■Insert the shaft of the quick release
lever into the left side of the wheel,
through the front maiden and on through
the right wheel side. Place the washer and
knob onto the quick release lever shaft,
compressing the spring on the lever side
until there is about an 1/8" or less of space
between the lever and the wheel side.
Close the quick release lever. The knob
should be just tight enough to allow rm
pressure when closing the lever.
If the lever closes loosely, open the lever,
tighten the knob a bit, and try closing the
lever again. If the lever requires a lot of
pressure to close, loosen the knob a bit.
Install the bulky flyer
■Loosen the front maiden so that it can
be tipped toward you as you sit in front of
the wheel.
■Place the Scotch tension string on the
bobbin and the drive band into the whorl
groove.
■Insert the end of the yer shaft into the
rear maiden bearing.
■Insert the orice into the front maiden.
Push the front maiden against the stops,
make sure it is vertical, and secure with
the quick release lever.
adjustIng the front maIden
Look at the yer from above to where the
orice enters the front bearing. Push the
yer shaft toward the rear. There should
remove the
standard front maIden
■Remove the yer, bobbin and whorl.
■Open the quick release lever and
unscrew the knob. Remove the knob and
washer, then pull out the quick release
lever shaft.
■Remove the front maiden and store.
Install the
bulky front maIden
■Place the bulky front maiden between
the wheel sides with the logo facing the
front of the wheel.

be a 1/16" space between the burgundy
bearing and the black shoulder of the
yer.
If the yer doesn’t move and there is no
gap, you will need to reposition the rear
bearing. Loosen the screw in the side of
the rear maiden. Slide the yer to the rear
about 1/16" to create a space between the
yer shaft shoulder and the orice bear-
ing. Tighten the screw to secure the rear
bearing.
adjustIng the front bearIng
Check to see if your yer spins freely. Re-
move the yer, and re-install it without the
drive band or Scotch tension string. Make
sure that there is a gap between the yer
shoulder and the orice bearing as shown
in Adjusting the front maiden. Spin the
yer. If it does not turn freely, very slightly
loosen the bearing adjustment screw on
the side of the front maiden using a Phil-
lips screwdriver. Test the yer and adjust
the screw again if needed.
movIng the flyer hooks
Along the bottom of each yer arm are
eight small dimples. The adjustable yer
hooks slide along the yer and snap into
place at each dimple. The yer hooks
move most easily if you hold the hooks
above and below the yer.
You can adjust the yer hooks by tighten-
ing or loosening the screw on the bottom
of the hooks. Make small adjustments and
test.
To keep your yer in balance, always
leave both hooks on the yer.
a note about take-up
The bulky yer on the cover is shown
with a slow whorl and the large end of the
bobbin facing the whorl. If you are having
problems adjusting take-up, try moving
the drive band to the other whorl groove,
and/or turning the bobbin to place the
small end toward the whorl. •
