This document is only valid in combination with the as-
sembly and operating manual.
Replace radial shaft sealing rings
If oil leaks from the rotary module, the radial shaft seal-
ing rings must be replaced immediately. If the radial
shaft sealing rings are replaced erroneously, components
may become damaged. The warranty is void. This is why
we recommend contacting SCHUNK Service and having
the radial shaft sealing rings replaced by SCHUNK.
WARNING
Risk of burns due to contact with hot surfaces and hot
oil!
ØPrior to starting work on the module, allow it to cool
down to no more than 40°C.
ØMeasure the surface temperature before touching
the module.
ØWear protective gloves.
CAUTION
Risk of injury due to leaking hydraulic oil!
Hydraulic oil may cause irritation if it comes into contact
with the skin and eyes. If hydraulic oil leaks, this poses a
danger of slipping.
ØAvoid skin contact with hydraulic oil.
ØWear protective gloves and safety goggles.
ØProperly remove spilled or leaking hydraulic oil im-
mediately.
ØDetermine the inset of the radial shaft sealing ring
(11) in the housing. To do this, use the press-in die.
ØPlace an oil trough underneath and drain the oil.
ØDisassemble distributor flange, if the radial shaft seal-
ing ring (12) must be replaced.
ØDisassemble motor and motor add-on kit, if radial
shaft sealing ring (13) is to be replaced.
NOTICE
Property damage due to improper disassembly of the
radial shaft sealing ring!
Do not bore radial shaft sealing ring using a drill. When
drilling, chips may enter the bearing damaging it.
ØSCHUNK recommends the use of the tool "Seal
Puller SP 50 (Simatool®)". A corresponding disas-
sembly kit is included in the SCHUNK maintenance
kit.
ØRemove radial shaft sealing rings with a suitable dis-
assembly tool. Observe the instructions provided by
the tool manufacturer, section Replace radial shaft
sealing rings

NOTE
• It is possible that oil may have accumulated between
the radial shaft sealing rings and the bearings and is
unable to drain through the drain holes.
ØCarefully clean the area between radial shaft sealing
ring and bearing.
ØFill the interior of the radial shaft sealing ring (11) and
the area between the sealing lip and the dust lip
about 40% full with sealing grease (Amblygon TA
15/2).
Fill interior of the radial shaft sealing ring(12) about
40% with sealing grease (Amblygon TA 15/2).
Fill interior of the radial shaft sealing ring(13) about
40% with sealing grease (Mobil Grease XHP222). If re-
quired, apply around the same amount of grease to
the bearing.
ØRub in the same grease to the sealing lip of the radial
shaft sealing ring.
ØPress in the radial shaft sealing ring with a suitable
device.
✓Suitable equipment (press-in die) are available
from SCHUNK together with the radial shaft seal-
ing rings as a maintenance kit.
✓Make sure that the radial shaft sealing ring is not
pressed it at an angle.
✓Do not mount the radial shaft sealing ring using a
hammer.
✓Make sure that the press-in depth varies slightly
compared to the depth determined under point1,
so that the sealing lip on the new radial shaft seal-
ing ring is applied to a different point. Otherwise
leaks can occur.
ØCarefully lift the sealing lip of the radial shaft sealing
ring(11) with a blunt, thin object so that the trapped
air can escape.
ØCheck contamination of the oil, if required use new
oil. Check oil quantity, if required top up oil.
ØFill both oil chambers separately, see chapter "oil
change" in the operating manual and mounting in-
structions.
Disassemble radial shaft sealing rings using the tool
"Seal Puller SP 50"

ØHit tool three times in the sealing ring.
ØScrew in tool three revolutions.
ØHit the tool in the opposing direction.
✔The sealing ring is removed from its original position.
