A Start Windows and log on as the "Administrator" or an "Administrators" account.
Shut down all other programs.
B Open the downloaded folder, and then double-click "Cuer_Ploer_driver.exe."
The le name extension (.exe) may be hidden.
C If a "User Account Control" window appears, click "Yes."
If you're prompted to restart, click [Cancel].
D When the following screen appears, select [USB].
E Check that automac updang has been disabled in Windows Update, and then click
[OK].
Click the red text on the screen for detailed instrucons.
F Connect the machine to the computer with a USB cable and turn on the machine.

G Click [OK].
H Check that all other applicaons have been shut down, and then click [OK].
The installaon begins.
If the driver is already installed, the following screen will appear. Click "Yes."
I When the following message appears, click [OK].

F Select the communicaon port on the computer, and then use [Machine] to select the
model of the machine.
G Click [Install].
The installaon begins.
If the driver is already installed, the following screen will appear. Click "Yes."
H When the following message appears, click [OK].
The driver installaon is nished.

I To install AAS II VBA in CorelDRAW and Adobe Illustrator, click [Install] when the fol-
lowing screen appears.
When the following screen appears, the installaon is nished. Click [OK].
Setting RS-232C Communication
Check the communicaon sengs of the machine and ensure they are the same as those of the
computer. If they are dierent, the machine will not operate correctly.
Procedure
A Turn on the machine.
B Press [MISC] on the operaon panel.
If material has been loaded in the machine, press [ON/OFF LINE] to switch to oine mode.
C Press [ ] several mes to display the screen shown below.
Set communication
Select: OK:ENTER
D Press [ENTER], and then check the communicaon sengs of the machine.
The current communicaon sengs are displayed.
Change: OK:ENTER

H Click [Ports (COM & LPT)], and then click [Communicaons Port (COM1)] or [Commu-
nicaons Port (COM2)].
If [Ports (COM & LPT)] is not displayed in [Device Manager], turn on [Show hidden devices] in the
[View] menu. Select the port connected to the RS-232C interface for the communicaon port.
I Select the [Port Sengs] tab, and then select the same values as the communicaon
sengs for the machine set in step D.
Select [None] for [Flow control].
J Click [OK].

Installing GreatCut-R
Procedure
A Start Windows and log on as the "Administrator" or an "Administrators" account.
Shut down all other programs.
B Open the downloaded folder, and then double-click "greatcut-r.exe."
The le name extension (.exe) may be hidden.
C If a "User Account Control" window appears, click "Yes."
The wizard for preparing setup appears.
D When the following screen appears, click [Next].
E Click [Next].
Select [I accept the terms of the license agreement] to enable the [Next] buon.
