1. INSTRUMENT CARE
Do not attempt to remove the mesh cover from the microphone as this will
cause damage and affect the accuracy of the instrument.
Protect the instrument from impact. Do not drop it or subject it to rough handling.
Transport it in the supplied carrying case.
Protect the instrument from water, dust, extreme temperatures, high humidity
and direct sunlight during storage and use.
Protect the instrument from air with high salt or sulphur content, gases and
stored chemicals, as this may damage the delicate microphone and sensitive
electronics.
Always turn the instrument off after use. Remove the batteries from the
instrument if it is not to be used for a long time. Do not leave exhausted
batteries in the instrument, as they may leak and cause damage.
Clean the instrument only by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth or, when necessary,
with a cloth lightly moistened with water. Do not use any solvents, alcohol or
cleaning agents.

2. FEATURES
The Sound Level Meter complies with the requirements of IEC 61672-1: 2013
standard for a Class 2 instrument.
The instrument contains several features which permit sound level
measurements under a variety of conditions.

4. CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS
1. Microphone: Electret Condenser microphone
2. Display: The LCD shows the sound level as a numeric value and a bar graph.
The display also shows the operation mode of the instrument, the
selected measurement parameters and warning indications.

Power key: Press key to turn on the meter.
Press key for 3 seconds to turn off the meter.

4. key:
TIME key: Press this key to switch the minute:second (m:s), day-hour (d-h)
and Year÷Month (Y÷M) display.
LOG key: Press this key for 3 seconds to enter or exit the auto datalogging
mode.
 ► key : In the setting mode, press this key to move cursor to the desired position.
5. key: Sets the time weighting to FAST (F), SLOW (S) or Impulse (I).
FAST: Uses a 125ms time-constant. This setting is used in most situations.
SLOW: Uses a 1s time constant, which smoothes out fluctuating levels.
Impulse: Uses a 35ms time constant. Which was traditionallyused to displayan
impulsive type noise, allowing the maximum levels to be more easily
seen on a changing display.
6. key: Sets the frequency weighting to A,C or Z.
7. key:
LEVEL key: Level range key: Select the level range for the measurement.
The following 3 settings are available: 30 to 90dB, 45 to 110dB,
65 to 130dB.
▲key: In the setting mode, press this key to change the parameter.
8. key:
MAX key: Used for reading the Maximum (MaxL blinking display), Minimum
(MinL blinking display) and Current (MaxL and MinL are blinking
display) time-weighted sound level encountered during a
measurement and it’s occurred date and time.
MAX measurement:
a. Press MAX key to enter the maximum recording mode, the “MaxL” mark
is blinking displayed.
b. Press ▲key to circulate the display of the Maximum (MaxL), Minimum
(MinL) and Current (MaxL MinL) reading and its occurred date and time.
Press TIME key to switch display the date and time m:s, d-h and Y÷M.
c. Press MAX again to restart the maximum recording mode.
d. Press MAX key for 3 seconds to exit this mode.

PEAK key: The maximum level in dB reached by the sound pressure at any
instant during a measurement period. It is the true peak level of the
pressure wave, which should not be confused with the highest
sound pressure level, termed MaxL.
Sets the Peak frequency weighting and measurement:
a. Press and hold down PEAK key then Press key to turn on the meter,
until the “ ” mark is displayed.
b. Press key to sets the desired peak frequencyweighting A, C or Z.
c. Press ↵key to exit and the “ ” mark is displayed.
d. Press PEAK key again to restart the peak measurement.
PEAK and Maximum recording measurement:
a. In the peak measurement mode, press MAX key to enter the maximum
recording mode.
b. Press ▲key to circulate the display of the Maximum (MaxL blinking),
Minimum (MinL blinking), Current (MaxL and MinL blinking) and Peak
(dBPK blinking) reading and its occurred date and time. Press TIME key
to switch display the occurred date and time m:s, d-h and Y÷M.
c. Press MAX again to restart the peak and maximum recording mode.
d. Press MAX key for 3 seconds to exit this mode.
↵key: In the setting mode, press this key to store the setting data and exit.
9. CAL potentiometer: Calibration potentiometer for level adjustment.

: No-cycle timer datalogging mode indication.
 : Auto-cycle timer datalogging mode indication.
: No-cycle timer datalogging stop indication.
A: Datalogging mode indication.
M: Disappeared or appeared one time store one sets data into the memory.
FULL: Data records full indication.
÷ Y÷M: Year÷Month indication.
-d-h: Day-Hour indication.
: m:s: Minute:second indication.
: Battery capacity indication.
: Sound level range indication.
: Bar graph shows the current sound level (2dB resolution) indication.
UNDER: Under - range indication.
OVER: Over - range indication.

MinL: Minimum time-weighted sound level reading indication. (blink displayed)
dB: Sound level reading (0.1dB resolution) indication.

6. PREPARATION FOR USE
1. Battery Installation
When the low battery indication symbol “ ” blink appears on the display,
there is insufficient power to make accurate measurements and the 9V battery
must be replaced.
Turn the meter off.
Remove the meter’s battery cover.
Replace the battery.
Affix the battery cover.
2. Windscreen
When making measurements outdoors in strong winds or when measuring air
conditioning equipment or similar, wind noise and strong air movements at the
microphone can cause measurement errors. Such effect can be reduced by
using the windscreen.
3. Tripod Mounting
For long-term measurements, the instrument may be mounted on a standard
camera tripod using the integral ¼” x 20 UNC mounting thread.

7. CALIBRATION PROCEDURE
Most national standards recommend that you calibrate your sound level meter
before each set of measurements and check the calibration after each set.
The procedure to check/adjust the displayed sound level in response to sound
calibrator:
1. Turn off the sound calibrator.
2. Press the key to turn on the meter.
3. Use the key to select the 65 to 130dB
reference sound level range.
4. Use the key to select “A” frequency
weighting.
5. Use the key to select “FAST” time
weighting.
6. Insert the microphone very carefully and slowly all
the way into the sound calibrator coupling orifice.
7. Switch on the 1000Hz sound calibrator in its
nominal 114dB level setting.
8. Adjust the CAL potentiometer of the instrument,
until the display reading for diffuse field is the same
as the certified pressure level of the calibrator, or is
0.1 dB higher than this pressure level for free-field.
This applies to calibrators.
9. Set the power switch of the sound calibrator to OFF.
10. Remove the microphone very carefully and slowly from the coupler.

8. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
8-1 Setting the Real-Time
The meter internal clock is used in the display and for time-stamping
recorded measurements.
1. Press and hold down TIME key then press keyto turn on the meter, until
the “ ” mark is displayed.
2. Press ↵key to enter the real-time setting mode, the “ ÷ Y÷M” date is
displayed.
3. Using ►key to position the cursor on the date or time element to adjust.
4. Using ▲key to change the setting the date or time element value.
5. Press ↵key to complete the action and exit this mode.
8-2 Taking Sound Level Measurement
1. Press the key to turn on the meter. The initial state depends on the
condition the instrument was in before it was last turned off.
2. Pressthe keyto selectthedesired frequencyweighting.For normal
soundlevelmeasurements,select the“A”setting.
3. Press the key to select the desired time weighting (dynamic
characteristics). Normally, the “FAST” setting should be used.
4. When performing measurement according to IEC or other standards, the
frequency weighting and time weighting setting required by the standard
should be selected.
5. Press the key to select desiredlevelrange. Choose a setting in which the
bar graph indication registers approximately the middle of the range. If the
“OVER” indicator appear during measurement, the upper limit of the selected
range has been exceeded. Increase the range setting until the symbol remains
off during measurement. Similarly, if the “UNDER” indicator appears, reduce
the range setting until the symbol remains off during measurement. Both
indicators are non-latching and willclear when the correct range is selected.
6. The numeric level indication shows the currentlymeasured sound level. The
reading is updated two times per second.
7. Press the MAX key to record the maximum time-weighted sound level or
peak sound level encountered during a measurement period. Refer to MAX
key or PEAK key operation.

8-3 Auto Datalogging
Only micro SD CARD 4GB can be use.
1. To clear the auto memorized data
Press and hold down TIME key then press key to turn on the meter,
until the “ ” mark is displayed.
Press ▲key 4 times to select this mode, the “ ” mark is displayed.

key to enter this mode, then press ▲key to select “ ” or “ ”.
If select “ ”, press ↵key to perform clear the auto memorized data,
the “ ” mark is displayed, when the “ ”mark has disappeared, the
clear function is finished. If there is no SD CARD in the meter, the “ ”
mark is displayed for 2 seconds.
2. Setting the interval time
Press and hold down TIME key then press key for 3 seconds to turn
on the meter, until the “ ” mark is displayed.
Press ▲key one time to select this mode, the “ ” mark is displayed.
Press ↵key to enter this mode, the “ : m:s” mark is displayed.
Using ►key to position the cursor on the minute or second element to
adjust.
Using ▲key to setting the desired interval time from 1 second to 59
minutes 59 seconds.
Press ↵key to complete the action.
3. To set auto datalogging
Press LOG key for 3 seconds to enter this mode, the “ ” mark is
displayed then to record the measuring data automatically the “A” mark
is displayed. When the “M” mark appears once, one set of reading is
stored to the memory.
 If thereis no SD CARD in the meter, the “ ”mark is displayed for 2 seconds.
If memory is full, the “ ” mark is displayed. The maximum capacity is
4GB or 99 blocks.
Press LOG key for 3 seconds to exit.
4. To download the recorded data to PC connect the USB cable to PC and the
meter.

8-4 Auto-Cycle Timer Datalogging
The auto cycle timer means the start-time and the record time is captured
on each occasion.
1. Perform setting the Real-Time. (Refer to 8-1)
2. Press and hold down TIME key then press key to turn on the meter, until
the “ ” mark is displayed.
3. Press ▲key 3 times to select this mode, the “ ” mark is displayed.
4. Press ↵key to enter the ON/OFF selecting mode, the “ ” mark is
displayed.
5. Press ▲key to select “ ” or “ ”.
6. If select “ ” then press ↵key to exit.
7. If select “ ” then press ↵key to enter the Start-Time setting mode, the
“► - d-h” mark is displayed.
8. Using ►key to position the cursor on the time element to adjust.
Using ▲key to setting the time element value.
9. Press ↵key to enter the Record-Time setting mode, the “►- d-h”
mark is displayed.
10. Repeat step 8 above to complete the record-time setting.
11. Press ↵key to enter the Interval-Time setting mode, the “ : m:s”
mark is displayed.
12. Using ►key to position the cursor on the minute or second element to adjust.
13. Using ▲key to setting the desired interval time from 1 second to 59
minutes 59 seconds.
14. Press ↵key to complete the action and to enter the auto-cycle timer
datalogging mode, the “  ” mark is a flashing display.
15. When the Start-Time is reached, the “  ” mark stops flashing and the “A”
mark is displayed. When the “M” mark appears once it means one set of
data has been memorized.
16. If no SD CARD is in the meter, the “ ” mark is displayed for 2 seconds.
17. If memory is full, the “ ” mark is displayed. The maximum capacity is
4GB or 99 blocks.
18. Press LOG key for 3 seconds to exit.

8-5 No-Cycle Timer Datalogging
The no-cycle timer means the Start-Time and the Stop-Time is valid only
one time.
1. Perform setting the Real-Time. (Refer to 8-1)
2. Press and hold down TIME key then press keyto turn on the meter, until
the “ ” mark is displayed.
3. Press ▲key 2 times to select this mode, the “ ” mark is displayed.
4. Press ↵key to enter the Start-Time setting mode, the “►÷ Y÷M”
mark is displayed.
5. Using ►key to position the cursor on the date or time element to adjust.
Using ▲key to change the setting the date or time element value.
6. Press ↵key to enter the Stop-Time setting mode, the “÷ Y÷M” mark
is displayed.
7. Repeat step 5 to complete the Stop-Time setting.
8. Press ↵key to enter the Interval-Time setting mode, the “ : m:s”
mark is displayed.
9. Using ►key to position the cursor on the minute or second element to
adjust.
10. Using ▲key to setting the desired interval time from 1 second to 59
minutes 59 seconds.
11. Press ↵key to complete the action and to enter the no-cycle timer
datalogging mode, the “►” mark is a flashing display.
12. When the Start-Time is reached, the “►” mark stops flashing and the “A”
mark is displayed. When the “M” mark appears once it means one set of
data has been memorized.
13. If no SD CARD is in the meter, the “ ” mark is displayed for 2 seconds.
14. When the Stop-Time is reached, the “A” mark will disappear and the “”
mark is displayed.
15. If memory is full, the “ ” mark is displayed. The maximum capacity is
4GB or 99 blocks.
16. Press LOG key for 3 seconds to exit.

9. OUTPUT CONNECTORS
AC Output:
An AC signal corresponding to the frequency-weighted signal is available at this
connector.
Output voltage: 1Vrms±50mVrms (scale upper limit)
Output impedance: approx. 5kΩ
Load impedance:≧1MΩ
The output voltage when the meter is in calibration mode
(-16dB from scale upper limit, 1000Hz sine wave) is 158.5mVrms.
DC Output:
A level-converted DC signal generated by RMS detection and logarithmic
compression is available at this connector. The signal reflects the frequency
and time weighting settings of the instrument.
Output voltage: 10mV±0.1mV/dB
Output impedance: approx. 5kΩ
Load impedance:≧1MΩ
The output voltage when the meter is reading 114dB is nominally 1.14V DC.
