design of your bug repeller.
INTENDED USE
The bug repeller is intended to be
used only by adults who have read
and understood the instructions and
warnings in this manual and can
be considered responsible for their
actions.
The product is intended only for
outdoor use in a well-ventilated area.
The product is designed to drive away
bugs from the area where the product
is used.
Do not use the product for any other
purpose.
GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS
WARNING
Read all safety warnings and all
instructions. Failure to follow the
warnings and instructions may result
in electric shock, fire, and/or serious
injury.

rules must be followed. For your

WARNING
The product is not intended to be
used by children or persons with
reduced physical, mental, or sensory
capabilities. Children should be
adequately supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the product.
TRAINING
■Never allow children or people
who are unfamiliar with these
instructions to use the product.
Local regulations may restrict the
age of the operator.
■Read the instructions carefully. Be
familiar with all controls and the
proper use of the product.
BATTERY TOOL USE AND CARE
■Recharge only with the charger
specified by the manufacturer. A
charger that is suitable for one type
of battery pack may create a risk of
fire when used with another battery
pack.
■Use power tools only with
specifically designated battery
packs. The use of any other battery
packs may create a risk of injury
and fire.
■When the battery pack is not in
use, keep it away from other metal
objects, like paper clips, coins,
keys, nails, screws, or other small
metal objects that can make a
connection from one terminal
to another. Shorting the battery
terminals together may cause
burns or a fire.

■Under abusive conditions,
liquid may be ejected from the
battery. Avoid contact. If contact
accidentally occurs, flush with
water. If liquid contacts eyes,
additionally seek medical help.
Liquid ejected from the battery may
cause irritation or burns.
BUG REPELLER SAFETY
WARNINGS
■Never allow children, persons
with reduced physical, sensory,
or mental capabilities or lack of
experience and knowledge, or
people who are unfamiliar with
these instructions to use the
product.
■Children should be supervised to
ensure that they do not play with
the product.
■The product is to be used only
with the recommended vaporising
medium. The use of other
substances may give rise to toxic
fumes or pose a fire risk.
■The product has hot surfaces to
vaporise the repellent mats. These
surfaces should not be touched
during use.
■The light source of the product is
not replaceable. When the light
source reaches its end of life, the
whole product must be replaced.
■Turn off the product, remove the
battery pack, and allow the product
to cool down:
●before servicing
●before clearing a blockage
●before checking, cleaning, and
working on the product
●before changing accessories
●whenever performing
maintenance
■Always ensure that ventilation
openings are kept clear of debris.
■Before use and after any impact,
check that there are no damaged parts
on the product. A defective switch or
any part that is damaged should be
properly repaired or replaced by an
authorised service centre.
■Never modify the product in any
way. This may increase the risk of
injury to yourself or others.
■Immediately turn off the product
and remove the battery pack in the
event of accident or breakdown.
Never operate the product again
until it has been fully checked by an
authorised service centre.

HOW THE PRODUCT WORKS
The RYOBI Insect Repeller gives
protection from bites by the most
common types of mosquitoes, including
tiger mosquitoes, in an outdoor area of
up to 20 m2. Warmed by the heat of
the heating element, the mat slowly
releases an active ingredient that
protects against mosquitoes.

The product is ideal for patios, terraces,
gardens, balconies, and camping
and caravanning sites, and prevents
mosquitoes from spoiling outdoor
dinners and parties, barbecues,
picnics, etc. One mat gives minimum
4 hours continuous protection over an
area about 20 m2.
CONTENTS

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
The insect repeller is for outdoor use
only.
1. Remove the mat from its foil
wrapper.
2. Place the insect repeller on a
secure level surface, and insert the
mat into the slot at the top of the
insect repeller.
3. Press the power button to turn
on the heating element. When
replacing a mat, make sure that the
insect repeller is cool.
ACTIVE INGREDIENT
The active ingredient in the product is
d-Allethrin (60.5% w/w with 100% pure
d-Allethrin, 57.3% w/w d-Allethrin of
94.8% technical product).
The 2326 mg cellulose mat is
impregnated with a liquid insecticide
formulation containing 500 mg of
d-Allethrin (EG-Nr. 209-542-4), which
is vaporised in the lantern to provide
outdoor protection from mosquitoes for
up to 4 hours.

SYMPTOMS FOR INTOXICATION
■Inhalation: Vapour may affect the
central nervous system and cause
headache, discomfort, vomiting, or
intoxication. Vapours may cause
drowsiness and dizziness.
■Ingestion: Harmful if swallowed.
■Eye contact: Vapour in the eyes
may cause irritation and smarting.
■Health warnings: Synthetic
pyrethroids can produce
paresthesias. Typically, symptoms
begin several hours after cutaneous
exposure, peaks within 12 hours,
and resolves within about 24 hours.
Prolonged or repeated exposure
may cause nausea, vomiting,
diarrhoea, headache, tremors, and
convulsions.
FIRST AID MEASURES
■Inhalation: Remove the victim
immediately from the source of
exposure and to fresh air. Seek
medical help if any discomfort
continues.
■Skin contact: Wash the skin
immediately with soap and water.
Remove contaminated clothing.

WARNING
To reduce the risk of fire, personal
injury, and product damage due to
a short circuit, never immerse your
tool, battery pack, or charger in fluid
or allow a fluid to flow inside them.
Corrosive or conductive fluids,
such as seawater, certain industrial
chemicals, and bleach or bleach-
containing products, etc., can cause
a short circuit.

TRANSPORTATION AND
STORAGE
■Turn off the product and allow
it to cool down before storing
or transporting. Do not store
or transport the product with
the batteries fitted. Remove
the batteries, and secure them
separately.
■Clean all foreign material from the
product. Store the product in a cool,
dry, and well-ventilated place that
is inaccessible to children. Do not
store the product outdoors.
■Store unused repellent mats in a
tightly closed container. Keep the
repellent mats in a cool, dry place
that is inaccessible to children.
Keep the mats away also from any
sources of ignition or heat.
TRANSPORTING LITHIUM
BATTERIES
Transport the battery pack in
accordance with local and national
provisions and regulations. Follow all
special requirements on packaging and
labelling when transporting batteries by
a third party.
Ensure that no batteries can come
in contact with other batteries or
conductive materials while in transport
by protecting exposed connectors with
insulating, non-conductive caps or
tape. Do not transport batteries that
are cracked or leaking. Check with the
forwarding company for further advice.
MAINTENANCE
WARNING
Use only original manufacturer’s
replacement parts, accessories, and
attachments. Failure to do so can
cause possible injury, can contribute
to poor performance, and may void
your warranty.
WARNING
Servicing requires extreme care
and knowledge and should be
performed only by a qualified
service technician. Have the product
serviced by an authorised service
centre only. When servicing, use
only original replacement parts.

RISK REDUCTION
It has been known that risk may arise
when the product is in use. There are
measures that can be taken by the
operator to reduce hazards:
■inhalation
–If inhaled, move to an area
where there is fresh air.
■skin irritation
–If skin irritation occurs, remove
clothing and shoes immediately
and wash the skin with soap
and water.
■eye contact
–In case of contact with eyes,
rinse with water immediately.
Check and remove contact
lenses if needed. Avoid rubbing
the eyes with the hands.
