1. INSTRUMENT CARE
Do not attempt to remove the mesh cover from the microphone as this will
cause damage and affect the accuracy of the instrument.
Protect the instrument from impact. Do not drop it or subject it to rough handling.
Transport it in the supplied carrying case.
Protect the instrument from water, dust, extreme temperatures, high humidity
and direct sunlight during storage and use.
Protect the instrument from air with high salt or sulphur content, gases and
stored chemicals, as this may damage the delicate microphone and sensitive
electronics.
Always turn the instrument off after use. Remove the batteries from the
instrument if it is not to be used for a long time. Do not leave exhausted
batteries in the instrument, as they may leak and cause damage.
Clean the instrument only bywiping it with a soft, dry cloth or, when necessary,
with a cloth lightly moistened with water. Do not use any solvents, alcohol or
cleaning agents.

2. FEATURES
The Sound Level Meter complies with the requirements of IEC 61672-1: 2013
standard for a Class 2 instrument.
The instrument contains several features which permit sound level
measurements under a variety of conditions.

Maximum, Minimum and Peak hold sound pressure level
Both AC and DC signal outputs are available from a single standard 3.5mm
coaxial socket suitable for use with a frequencyanalyzer, level recorder, FFT
analyzer, graphic recorder, etc.

4. CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS
1. Microphone: Electret Condenser microphone
2. Display: The LCD shows the sound level as a numeric value and a bar graph.
The display also shows the operation mode of the instrument, the
selected measurement parameters and warning indications.

key: Press to turn the instrument on and off.
4. key: Level range key: Select the level range for the measurement.
The following 3 settings are available: 30 to 90dB, 45 to 110dB, 65 to
130dB.
5. key: Used for reading the maximum (MaxL), Minimum (MinL) and Current
(SPL blinking display) time-weighted sound level encountered during
a measurement.

 Press key to enter maximum recording mode, the “ MaxL ” mark will appear.
Press key to circulate the display of the maximum (MaxL), Minimum
(MinL) and Current (SPL blinking display) reading.
Press key for 3 seconds to restart the maximum recording mode.
Press key for 6 seconds to exit this mode.
6. key: Sets the frequency weighting to A,C or Z.
7. key: Sets the time weighting to FAST (F), SLOW (S) or Impulse (I).
FAST: Uses a 125ms time-constant. This setting is used in most situations.
SLOW: Uses a 1s time constant, which smoothes out fluctuating levels.
Impulse: Uses a 35ms time constant. Which was traditionallyused to display an
impulsive type noise, allowing the maximum levels to be more easily
seen on a changing display.
8. key: The maximum level in dB reached by the sound pressure at any
instant during a measurement period. It is the true peak level of the
pressure wave, which should not be confused with the highest sound
pressure level, termed MaxL.
Sets the Peak frequency weighting:
a. Press and hold down key then Press key to turn on the meter, until
the “MaxP” mark is displayed.
b. Press key to sets the desired peak frequency weighting A, C or Z.
c. Press key again to exit.
PEAK measurement:
a. Press keyto enter peak recording mode, the “MaxP” mark is displayed.
b. Press key again to restart the peak recording mode.
c. Press key for 3 seconds to exit this mode.
9. CAL potentiometer: Calibration potentiometer for level adjustment.
10. DC/AC output socket:
DC output signal corresponding to sound level.
AC output signal with frequency weighting.

5. DISPLAY DESCRIPTION
1. dB: Sound level range indication (3 ranges:30 – 90dB, 45 – 110dB,
65 – 130dB)
2. UNDER: Under - range indication.
3. OVER: Over - range indication.
4. MaxL: Maximum time-weighted sound level reading indication.
5. MinL: Minimum time-weighted sound level reading indication.
6. SPL: Time-weighted sound level reading indication “Sound Pressure Level”.
7. : Battery capacity indication. When the “ ” mark is blinking, the 9V
battery must be replaced.
8. Bar graph shows the current sound level (2dB resolution).
9. dB: Sound level until.
10. FSI: F - “Fast” time weight indication.
S - “Slow” time weight indication.
I - “Impulse” time weight indication.
11. CAZ: C - “C” Frequency weight indication.
A - “A” Frequency weight indication.
Z - “Z” Frequency weight indication.
12. Sound level reading (0.1dB resolution): 30.0 – 130.0dB.
13. CAZ: Peak frequency weighting C, A or Z indication.
14. PEAK sound level reading.
