1Introduction
The PYR-2021wired PIR is a high-performance intrusion sensor
made with the highest level of SMD Components as well as
Microprocessor Technologies making it ideal for both
residential and commercial usage.
The PYR-2021's SSFL technology (look down) allows detection
at proximity of 50cm from its mounting location.
The PYR-2021include selectable pulse counting as well as
cover and wall tamper detection features. The PIR also
features a removable Curtain adapter from inside the Lens
that will allow the device to be used for focused detecting,
such as across window surfaces or down corridors.
The following pages outline the
installation and test instructions for
your new PYR-2021 PIR.

3Installation
3.1 General
The PYR-2021 is designed for easy installation. Only a few steps
are required to install the PIR device.
To enable the Curtain Adapter for PIR detection on a focused
area, such as a corridor, or across a window or opening, follow
the instruction outlined in section 4.
When you are sure of the mounting location, follow the steps
for mounting the PIR, on a flat surface or in a corner, described
below.
3.2 Opening the PYR-2021
The PYR-2021 housing can be opened by unscrewing a Philips-
head screw (1) and pushing the safety latch (2) to “unlock”.
Removing the Lens
You will need to remove the lens only to add or remove the
Curtain Adapter.
1) Turn the top part of the PYR-2021 over and locate the
“holder pin” (A) for the lens.
2) Use a screwdriver to gently pop it out by putting the edge
under the “holder pin” and pushing down on the handle.
3) Turn the housing over and pop off the lens.
3.3 Wiring the PYR-2021PIR
The PYR-2021 is wired using a terminal block with binding posts
that are opened using a thin Philips head screwdriver or a flat
head screwdriver and located on the front of the PCB (see
PCB image below in the jumper section)
The terminal block consists of two Normally closed alarm relay
binding posts, followed by two Tamper binding posts and
closed off with a + and – 12VDC binding posts
Connect all the Signaling Cables first.
Wire the power last.
NOTE! When laying wires to the control panel ensure
that they are not in parallel with high voltage mains or
other high potential wiring as this may cause false
alarms.
3.4 Mounting the PYR-2021PIR
Select an area for mounting the PYR-2021, and ensure the
location is flat, either a wall or a 90-degree corner, for perfect
mounting of the unit. Ensure the PIR has a “view” of the area
under surveillance and is free from obstructions.
The PYR-2021 has a detection range of 14.7m (48 ft.) when
placed at a height of between 1.8m and 2.3m.
3.5 Wall Mounting
The PIR housing has “dimple” points for insertion of screws, for
either wall-mounting or corner mounting (refer to detailed
pictures below). Remove the PC board prior to mounting.
NOTE: Be careful not to touch the pyro-electric unit on
the board. Touching the unit will gravely affect its ability
of the unit to work properly.

4Adding the Curtain Adapter
Use the Curtain Adapter when the need for detecting
movement in narrow places (corridors) or across surfaces
(window).
1) Place the Curtain Adapter onto the lens area on the front
of the housing. Be sure to place the guide pins into the
two holes at the lower part of the lens area.
2) Replace the Lens
3) Turn the whole assembly over and replace the “holding
pin” that holds the Spherical lens in place. Be sure to
place the “holding pin” between the lens tab and the
housing, with the flat side toward the lens tab.
5Jumpers and Back Tamper Setting
The PYR-2021 has 2 internal jumpers that can be connected to enable various features, allowing the unit to be versatile for any
usage situation.
5.1 Back Tamper
The PYR-2021 has both front and back tamper detection.
Front tamper detection is on by default it is activated when the
panel is opened cannot be changed. The back tamper
detection is activated when the detector is pulled off the wall
and is disabled by default, to enable the back tamper
detection cut the back tamper jumper (JP2).
5.2 Detection Sensitivity Jumper
In harsh environment conditions the sensor may detect false
alarms, in order to prevent these false alarms; two sensitivity
modes were designated, “Low” for regular usage and “High”
for high sensitivity when there is little chance for false alarms.
The JS2 Jumper changes the detection sensitivity between the
two settings, Low or High.
Low Sensitivity (normal), with jumper
High Sensitivity, no jumper
5.3 LED Enable / Disable Jumper
In the event that you wish to disable the LED, you can do so
using the JP1 jumper.
When the jumper is closed (default), the LED is enabled.
When the jumper is open, the LED is disabled.
LED Disabled, no jumper
LED Enabled, with jumper
6Testing the Detector
To test the detection ability of the PYR-2021 at a certain
location, it is necessary to perform a walk tests to ensure
coverage.
After connecting the detector to the power and adjusting
for the required sensitivity, insert LED jumper (JP1). Close the
front cover and go to the farthest distance from the
detector. Start to walk parallel to the detector. See that the
red LED goes on and off. Do the same in anther location.
After a successful walk test open the front cover again and
remove JP1 jumper. Close again with the screw.
It is recommended performing a walk test on a weekly
basis
