Installing some of the Savant equipment requires two installers to ensure safe handling during installation. Failure to use two

3.!System and Hardware Overview
The diagram below gives a high level view of how the lighting devices integrate into a Savant Pro System. For installation and wiring of each device, refer to the
appropriate section in this document.
Additional Information:
!!Connection between the Savant Host and the local wireless router requires an RJ-45 Cat 5e/6/7 cable.
!!The WIS, WID, WIF, and WIK support IEEE 802.11 b/g/n format.
!!Starting in da Vinci 7.2, lighting controller functionality was added to the Savant Pro and Smart Hosts. With these functions built into the Host, a separate
lighting controller is not needed.
!!All Metropolitan style devices except the WI3-xxx102 Auxiliary Control communicate over the local wireless network.
!!The WI3-xxx102 Auxiliary Control uses a traveler wire to send information to its master device. The WI3-xxx102 is used as a remote device that adds multi
location (3-way) functionality to the system. The Fan Controller does NOT support multi location (3-way) functionality.
!!The WIF-xxx104 Fan Controller controls a fan. If the fan includes a light kit, a separate wireless lighting device such as a Switch (WIS), Dimmer (WID), or
Keypad (WIK) is required to control the light.
!!The Savant App, Savant Pro 8 App, and TrueControl II all support the Metropolitan style wireless lighting.

3.2.!WIK-xxS104 Wireless Keypad
The Metropolitan style wireless keypad is specifically designed to function within the Savant Pro System to control most lighting loads. This includes
dimmable incandescent, magnetic and electronic low voltage, dimmable CFL, and dimmable LED. The keypads incorporate a push button rotary dial as
well as four additional buttons to allow a user more flexibility to control other functions such as audio, video, and shades.
The Savant wireless keypad can replace any standard 120V AC light switch or dimmer and can be wired into either a standard or no neutral configuration.
With the addition of the Savant Auxiliary Control, these keypads can accommodate most 3-way wiring designs for multi-location control.
Finally, the WIK-xxx104 utilizes the local 802.11 b/g/n wireless networks to allow it to be added to the Savant Pro System for complete control of lighting
as well as other switching and dimming functions.
Ambient Light Sensor – Detects the level of ambient light in the room and adjusts the brightness of the LEDs
on the front panel. The operation of the ambient light sensor can be modified using either Blueprint or the
Web UI in System Monitor.
RESET Button – The reset button has two functions:
•!Press and Hold (hold for 5 seconds) – Resets keypad to AP Mode.
!!After five seconds, all LEDs on the front panel illuminate, remain on for two seconds, and then blink
twice. The keypad reboots and reverts to Provisioning Mode (AP Mode). In this mode, the two top
button LEDs blink in an alternating pattern. The keypad is now ready to be provisioned.
•!Press and Release – Calibrates keypad.
!!After releasing, all LEDs illuminate for about six seconds and then blink twice.
!!The load characteristics are checked to determine the best phase for the attached load.
!!The control parameters for the no neutral operation, if applicable, are determined.
HELPFUL INFORMATION! (For Press and Release)
!!For calibration purposes, the reset button must always be pressed (or Service Switch toggled) after
installing or replacing a keypad.
!!After the calibration is complete, the keypad resets and the top two button LEDs will blink a specific
pattern. The pattern indicates if the keypad was previously connected to a wireless network.
Refer to the appropriate device in either the Installing Hardware section or Appendix B: LED Sequencing for
more information on the states the keypad could be in after a reset.
Keypad Dial and Buttons – Includes four buttons and one rotary dial for the control of several loads. Above
the rotary dial are six dimming LEDs used to track the brightness or signaling level sent to the load. Once
configured in Blueprint, the dimming LEDs track the brightness or signaling level of a scene.
The LEDs on each push button are dual purpose:
!!When provisioning, the LEDs indicate the state of the keypad.
!!After configured in Blueprint, the LEDs track the state of a scene.
IMPORTANT!The rotary dial on the WIK does not support volume control on devices that require IR
signaling to control volume. To control volume using the rotary dial, the controlled device must support
volume control over either RS-232 or IP.
Refer to the appropriate device in either the Installing Hardware section or Appendix B: LED Sequencing for
more information on the states the keypad could be in after a reset.
Service Switch – Used to power cycle the device, disconnect power from the load (red wire), or calibrate the
keypad whenever the load is changed.
IMPORTANT! When replacing a load (bulb), the power to the load should be toggled Off before
removing the load.

3.3.!WID-xxS102 Wireless Dimmer
The Metropolitan style wireless dimmer is specifically designed to function within the Savant Pro System to switch or dim most lighting loads. This
includes dimmable incandescent, magnetic or electronic low voltage, dimmable CFL, and dimmable LED.
The dimmer replaces any standard 120V AC light switch or dimmer and can be wired into either a standard or no neutral configuration. With the addition
of the Savant WI3-xxS102 Auxiliary Control, the dimmer can accommodate most 3-way wiring designs for multi-location control.
Finally, the WID-xxS102 utilizes the local 802.11 b/g/n wireless network to allow it to be added to the Savant Pro System for complete control of all your
lighting needs.
Ambient Light Sensor – Detects the level of ambient light in the room and adjusts brightness of the LEDs on
the front panel. The operation of the ambient light sensor can be modified using either Blueprint or the Web

Dimming Level – Six dimming LEDs track the brightness of the load. LEDs turn on from left to right as
brightness of the load increases and turns off from right to left as the brightness decreases. Once configured
in Blueprint, the LEDs track the state of the scene.
Button LED – Dependent on the state of the dimmer, the LED will react like one of the following:
!!LED illuminates each time the button is pressed.
!!Indicates the state of the dimmer when connecting the dimmer to a network.
!!When connected to a network and configured in Blueprint, the LEDs display the state of the scene
configured on that button.

information on the states the dimmer could be in after a reset.
