2.4GHz Wireless Lite-N PCI-E Adapter RNX-N150PCe Quick Installation Guide
The Quick Installation Guide will help you to install RNX-N150PCe 150M Wireless
Lite-N PCI-E Adapter, including basic hardware and software installation, as well as
configuration of wireless network availability. The Quick Installation bases on
establishing an unencrypted wireless network. For detailed instructions, please refer
to the User Guide in the Resource CD.
A. Hardware Installation
1. Turn off your desktop PC and disconnect the power.
2. Remove your PC case and locate an available PCI-E slot on the mianboard.
Remove the metal slot cover on the back of the PC. Check with your computer
manufacturer for instructions if needed.
3. Slide the PCI-E Adapter into the PCI-E slot. Make sure that all of its pins are
touching the slot's contacts. Once the adapter is firmly in place, secure its
fastening tab to your PC's chassis with a mounting screw. Then, close your PC
case.
4. Reconnect your PC’s power and turn on your desktop PC.
B. Software Installation for Windows XP
1. Insert the Resource CD into your CD-ROM drive. Find the CD/DVD drive where
the installation CD was placed. Open RNX-N150PCe folder, and double-click
Setup.exe. Then the following screen for preparing setup will appear.

Note:
1) If Windows XP warns about Windows Logo testing, click Continue Anyway
to continue the installation.
2) After the Installation, or will appear at the bottom of the screen in
your system tray. Otherwise, there may be some problems about the
installation, please check it seriously.
C. Configure wireless connection in Windows XP
a. Configure using Wireless Lite-N Client Utility
The Adapter's tray icon shows the signal strength using color and the received
signal strength indication (RSSI). If the icon is (green), a wireless connection
has been established. If the icon is (gray), there is no connection. Follow the
steps below to launch a wireless connection manually.
1. Double-click the icon , then the Wireless Lite-N Client Utility will appear, you
can also run the utility by clicking Start→All programs→Rosewill→Wireless
Lite-N Client Utility. On the prompted configuration tab page, click the Profile
Management, and you will see the next screen (Figure 2).

2. Click Scan on the screen above, and you will see a new screen (shown in
Figure 3), click Refresh, then the latest available Network will appear.

3. In the screen above, highlight a network name and click Activate, then you will
see the next screen (shown in Figure 4). Enter the Client Name and SSID, click
OK and you can connect to the network.

Note: If a well-balanced wireless network cannot be created, please refer to the User
Guide on the Resource CD or your dealer for help.
b. Configure using Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration
1. Windows XP will display a wireless Network Connection message (shown in
Figure 5). To use Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration, right-click on the
wireless computer icon in your system tray (lower-right corner), and then select
View Available Wireless Networks in the next screen.

2. After that, you will see the next screen (shown in Figure 6) with many available
wireless network choices. You can highlight a network and then click Connect
to add to a network.
Note: If you have not installed SP2 for Windows XP, the screens below will not be
available.

3. If the connection is finished, the icon will display like the next screen shown.

Note: If a well-balanced wireless network cannot be created, please refer to the User
Guide on the Resource CD or your dealer for help.
D. Software Installation for Windows 2000
The Software Installation for Windows 2000 is similar to Windows XP, you can refer
to the “B Software Installation for Windows XP” to complete the installation.
Note: During the installation, If Windows 2000 prompts "Digital Signature Not
Found", click Yes to continue the installation.

E. Configure wireless connection in Windows 2000
After installing the adapter, the adapter's tray icon will appear in your system
tray. To use the Wireless Lite-N Client Utility, double-click it. The steps for windows
2000 and windows XP are very similar. Please refer to “a Configure using Wireless
Lite-N Client Utility” in “C Configure wireless connection in Windows XP”.
F. Software Installation for Windows Vista
1. Insert the Resource CD into your CD-ROM drive. Find the CD/DVD drive where
the installation CD was placed. Open RNX-N150PCe folder, and double-click
Setup.exe. Then the following screen for preparing setup will appear.

2. Follow the step-by-step instructions screen to complete InstallShield Wizard
steps.
Note: If Windows Vista warns about Windows Logo testing, click Install this driver
software anyway to continue the installation.
G. Configure wireless connection in Windows Vista
After the Adapter's driver has been installed, Windows Vista will display a wireless
Network Connection message. Icon (green) means the connection has been
established. Icon (gray) means there is no connection. To use Windows WLAN
Autoconfig to establish a connection, please follow the steps below.
1. Right-click the icon in your system tray, then click “Connect to a network”.

2. The following screen (shown in Figure 10) will show you available wireless
networks. Highlight the one you want to join in, and then click Connect.

3. To continue, click Connect Anyway. To end the connection, click Cancel.
4. If the connection is successfully established, the following screen will appear.
Click Close to finish the connection.

Note: For more information about Windows Vista WLAN Autoconfig on a Windows
Vista computer, refer to Help and Support of the Operating System. If a
well-balanced wireless network cannot be created, please refer to the User
Guide on the Resource CD or your dealer for help.

H. Software Installation for Windows 7
1. Insert the Resource CD into your CD-ROM drive. Find the CD/DVD drive where
the installation CD was placed. Open RNX-N150PCe folder, and double-click
Setup.exe. Then the following screen for preparing setup will appear.

2. Follow the step-by-step instructions in the continued prompted screens to
complete InstallShield Wizard steps.
I. Configure wireless connection in Windows 7
After the Adapter's driver has been installed, please follow the steps below to use
Windows WLAN Autoconfig to establish a connection.
1. Click the icon at the bottom of your screen in your system tray and then
you will see the available wireless network list. Select the SSID of your Access
Point, take test for example. Click Connect.

2. If your wireless network is secured, you will be required to enter the security key
as shown in Figure 14. Enter the passphrase, take 1234567890 for example.
And then click OK.

3. If the key entered is correct, you will successfully connect to the network as
shown in Figure 15.

Note: For more information about Windows 7 WLAN Autoconfig on a Windows 7
computer, refer to Help and Support of the Operating System.
J. WPS configuration
WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) function allows the Adapter to join a wireless network
quickly.
Note: WPS function is not supported in Windows 7 OS.
If the wireless card supports Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), you can establish a
wireless connection between wireless card and router using either Push Button
Configuration (PBC) method or PIN method.
First, the WPS software should be installed. Insert the Resource CD into your
CD-ROM drive. Double-click My Computer, and then double-click the CD/DVD drive
where the installation CD was placed. Open RNX-N150PCe folder, and double-click
wps.exe. Then you will see Figure 16.

Please follow the clue of the continued screens to complete the WPS installation.
After that, WPS function can be enabled. Here we will introduce two ways to
configure the WPS (For the configuration of WPS. For more ways of WPS
configuration, please refer to the User Guide inside the CD attached in package).
1. PBC (Push Button Configuration)
1) Press the WPS button on the front panel of the Router.

2) Double click the icon on the desktop to open the WPS Utility and you will
see Figure 18. Click Next to continue.

3) Then select Push the button on my access point in the next screen shown in

4) Then wait a minute until Figure 20 appears. Click Finish to complete the WPS
configuration.

2. PIN method
1) Double click the icon on the desktop to open the WPS Utility and you will
see Figure 21. Click Next to continue.

2) Then Figure 22 will appear. Select the third option and enter the PIN value
which is generally labeled on the bottom of the router. Click Next.

3) When Figure 20 appears, the WPS configuration is complete.
Note: If you generate a new PIN code for your router, please enter the new one
instead.
