SRP-500 Driver Installation
1. From your Windows desktop, select Start, then Settings, and then Printers. The
Printers dialog box displays.
2. From the Printers dialog box, double click the Add Printer icon. The Add Printer
wizard window displays.
3. Click Next. The wizard asks: How is the printer attached to your computer?
4. Choose Local Printer, click Next. The wizard asks you to select the printer you are
installing.
5. Click the Have Disk command button. From the Install From Disk dialog box, click
the Browse button to locate the appropriate driver file:

6. Select the appropriate driver (i.e. srp500.inf for Windows98) and click OK.
7. The Install From Disk dialog box displays, click OK.
8. The Add Printer Wizard now displays with the SAMSUNG SRP-500 selected. Click
Next. The printer driver files are now installed.
9. The Add Printer Wizard asks you to select the port to which the printer will be
connected. Select the port and click Next.
10. Enter a printer name and select whether you want your windows based program to use
this printer as the default printer. Click Next.
11. Select whether you wish to print a test page and click Finish. The printer driver
installation is complete.

Windows 98 Driver Settings
1. From your Windows desktop, select Start, then Settings, and then Printers.
2. From the printers dialog, right click the SRP-500 driver and choose Properties.
3. From the Generic / Text Only dialog box, click the Additional Commands tab:
4. At the BeginDoc field, type the command to print the logo, for example:
\xlb\x67\x01
to print logo1. To print a logo, you must also download the bitmap image to flash
memory. See “SRP-500 StoreMaker Utility” on page 13.
5. At the EndDoc1 field, type the command to print the logo, for example:
\xlb\x67\x02
to print promotion2. To print a promotion , you must also download the bitmap image
to flash memory. See xxx
6. Make additional selections for drawer opening and paper cutting as necessary.
7. Click OK to save the new settings.

Hexadecimal Dumping
Overview
This feature allows experienced users to see exactly what data is coming to the printer. This
can be useful in finding software problems. When you turn on the hexadecimal dump function,
the printer prints all commands and data in hexadecimal format along with a guide section to
help you find specific commands.
SRP-500 Hexadecimal Dump
To use the hexadecimal dump function, follow these steps:
1. After you make sure that the printer is off, open the front cover of the printer.
2. Hold down the feed button while you turn on the printer.
3. Close the printer cover.
4. Run any software program that sends data to the printer. The printer will print all the
codes it receives in a two-column format. The first column contains the hexadecimal
codes and the second column gives the ASCII characters that correspond to the codes.
5. When the printing finishes, turn off the printer.

SRP-270 Hexadecimal Dump
It may be useful to compare hexadecimal dumps with a known printer, such as the Samsung
SRP-270. To print a hexadecimal dump on the SRP-270:
1. After you make sure that the printer is off, open the front cover of the printer.
2. Hold down the feed button while you turn on the printer.
3. Close the printer cover.
4. Run any software program that sends data to the printer. The printer will print all the
codes it receives in a two-column format. The first column contains the hexadecimal
codes and the second column gives the ASCII characters that correspond to the codes.
5. When the printing finishes, turn off the printer and return switch 2-2 to the OFF
position.
6. Turn on the printer. Hexadecimal mode is OFF.

Troubleshooting
If you are connecting an SRP-500 to a specific software application for the first time, you may
encounter printing differences from a printer model you are currently supporting. You can
isolate the commands causing the print difference by comparing hex dumps from a working
printer the printer with a problem print format. For example, receipts and the corresponding
hex dumps from two printers, the Samsung SRP-500 and the Samsung SRP-270 are shown
below:

Logo Creation Instructions
This procedure states how to save bit map files made using the Microsoft Paint software.
Bit Map File Specification
•Maximum total file size to be downloaded to the SRP-500 is 256K bytes.
•Maximum total images = 10
•There is no restriction in pixel size.
•If the size of image is bigger than paper width, Utility(StoreMaker) automatically
decrease the size to fix paper width.
•If the size of image is smaller than paper width, Utility(StoreMaker) dosen’t change its
size.

SRP-500 StoreMaker Utility
Introduction
The Samsung SRP-500 StoreMaker utility converts true color images to 2-color images that
are ready for use as logos by the Samsung SRP-500 printer. After conversion, the image’s
color and value can be controlled to achieve the best results. In addition, the utility supports
image printing, storing and downloads images to the SRP-500 flash ROM.
You can download StoreMaker (SRP500 storemaker.zip) from the CRS web site,
www.crs-usa.com.
Start StoreMaker
Click Start, Programs, Samsung SRP-500 StoreMaker, Samsung SRP-500 StoreMaker.
The StoreMaker dialog box displays.

Add/Edit an Image
To prepare a new image, click the Add Image button. (Or, click the Open Image button to
edit an image.) Select the image file from the dialog. When opened, the image is converted to
2-color and displayed with the default cartridge color and color range selections. The image
file name will be displayed in the list box, where up to 10 images can be displayed.
This Utility support six types Image formats: bmp, jpg, gif, emf , wmf , and ico . After Load,
You can see 2-color converted Image under default cartridge setting and the image item
inserted in list box.
The image item list automatically saved in your computer and you can remove an item by
Delete Image button.

Image Views
•At the left, the original images are listed. And the Right is a 2-color converted Image.
•If checkbox Update is checked, the image will automatically update when Image color or
value changed.
•If checkbox Fit scale is checked, large images will automatically resize to fit on the screen.
•Click the Update button to update the image.
•The Fit Center button will position the image is for position setting.
•Click the Image Editer button to load the Windows MSPaint utility for image editing. (If
your OS is different, other utilities are supported. For example, Windows 98 loads
Paintbrush.)

Image Cartridge Selection
Select the cartridge colors that match the cartridges installed in your printer. Each cartridge
can be red, green blue or black.
•When the Color Change Select checkbox is not selected, click the option button
representing the color of the right cartridge.
•When the Color Change Select checkbox is selected, click the option button representing
the color of the left cartridge.
•If custom ink colors are used, you can click the R Cartridge or L Cartridge buttons and
select the appropriate color from the color palette.

Convert Image
Threshold
One means of improving 2-color image quality is dithering. (Dithering refers to mixing pixels
of (usually two) available colors in certain patterns and ratios.) Move the dithering threshold
scrollbar to obtain the best image quality.
R Value & L Value
The scrollbars controls the right and left cartridge values.
Color Swapping
The RBG control allows color swapping. Use the Invert Color check box to exchange the two
available colors. The remaining checkboxes will exchange the colors indicated.

Print & Download Image to SRP-500 Flash ROM
The utility supports Print, Store, and Store to File commands.
•Click the Print button to print the Image.
•Click the Store button to download the image to your SRP-500 printer.
If running DOS, the Store to File command is recommended. This command will download
data to a binary file. Then at the DOS prompt, run the command:
C:\> copy/b test.prn lpt1: (in parallel interface)
In order to print the downloaded image, use the specific command.
Syntax ESC g <n>
Hexdecimal 1B 67 <n>
Comment <n> : Index no. of the image.
Direct Print Setup
You must specify the communications connection and select the print resolution.
NOTE: On USB interface, Utility(StoreMaker) need to install windows driver. (not on
IEEE1284 & RS232C)

Direct Print Communications
Choose Communication Port Setting from the Settings menu. The Set Communication Port
dialog box displays:
Select the appropriate port (serial or parallel), Baud Rate, Parity, Data bits, ‘stop bit, Flow
Control. Settings must match the SRP-500 printer to produce desirable print.

Direct Print Resolution
Choose Resolution Setting from the Settings menu. The Set Resolution dialog box displays:
The Resolution Selection can be any of the four displayed. Single density is the fastest but
prints with the least quality. The Quad Density is the best quality, but is the slowest. Double
density 100x196 is a good compromise.
