■Insert the shaft of the quick release le-
ver into the left side of the wheel, through
the bulky front maiden and on through
the right wheel side. Place the washer and
knob onto the quick release lever shaft,
compressing the spring on the lever side
until there is about an 1/8" or so of space
between the lever and the wheel side.
Close the quick release lever. The knob
should be just tight enough to need rm
pressure to close the lever.
If the lever closes loosely, open the lever,
tighten the knob a bit, and try closing the
lever again. If the lever requires a lot of
pressure to close, loosen the knob a bit.
INSTALL THE BULKY FLYER
■Loosen the front maiden so that it can
be tipped toward you as you sit in front of
the wheel.
■Put the bobbin on the yer with the
large end toward the back. Put your de-
sired whorl on the yer.
■Place the Scotch tension string on the
bobbin and the drive band into the whorl
groove.
■Insert the end of the yer shaft into the
rear maiden bearing.
■Insert the orice into the front maiden.
■Push the front maiden against the
stops, make sure it is vertical, and secure
with the quick release lever.
■Check to make sure the rear maiden is
vertical and pushed against its stops.
REMOVE THE
STANDARD FRONT MAIDEN
■Remove the yer, bobbin and whorl.
■Open the front quick release lever and
unscrew the quick release knob. Remove
the knob and washer, then pull out the
quick release lever shaft.
■Remove the front maiden and store.
INSTALL THE
BULKY FRONT MAIDEN
■Place the bulky front maiden between
the wheel sides with the logo facing the
front of the wheel.

ADJUSTING THE REAR BEARING
Look at the yer from above to where the
orice enters the front bearing. Slide the
yer shaft toward the rear. There should
be about a 1/16" gap between the front
bearing and the shoulder of the yer.
■To reposition the rear bearing, loosen
the screw in the side of the rear maiden.
■Slide the yer to the rear about 1/16"
to create a space between the yer shaft
shoulder and the front bearing.
■Tighten the screw to secure the rear
bearing.
ADJUSTING THE FRONT BEARING
To check to see if your yer spins freely,
remove the yer and re-install it without
the drive band or Scotch tension string.
■Make sure that there is a gap between
the yer shoulder and the orice bearing
as shown above.
■Spin the yer.
■If the yer does not turn freely, very
slightly loosen the bearing adjustment
screw on the side of the front maiden us-
ing a Phillips screwdriver.
■Test the yer and adjust the screw
again if needed.
MOVING THE FLYER HOOKS
Along the bottom of each yer arm are
eight small dimples. The adjustable yer
hooks slide along the yer and a spring
loaded ball bearing snaps into place at
each dimple. The yer hooks move most
easily if you hold the hooks above and
below the yer.
To keep your yer in balance, always
leave both hooks on the yer.
A NOTE ABOUT TAKE UP
As you spin or ply, the bobbin will get
heavier. You might need to tighten the
Scotch tension string more often.
