2. INTENDED USAGE
The PODOLOG ECO and PODOLOG ONE foot care systems operate rotating tools such as
cutters and grinders for the removal of hard skin, calluses, nails, etc. from feet and hands. The
device is intended for use in the following fields of activity: Foot care, nail design, cosmetic
treatments, wellness.
Any other usage is undertaken at your own risk and could be dangerous. Improper usage of
the device can lead to personal and material damage.
The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by improper or incorrect
usage of the equipment.
All rights under the terms of the guarantee are rendered null and void by any improper usage
or if the device is opened!
No changes or modifications may be made to the device or its accessories. Should a
repair be required, the necessary safety checks must be repeated.
The foot care systemsmust not be used for podiatry/medical purposes.
2.1 OPERATOR REQUIREMENTS
The foot care system should only be used by pedicurists, cosmeticians, nail designers and
other non-medical professionals, who are aware of how the system operates and have received
the necessary training.
2.2 OPERATOR AND CLIENT SAFETY
— Only use high-quality rotary tools in accordance with DIN EN ISO1797-1 which have
a standardised shaft diameter of 2.35 mm, cylindrical, Type 2.
— Please take note of their instructions for use and the maximum speeds in accordance
with the manufacturer’s specifications for rotary tools as well as information concern-
ing cleaning, disinfecting and sterilisation. You will find additional information in the
current catalogue from HELLMUT RUCK GmbH, in the section "Rotary instruments".
— Operators should not come into contact with the foot controller connection and the
client at the same time.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

12 |
Operating Instructions | Rev. 05 | Print | REF 8013302
— Operators must wear eye, mouth and nose protectors and gloves while using the
equipment.
— During treatment, the operator must ensure that hair or loose items such as towels,
tamponades, etc. cannot get into the area of the rotary tools.
— The tools must be disinfected, cleaned and if necessary sterilised after each usage
or change of client, in order to avoid the possible transfer of germs from one client to
another.
You will find suitable products in our catalogue under the section "Hygiene".
— All surfaces of the handpiece and equipment that may have become contaminated
must be disinfected and cleaned. Under no circumstances should any fluids get into
the handpiece as this may cause damage to the device.
3. OPERATOR AND CLIENT SAFETY
The likelihood of any person-related risk can be restricted to a very few points by the profes-
sional and proper usage of the PODOLOG ECO / ONE.
3.1 OPERATOR REQUIREMENTS
The PODOLOG ECO / ONE foot care system should only be used by podiatrists, pedicurists,
cosmeticians, nail designers, doctors or other related professionals, who are aware of how the
system operates and have received the necessary training.
3.2 OPERATOR AND CLIENT SAFETY
To protect users, clients and third parties, the following must be observed:
— Only high-quality rotary tools in accordance with DIN EN ISO 1797-1, which have a
standardised shaft diameter of 2.35mm, cylindrical, Type 2, may be used. For the
rotary tools used, the manufacturer’s instructions relating to maximum speed and
preparation (cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation) must be followed. You will find
additional information in the current catalogue from HELLMUT RUCK GmbH, in the
section "Rotary instruments".
— Operating staff must wear protective goggles and mouth and nose protection while
using the equipment. Long hair must be tied back or protected by a hairnet.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

|
Operating Instructions | Rev. 05 | Print | REF 8013302
— During the treatment, ensure that no objects that could become caught in the rotating parts
can enter the treatment area.
3.3 POTENTIAL RISKS FOR THE CLIENT
The extraction of potentially pathogenic dust significantly reduces the risks caused by transfer-
able germs (micro-organisms). Regular, complete and accurate anamnesis can help to identify
potential risks of infection.
The risk to clients through inhalation is reduced to a minimum and the treatment of clients with
low levels of immunity can be responsibly undertaken. Nevertheless, the practitioner should
still always wear mouth and nose protectors as well as safety gloves while carrying out the
treatment.
If any germ-intensive work has been carried out, disinfected and sterilised tools must
be used during the next work process, to treat any unaffected areas of skin or nail.
3.3.1 HAZARDS CAUSED BY REMOVED MATERIAL
The hazard level caused by removed particles (nail splinters or parts of the coarse surface) is
low because there is a sufficient distance from the treatment area.
The efficient suction technology of the PODOLOG ECO / ONE minimises the risk of inhaling
dust which may potentially contain pathogens. The risk of infection can be further reduced by
practising thorough antiseptic skin hygiene prior to the treatment.
3.3.2 ALLERGY RISK
Since the client does not generally come into contact with the surfaces of the PODOLOG ECO
/ ONE, the only potential cause of an allergic reaction is parts of the rotary tools. However, due
to the very short contact times (less than 30 minutes), this risk is minimal.
3.3.3 HAZARDS CAUSED BY MOVING PARTS
High speeds and pressure may cause an undesired level of heat to develop in the treatment
area. In the worst case scenario, the affected tissue may be damaged by the heat produced.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

14 |
Operating Instructions | Rev. 05 | Print | REF 8013302
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Sudden movements by the client or a lack of attention on the part of the user may result in un-
intentional penetration of the skin. However, if the equipment is used properly and the process
is constantly visually monitored, this risk is low.
Warning! Penetration of the skin must be avoided!
3.4 POTENTIAL RISKS FOR THE USER
The extraction of potentially pathogenic dust significantly reduces the risks caused by transfer-
able germs (micro-organisms).
Risks to the operator through inhalation are kept to a minimum.
For reasons of hygiene we recommend wearing face/mouth protection.
3.4.1 HAZARDS CAUSED BY REMOVED MATERIAL
Removed particles (nail splinters, parts of the treated surface) and dusts present a hazard due
to their proximity to the treatment area.
To minimise the risk, the user must wear goggles and mouth and nose protection during the
treatment.
3.4.2 ALLERGY RISK
It is possible, but extremely unlikely, that allergic reactions to the material of the handpiece may
occur. For hygiene reasons we would also recommend that disposable gloves be worn.
3.4.3 HAZARDS CAUSED BY MOVING PARTS
Hair, jewellery and clothing may get caught in rotating parts. To avoid injury, long hair should
be tied back or protected by a hairnet. In the interests of hygiene, jewellery should not be worn.
The user should wear clothes that cannot get caught in the tool.

tion. Please see also Chapter 2.2, Operator and Client Safety, page 12.
