Chapter 1
Overview
This document provides operating instructions for the SG-1V224ST Upright.
All features described in this document may not appear on every machine. Your machine may have only
features supported by your software version, jurisdiction, and machine configuration.
CAUTION: KEEP ALL DOORS CLOSED UNTIL THE UNIT IS
SECURED IN PLACE TO PREVENT INSTABILITY. THE
UNIT MUST BE SECURED IN PLACE BEFORE OPENING
ANY DOORS FOR MAINTENANCE OR SERVICE.
FOR CABINETS WITH A TYPE Y ATTACHMENT, IF THE
POWER CORD IS DAMAGED, IT MUST BE REPLACED BY
BALLY, ITS SERVICE AGENT, OR SIMILARLY QUALIFIED
PERSONS TO AVOID A HAZARD.
This document may describe procedures for equipment that do not apply to
all cabinet configurations, or that may require additional components. Each
regulatory jurisdiction may have controls, policies and, procedures that you
must follow. You are responsible for understanding and abiding by the rules
that apply in your environment.
To meet Regulatory Safety Compliance requirements, only use replacement
parts supplied by Bally.
When performing service, inspect gaskets for damage and if damaged
replace with parts supplied by Bally.

Installation may require the following additional items:
• Locks (quantity 5 to 9 depending upon your machine configuration
• Category 5 network cables (quantity and length depending upon your machine configuration and
your floor plan)
• Tools for locks
• 22mm (7/8-inch), 11mm (7/16-inch) and 10mm (39/100-inch) socket or wrench

Installing the Main Door Lock
• Location: at the center of the cabinet, below the deck
• Unlocking Rotation: clockwise
•Cam:
STEP 1. Unlock the belly door by inserting the key into the left lock and turning it to the right.
STEP 2. Upon unlocking, the belly door opens slightly. Grasp the right edge of the belly door and pull
outward.
STEP 3. Unlock the cash box door by inserting the key into the right lock, turning it to the right, and
lowering the door.

STEP 4. Remove the cover from the bottom of deck by removing six screws securing the deck bottom
cover plate.
STEP 5. Unlock the main door by inserting the key into the center lock and turning it to the right to
release the handle.
STEP 6. Grasp the handle from the left edge and pull it forward until the main door separates from the
lock.
STEP 7. Grasp the right side of the main door and open it from right to left.

STEP 8. With the main door open, open the pillow assembly by grasping the top of the trim and tilting
it towards yourself.
STEP 9. To access the main door lock pod assembly, remove four screws from behind the main door.
Note that a symbol of a lock identifies each of the lock pod screws.
STEP 10. Detach the main lock pod assembly from the cabinet.

Getting Started
Unpacking and Inspecting the Machine
STEP 1. Remove any external packaging.
STEP 2. Verify that the serial numbers on the cabinet match the shipping documents.
STEP 3. Unpack and remove all loose parts from the cabinet such as extra cables, lock cams, and
mounting hardware.
STEP 4. Inspect interior cable and circuit board connections and ensure they are firmly connected.
CAUTION: SECURE THE MACHINE TO THE WALL, FLOOR, OR
BACK-TO-BACK WITH ANOTHER MACHINE. THE
MACHINE MUST BE BOLTED TO THE WALL, FLOOR, OR
OTHER MACHINE BEFORE OPENING DOORS.

Securing the Machine
STEP 1. Ensure the new location has appropriate power and network cabling installed.
STEP 2. Move the machine to the desired location using a lifting or moving device such as a hand
truck.
STEP 3. Place the machine on its base at the desired location using a lifting device.
• Do not place the machine on any wires or cables.
• For two or more cabinets, place cabinets side-by-side or back-to-back.
• Example - For one cabinet, install against a wall or in a corner.
• Example - For a single line of cabinets, install against a wall.
• Example - For multiple, freestanding, even numbers of cabinets not positioned against
a wall, install back-to-back.
NOTE: Changes in floor configuration may require rerouting power and CAT-5
cables.
CAUTION: The machines are heavy. To prevent injuries and damage, always wear a back
brace, work with a partner, and do not use the tower light to grip the
machine. To move the machine easily over a carpeted area, use a hand truck
with solid—not air-filled—tires.
CAUTION: Ensure the sides and back of the cabinet are not exposed or accessible by
players.

• Example - For multiple, freestanding, odd numbers of cabinets not positioned against a
wall, install in pods.
STEP 4. Open the belly door and remove the speaker by removing two screws and disconnecting the
speaker cable. See “Accessing the Belly Door” on page 19.
STEP 5. Secure the machine to the base with four bolts using the provided holes.
NOTE: For pod configurations, fasten adjacent stands together using the Stand
Hinge Bracket with Mounting Hardware Kit (1400978-104).
CAUTION: To prevent tipping, always secure the cabinet firmly to the stand using the
Cabinet Stand Mounting Hardware Kit (205343).

• Secure doors with locks installed according to instructions from your lock manufacturer.
• When closing doors, always ensure the door frame areas are free from foreign objects and that the
door latches securely.
• Do not apply excessive force.
Accessing the Belly Door
STEP 1. To unlock the belly door, insert the key into the left lock and turn it to the right.
STEP 2. Upon unlocking, the belly door opens slightly. Grasp the right edge of the belly door and pull
outward.
CAUTION: THE MACHINE MUST BE BOLTED TO THE WALL,
FLOOR, OR OTHER MACHINE BEFORE OPENING
DOORS.

Accessing the Main Door
STEP 1. To unlock the main door, insert the key into the center lock and turn it to the right to release
the handle.
STEP 2. Grasp the handle from the left edge and pull it forward until the upper portion of the main
door separates from the lock.
STEP 3. Grasp the right side of the main door and open it from right to left.
