FCC RF EXPOSURE INFORMATION
In August 1996 the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States
with its action in Report and Order FCC 96-326 adopted an updated safety standard for
human exposure to radio frequency electromagnetic energy emitted by FCC regulated
transmitters. Those guidelines are consistent with the safety standard previously set by
both U.S. and international standards bodies. The design of this phone complies with
the FCC guidelines and these international standards.
Use only the supplied or an approved antenna. Unauthorized antennas, modifications,

Do not use the phone with a damaged antenna. If a damaged antenna comes into

Body-worn Operation
To maintain compliance with FCC RF exposure guidelines, use only belt-clips, holsters
or similar accessories that maintain a 2.54 cm separation distance.These accessories
should not contain any metallic components in its assembly. The use of accessories that

Battery:Puttinginthepower
YournewSamsung Phone comeswitharechargeablebatterythat ispartiallychargedsoyoucan useit
immediatelyafteryouactivate,withoutanyhassle.Usethebatteryuntil it iscompletelydrained. Recharging
thebatterywithoutfirstcompletelydraining ordischarging it mayshortenthelifeofthebattery.
Installingyourbattery.
Toinstall yourbattery,justfollowthesesimplesteps:
1. Holdthebatterywiththelabelracing down, making surethemetalcontactsat thebaseofthe
basebatterylineup withthemetalcontactsonthebaseofthephone.
2. Place it onthebackofthebaseofthephonewiththebaseofthebattery.
3. Pushupthebatteryreleaselatchonthebackofthephonewhilepushthebatteryonthethephone.
Turningyourphoneonandoff
Whenyou'rereadytoturnonyourSamsung Phone,checktosee that the charged batteryhasbeeninstalledin
thebackofthephoneorthatyou haveanexternalpowersource(theRapidCigaretteLighterAdapterorthe
Hands-Free CarKit).Then, Simplypress and hold<END>.
Theredlightflashesbrieflyand thebannerisdisplayed, whichmeansyou'rereadytomakeacall.
Turning off thephoneisjustas simple.Press and hold<END>fortwoseconds.Thedisplaywill beblank when

Removingyourbattery.
1. First,turnthepoweroff toavoidlosing stored numbersand messages.
2. Pushupthebatteryreleaselatchonthebackofthephoneand pull it out.
Chargingyourbattery.
Youcantell whetherornotyourbatteryneedstoberechargedjustbychecking theupper-rightcornerofyour
phone'sdisplay,wherethebatterychargeindicatorislocated. Whenthebatterychargelevel islow,thebattery
iconwill blink and thephonewill sound atone.
Ifyoucontinuetouseyourphonewithoutrecharging and thebatterylevelbecomestoo lowit will turnoff
automatically.Analert tonewill sound justbeforethephoneturnsitselfoff.Ifthishappens, unfortunately you'll
losewhateveryouwerejustdoing. So,watchtheindicatorand makesureyourlevel isokay.
Tochargeyourbattery,youshould usetheSamsung TravelAdaptor,RapidDesktopCharger,TravelChargeror
RapidCigaretteLighterAdapterfromSamsung.
Usingthe rapid desktopcharger.
ShouldonlyusetheSamsung-approvedTravelAdaptorand ACadapterwiththisSamsung Phone.Using the
wrong one couldcausedamage.
1. Plug one end oftheACadapterintoyourphoneand theotherend intoawall outlet.
2. Insert thebatterypack.
Theblinking redLEDand displaying charactersintheLCDonthephonewill letyou knowthebatteryisbeing
charged. TheOff LEDand characterstell youwhenthebatteryisat least80 percentcharged.
Ifyourbattery'schargeiscompletelyrun down, it will takeabout three hourstofullyrechargeit.Youmust
completelydischargetheLi-Ion batterybeforerecharging it.
Recharging thebatterywithoutfirstcompletelydischarging it mayshortenthelifeofthebattery.
Ifyouleaveyourphoneturnedonwhileit'sinthe charger,yourbatterywill takelongertocharge.

answeracall.
UsingCaller ID.
Thisfeaturetellsyouwhoiscalling youonyourSamsung Phonebydisplaying the caller'snumberwhenthe
phonerings.(Ifthe caller'snameand numberarestoredinyourinternalphonebook, the caller'snamewill be
displayed, too.) Ifyoucall someonewhohasthisfeature,yourSamsung PhoneNumberwill bedisplayedontheir
phone.

thesecond numberand press <SEND>.Whenyouare connected, press <SEND>againtobeginyourthree-way
call.Whenyou usethisfeature,youwill be charged normalairtimeraiseforbothcallsthatyou place.
Savingor editingyourownemergencynumbers.
Youcansaveup tothree emergencyphonenumbersonyourSamsung Phone,inadditionto911. Tosavethose
numbers,followthestepsbelow.
1. Press <MENU>.
2. Press <#>toselect"Security."
3. Thephoneprompts."LockCode."Enteryourfour-digit lockcode(unless you've changedit,this

give eachentryaname.

Whenadding numberstoyourinternalphonebook, keepinmind that memorylocations1through 9(1and9are
reserved)should beusedforOne-TouchDialing (yourmostcommonlyused phonenumbers).Tosavenumbers,
simplyfollowthedirectionsbelow.
1. Enterthenumberyouwant tosave.Press <OK>.Wesuggest thatyousavenumbersusing ten
digits(areacode+number) soyoucan dialfromyourphonebookwhiletraveling outsideyourHome
Service Area.
