Procedure: CRATE UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS
Description: Instructions for how to unpack the items in the Seakeeper crate.
1) Refer to instructions on page 2 for removing the metal clips. Clip removal tool is attached to the crate
and circled in image below. Remove the clips at the top of the crate and carefully remove the lid.
2) Remove the 4 sides of the crate.
3) Keep the gyro bolted to the base until ready for installation. The base may be moved using a forklift or
pallet jack if needed. To separate gyro from crate base, remove the lag screws at each corner of the
frame shown circled below. A ¾” socket or wrench will be required. Additional bolts (shown with arrow
below) inside the frame will need to be removed and require two, 9/16” wrenches. Attach slings or
chains to lift eyes at top of enclosure as shown on page 3. Prior to lifting, read step 4. Note gyro may
look different than illustrated below.

4) The following photographs containing green circles show acceptable methods to lift the gyro, such as a
spreader bar or long lift slings. Keep the lifting lines as close to vertical as possible. Do NOT use short
lines as shown in the red circle as the lift eyes may be damaged. (NOTE: GYRO MAY LOOK
DIFFERENT THAN ILLUSTRATED.)
Use caution when removing mounting bolts to keep from damaging cables and hoses
on the gyro.
