• This manual explains howto install an indoorunit
with a split systemwith two SAMSUNG units. The use
of othertypes of unitswith different control systems
maydamage the units and invalidate thewarranty.
The manufacturershall not be responsible for
damages arising from the use of non compliant units.
• The manufacturershall not be responsible for
damage originating from unauthorized changes or
the improperconnection of electric and requirements
set forth in the “Operating limits” table, included
in the manual, shall immediatelyinvalidate the
warranty.
• The airconditionershould be used onlyforthe
applications forwhich it has been designed: the
indoorunit is not suitable to be installed in areas
used forlaundry.
• Do not use the units if damaged. If problems occur,
switchthe unit off and disconnect it from the power
supply.
• In orderto prevent electric shocks, fires orinjuries,
always stop the unit, disablethe protection switch
and contact SAMSUNG’s technical support if the unit
produces smoke, ifthe powercable is hot ordamaged
orif the unit isverynoisy.
• Always rememberto inspect the unit, electric
connections, refrigerant tubes and protections
regularly. These operations should be performed by
qualified personnel only.
• The unit contains moving parts,which should always
be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not attempt to repair, move, alterorreinstall the
unit. If performed byunauthorized personnel, these
operations maycause electric shocks orfires.
• Do not place containerswith liquids orotherobjects
on the unit.
• All the materials usedforthe manufacture and
packaging of the airconditionerare recyclable.
• The packing material and exhaust batteries of the
remote controller(optional) must be disposed of in
accordancewith current laws.
• The airconditionercontains a refrigerantthat has
to be disposed of as specialwaste. Atthe end of its
life cycle,the airconditionermust be disposed of in
authorized centres orreturned to the retailerso that
it can be disposed of correctlyand safely.
• This appliance is not intended foruse by persons
(including children)with reduced physical, sensory
ormental capabilities, orlack of experience and
knowledge, unless theyhave been given supervision
orinstruction concerning use of the appliance bya
person responsible fortheirsafety. Children should
be supervised to ensure that theydo not playwith
the appliance.
• Do not use means to accelerate the defrost operation
orto clean, otherthan those recommended by
Samsung.

WARNING
IMPORTANT:When installing the unit, always
rememberto connectfirst the refrigeranttubes, then
the electrical lines.
• Upon receipt, inspectthe producttoverifythat
it has not been damaged during transport. If the
product appears damaged, DO NOTINSTALLit and
immediatelyreport the damage to the carrieror
retailer(if the installerorthe authorized technician
has collectedthe material from the retailer.)
• Aftercompletingthe installation, always carryout a
functional test and provide the instructions on howto
operatethe airconditionerto the user.
• Do not use the airconditionerin environmentswith
hazardous substances orclose to equipment that
release free flames to avoid the occurrence of fires,
explosions orinjuries.
• Ourunits should be installed in compliancewith the
spaces shown in the installation manual,to ensure
accessibilityfrom both sides and allowrepairs or
maintenance operations to be carried out. The
unit’s components should be accessible and easy
to disassemblewithout endangering people and
objects.
• Forthis reason,when provisions ofthe installation
manual are not compliedwith, the cost required to
access and repairthe units (in SAFETY CONDITIONS,
as set out in prevailing regulations)with harnesses,
ladders, scaffolding oranyotherelevation systemwill
NOTbe considered part of thewarrantyandwill be
chargedto the end customer.
• While in installation orrelocation of the product, do
not mix the refrigerantwith othergases including air
orunspecified refrigerant. Failure to do so maycause
pressure increase to result in rupture orinjury.
• Do not cut orburn the refrigerant containeror
pipings.
• Use clean parts such as manifold gauge,vacuum
pump, and charging hose forthe refrigerant.
• Installation must be carried out byqualified
personnel forhandlingthe refrigerant.Additionally,
reference the regulations and laws.
• Be careful notto let foreign substances (lubricating
oil, refrigerant otherthan R32, water, etc.) enterthe
pipings.
• When mechanicalventilation is required,ventilation
openings shall be kept clearof obstruction.
• Fordisposal of the product,followthe local laws and
regulations.
• Do notwork in a confined place.
• Thework area shall be blocked.
• The refrigerant pipings shall be installed in the
positionwhere there are no substances that may
result in corrosion.
• The following checks shall be performed for
installation:
ࣚTheventilation devices and outlets are operating
normallyand are not obstructed.
ࣚMarkings and signs on the equipment shall be
visible and legible.
• Upon leakage ofthe refrigerant,ventilate the room.
When the leaked refrigerant is exposedto flame, it
maycause generation of toxic gases.
• Make sure that thework area is safe fromflammable
substances.
• To purge airin the refrigerant, be sure to use a
vacuum pump.
• Note thatthe refrigerant has no odour.
• The units are not explosion proof so theymust be
installedwith no risk of explosion.
• This product containsfluorinated gases that
contributeto global greenhouse effect.Accordingly,
do notvent gases into the atmosphere.

• Forinstallationwith handling the refrigerant(R-32),
use dedicatedtools and piping materials.
• Servicing and installation shall be performed as
recommended bythe manufacturer. In case other
skilled persons are joined forservicing, it shall be
carried out undersupervision of the personwho is
competent in handling flammable refrigerants.
• Forservicing the units containingflammable
refrigerants, safetychecks are required to minimise
the risk of ignition.
• Servicing shall be performed following the controlled
procedure to minimize the risk offlammable
refrigerant orgases.
• Do not installwhere there is a risk of combustible gas
leakage.
• Do not place heat sources.
• Be cautious not to generate a spark as follows:
ࣚDo not removethe fuseswith poweron.
ࣚDo not disconnectthe powerplug from thewall
outletwith poweron.
ࣚIt is recommended to locate the outlet in a high
position. Place the cords so that theyare not
tangled.
• If the indoorunit is not R-32 compatible, an error
signal appears and the unitwill not operate.
• Afterinstallation, check forleakage. Toxic gas may
be generated and if it comes into contactwith an
ignition source such as fan heater, stove, and cooker.

Ignitionsourcesfree
• Make sure to storethe units in a placewithout
continuouslyoperating ignition sources (forexample,
open flames, an operating gas appliance oran
operating electric heater).
• The service engineers shall not use anyignition
sourceswith the risk of fire orexplosion.
• Potential ignition sources shall be kept away from
thework areawhere theflammable refrigerant can
possiblybe releasedto the surrounding.
• Thework area should be checkedto ensurethat
there are no flammable hazards orignition risks. The
“No Smoking” sign shall be attached.
• Underno circumstances shall potential sources of
ignition be usedwhile in detection of leakage.
• Make sure that the seals orsealing materials have
not degraded.
• Safe parts are the oneswith which theworkercan
work in a flammable atmosphere. Otherparts may
result in ignition dueto leakage.
• Replace components onlywith parts specified by
Samsung. Otherparts may result in the ignition of
refrigerant in the atmosphere from a leak.
Areaventilation
• Make sure that thework area is wellventilated
before performing a hotwork.
• Ventilation shall be made even duringthe work.
• Theventilation should safely disperse any
released gases and preferablyexpel them into the
atmosphere.

Leakagedetectionmethods
• The leakage detectorshall be calibrated in a
refrigerant-free area.
• Make sure that the detectoris not a potential source
of ignition.
• The leakage detectorshall be set to the LFL(lower
flammability limit).
• The use of detergents containing chlorine shall be
avoidedforcleaning becausethe chlorine mayreact
with the refrigerant and corrode the pipings.
• If leakage is suspected, naked flames shall be
removed.
• If a leakage isfoundwhile in brazing, the entire
refrigerant shall be recovered from the product or
isolated (e.g. using shut-offvalves). It shall not be
directlyreleased tothe environment. Oxygen free
nitrogen (OFN) shall be used forpurgingthe system
before and during the brazing process.
• Thework area shall be checkedwith an appropriate
refrigerant detectorbefore and duringwork.
• Ensurethat the leakage detectoris appropriate for
use with flammable refrigerants.
Labelling
• The parts shall be labelled to ensure thattheyhave
been decommissioned and emptied of refrigerant.
• The labels shall be dated.
• Make sure that the labels are affixed onthe system
to notifyit contains flammable refrigerant.
Recovery
• When removing refrigerant from the system for
servicing ordecommissioning, it is recommendedto
remove the entire refrigerant.
• When transferring refrigerant into cylinders, make
surethat onlythe refrigerant recoverycylinders are
used.
• All cylinders used forthe recovered refrigerant shall
be labelled.
• Cylinders shall be equippedwith pressure relief
valves and shut-offvalves in a properorder.
• The recoverysystem shall operate normally
according tothe specified instructions and shall be
suitable forrefrigerant recovery.
• In addition, the calibration scales shall operate
normally.
• Hoses shall be equippedwith leak-free disconnect
couplings.
• Before starting the recovery, check forthe status of
the recoverysystem and sealing state. Consultwith
the manufacturerif suspected.
• The recovered refrigerant shall be returned tothe
supplierin the correct recoverycylinderswith the
Waste TransferNote attached.
• Do not mix refrigerants in the recoveryunits or
cylinders.
• If compressors orcompressoroils are to be removed,
make sure that they have been evacuated to the
acceptable level to ensure that flammable refrigerant
does not remain inthe lubricant.
• The evacuation process shall be performed before
sending the compressorto the suppliers.
• Onlythe electrical heating to the compressorbodyis
allowed to accelerate the process.
• Oil shall be drained safely from the system.
• Neverinstall a motor-driven equipment to prevent
ignition.
• Emptyrecoverycylinders shall be evacuated and
cooled before recovery.

• Alwaysverifythat a suitable earthing connection is
available.
• Verifythat the voltage and frequencyof the power
supplycomplywith the specifications and that the
installed poweris sufficient to ensure the operation
of anyotherdomestic appliance connected tothe
same electric lines.
• Alwaysverifythat the cut-off and protection switches
are suitablydimensioned.
• Verifythat the airconditioneris connectedto the
powersupplyin accordancewith the instructions
provided in thewiring diagram included in the
manual.
• Alwaysverifythat electric connections (cable entry,
section of leads, protections…) are compliant with
the electric specifications andwith the instructions
provided in thewiring scheme. Alwaysverifythat all
connections complywith the standards applicable to
the installation of airconditioners.
• Devices disconnected from the powersupplyshould
be completely disconnected in the condition of
overvoltage category.
• Be sure not to perform powercable modification,
extensionwiring, and multiplewire connection.
ࣚIt maycause electric shock orfire dueto poor
connection, poorinsulation, orcurrent limit
override.
ࣚWhen extensionwiring is required due to power
line damage, referto "Step 5 Optional: Extending
the powercable" in the installation manual.
Step1 Choosingtheinstallation
location
Installationlocationrequirements
• The outdoorunit shall be installed in an open space
that is alwaysventilated.
• The local gas regulations shall be observed.
• Forinstallation inside a building (this applies
eitherto indoororoutdoorunits installed inside) a
minimum roomfloorarea of space conditioned is
mandatoryaccording to IEC 60335-2-40:2018 (see
the reference table into eitherthe indoororoutdoor
unit installation manual).
• To handle, purge, and dispose the refrigerant, or
break into the refrigerant circuit, theworkershould
have a certificate from an industry-accredited
authority.
• Do not install the indoorunit in the following areas:
ࣚArea filledwith minerals, splashed oil, orsteam.
Itwill deteriorate plastic parts, causing failure or
leakage.
ࣚArea that is close to heat sources.
ࣚArea that produces substances such as sulfuric
gas, chlorine gas, acid, and alkali. It may cause
corrosion ofthe pipings and brazed joints.
ࣚArea that can cause leakage of combustible gas
and suspension of carbon fibers,flammable dust,
orvolatile flammables.
ࣚAreawhere refrigerant leaks and settles.
ࣚAreawhere animals mayurinate on the product.
Ammonia maybe generated.
• Do not use the indoorunit forpreservation offood
items, plants, equipment, and artworks. This may
cause deterioration of theirquality.
• Do not install the indoorunit if it has anydrainage
problem.
• Do not place the outdoorunit on its side orupside
down. Failing to do so maycause the compressor
lubrication oil to run into the cooling circuit and lead
to a serious damage to the unit.
• Install the unit in a well-ventilated location away
from direct sunlight orstrongwinds.

• Install the unit in a location thatwould not obstruct

• Install the unit in a location thatwould not inconvenience
ordisturbyourneighbors, as theycould be affected by
the noise orthe airflowcoming fromthe unit.

cables can be easilyconnected tothe indoorunit.
• Install the unit on a flat, stable surfacethat can
withstand theweight of the unit. Otherwise, the unit
can generate noise andvibration during operation.
• Install the unit so that the airflow is directed towards
the open area.
• Maintain sufficient clearance aroundthe outdoor
unit, especiallyfrom a radio, computer, stereo system,
etc.

Control
• Install the unit at a heightwhere its base can be
firmlyfixed in place.
• Make sure that thewaterdripping from the drain
hose runs awaycorrectly and safely.
CAUTION
• You have just purchased a system airconditionerand
it has been installed byyourinstallation specialist.
• This device must be installed according tothe
national electrical rules.
• Ifyouroutdoorunit exceeds a netweight of 60 kg, do
not install it on a suspendedwall, but stand it on a
floor.
• When installing the outdoorunit at the seaside, make
surethat it is not directlyexposed to sea breeze. If
you cannotfind an adequate place free from direct
sea breeze, construct a protectionwall ora protective
fence.
ࣚInstall the outdoorunit in a place (such as near
buildings etc.)where it can be prevented from sea
breeze. Failure to do so maycause a damage to
the outdoorunit.

seaside, construct a protectionwall around to block
the sea breeze.
• Construct a protectionwall with a solid material
such as concrete to block the sea breeze. Make sure
that the height and thewidth of the wall are1.5
times largerthan the size of the outdoorunit.Also,
secure a space largerthan 700 mm between the
protectionwall and the outdoorunit forexhausted air
to ventilate.

CAUTION
• Depending on the condition of powersupply,

smoothly.

NOTE
• Attach EnergyLabel to the outdoorunit properly
when installing.
• Wire assembly cables are optional. If theyare not
supplied, use standard cables.

Step3 Fixingtheoutdoorunitinplace
Install the outdoorunit on a rigid and stable baseto
prevent disturbance from any noise caused byvibration.
When installing the unit at a height orin a location
exposed to strongwinds, fix the unit securely to a
support (i.e., awall ora ground).
1 Position the outdoorunit so that the airflowis
directed towards the outside, as indicated bythe
arrows on the top of the unit.
2 Attach the outdoorunit tothe appropriate support
using anchorbolts.
• The earthing wire forthe telephone line cannot be
used to earth the airconditioner.
3 If the outdoorunit is exposedto strongwinds, install
shield plates around the outdoorunit, so that the fan
can operate correctly.
NOTE
• Certainlyfix up its rubberleg in orderto prevent its
vibration and noise.

CAUTION

Step4 Connectingthepowercables,
communication cable,andcontrollers
You must connect thefollowing three electrical cables
to the outdoorunit:
• The main powercable between the auxiliarycircuit
breakerand the outdoorunit.
• The outdoor-to-indoorpowercable between the
outdoorunit and the indoorunit.
• The communication cable between the outdoorunit
and the indoorunit.
CAUTION
• During installation, makefirst the refrigerant
connections and then the electrical connections. If
the unit is uninstalled, first disconnectthe electrical
cables andthen the refrigerant connections.
• Connectthe airconditionerto the earthing system
before making the electrical connections.
NOTE
• Especially, if youroutdoorunit is the one designed for
Russian and European markets, consult the supply
authority, if necessary, to estimate and reduce the
supplysystem impedance before installation.
CAUTION
• Forthe product that uses the R-32 refrigerant, be
cautious not to generate a spark bykeeping the
following requirements:
ࣚDo not removethe fuseswith poweron.
ࣚDo not disconnectthe powerplug from thewall
outletwith poweron.
ࣚIt is recommended to locate the outlet in a high

• Connect the cables to the terminal board using the compressed ring terminal.
• Use rated cables only.
• Connectthe cableswith driverand wrench that can applythe rated torque to the screws.
• Make sure that appropriate tightening torque is applied forcable connection. If theterminal is loose, arc heat may
occurand cause fire and if the terminal is connectedtoo firmly, terminal mayget damaged.

CAUTION
• When connecting cables,you can connect the cables
to the electrical part orconnect them through the
holes belowdepending on the spot.
• Connectthe communication cable between the
indoorand outdoorunits through a conduitto protect
against external forces, and feed the conduit through
the wall togetherwith refrigerant piping.
• Remove all burrs atthe edge of the knock-out hole
and securethe cable to the outdoorknock-out using
lining and bushing with an electrical insulation such
as rubberand so on.
• Must keep the cable in a protection tube.
• Keep distances of 50mm ormore between power
cable and communication cable.
• When the cables are connected through the hole,
remove the Plate bottom.

2 As shown in thefigure, peel offthe shields from the
rubberand wire of the powercable.
• Peel off 20 mm of cable shields from the pre-
installed tube.
CAUTION
• Forinformation about the powercable specifications
forindoorand outdoorunits, referto the installation
manual.
• Afterpeeling off cablewiresfrom the pre-installed
tube, insert a contractiontube.
• If cablewires are connectedwithout using connecting
sleeves, theircontact area becomes reduced, or
corrosion develops onthe outersurfaces ofthewires
(copperwires) overa long time. This maycause an
increase of resistance (reduction of passing current)
and consequentlymayresult in afire.

3 Insert both sides of corewire of the powercable into
the connection sleeve.
• Method1: Push the corewire into the sleevefrom
both sides.
• Method 2: Twist thewire cores togetherand push

CAUTION
• 3 m as minimum pipe length: Itwill reduce noise and
vibration.
• Tighten the nuts to the specified torques.
If overtightened,the nuts could be broken so
refrigerant mayleak.
• Protect orenclose refrigerant tubing to avoid
mechanical damage.
NOTE
• The appearance ofthe unit maybe different from the
diagram depending on the model.
• You can usethe Cool and Heat modes in thefollowing

Step7 Optional:Cuttingandflaring

1 Make sure thatyou have the required tools available.
(pipe cutter, reamer, flaring tool, and pipe holder)
2 Ifyouwish to shorten the pipes, cut itwith a pipe
cutter, taking care to ensure that the cut edge
remains at a 90° anglewith the side of the pipe. Refer
to the illustrations belowforexamples of edges cut
correctlyand incorrectly.
