1.2.GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING! Compressor must only be serviced by an authorised agent.
3Familiarise yourself with the application and limitations of the compressor.
3Ensure the compressor is in good order and condition before use. If in any doubt do not use the unit and contact an electrician/service agent.
3Before moving, or maintaining the compressor ensure it is unplugged from the mains supply and that the air brush is disconnected.
3Do not attach anything other than an air brush to the compressor.
3Only use recommended air brush attachments and parts. To use non-recommended items may be dangerous and will invalidate your warranty.
3Ensure the safe working pressure of any air brush used, exceeds the units output pressure.
3Ensure the area selected for spraying is provided with suitable ventilation.
3Ensure the compressor is turned off before disconnecting the air brush.
3To move the compressor use the handle only.
3Use the compressor in a well ventilated area and ensure it is placed on a firm surface.
3Keep tools and other items away from the compressor when it is in use, and keep area clean and clear of unnecessary items.
3Ensure the air brush supply hose is not tangled or twisted, or pinched.
3Keep children and unauthorised persons away from the working area.
7DO NOT dis-assemble compressor for any reason. The unit must be checked and serviced by an approved service agent.
7DO NOT use the compressor outdoors, or in damp, or wet locations.
7DO NOT operate within the vicinity of flammable liquids, gases or solids.
7DO NOT touch compressor cylinder head as it may be hot and will remain so for some time after shutdown.
7DO NOT attempt to move the compressor by pulling the air brush supply hose. Only move the compressor by its handle.
7DO NOT use this product to perform a task for which it has not been designed.

1. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. NOTE THE SAFE OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, WARNINGS & CAUTIONS.
USE THE PRODUCT CORRECTLY AND WITH CARE FOR THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH IT IS INTENDED. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY CAUSE
DAMAGE AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY AND WILL INVALIDATE THE WARRANTY. PLEASE KEEP INSTRUCTIONS SAFE FOR FUTURE USE.
1.1. ELECTRICAL SAFETY
p WARNING! It is the responsibility of the owner and the operator to read, understand and comply with the following:
You must check all electrical products, before use, to ensure that they are safe. You must inspect power cables, plugs, sockets and any other
connectors for wear or damage. You must ensure that the risk of electric shock is minimised by the installation of appropriate safety devices.
A Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB) should be incorporated in the main distribution board. We also recommend that a Residual Current
Device (RCD) is used. It is particularly important to use an RCD with portable products that are plugged into a supply which is not protected
by an RCCB. If in any doubt consult a qualified electrician. You may obtain a Residual Current Device by contacting your Sealey dealer.
You must also read and understand the following instructions concerning electrical safety.
1.1.1. The Electricity at Work Act 1989 requires all portable electrical appliances, if used on business premises, to be tested by a qualified
electrician, using a Portable Appliance Tester (PAT), at least once a year.
1.1.2. The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 makes owners of electrical appliances responsible for the safe condition of those appliances
and the safety of the appliance operators. If in any doubt about electrical safety, contact a qualified electrician.
1.1.3. Ensure that the insulation on all cables and on the appliance is safe before connecting it to the power supply. See 1.1.1. and 1.1.2.
and use a Portable Appliance Tester.
1.1.4. Ensure that cables are always protected against short circuit and overload.
1.1.5. Regularly inspect power supply cables and plugs for wear or damage and check all
connections to ensure that none is loose.
1.1.6. Important: Ensure that the voltage marked on the appliance matches the power supply
to be used and that the plug is fitted with the correct fuse - see fuse rating at right.
1.1.7. DO NOT pull or carry the appliance by the power cable.
1.1.8. DO NOT pull the plug from the socket by the cable.
1.1.9. DO NOT use worn or damaged cables, plugs or connectors. Immediately have any faulty
item repaired or replaced by a qualified electrician. When an ASTA/BS approved UK
3 pin plug is damaged, cut the cable just above the plug and dispose of the plug safely.
Fit a new plug according to the following instructions (UK only).
a) Connect the GREEN/YELLOW earth wire to the earth terminal E.
b) Connect the BROWN live wire to the live terminal L.
c) Connect the BLUE neutral wire to the neutral terminal N.
d) After wiring, check that there are no bare wires, that all wires have been correctly connected, that the cable outer insulation
extends beyond the cable restraint and that the restraint is tight.
Double insulated products, which are always marked with this symbol , are fitted with live (brown) and neutral (blue) wires only.
To rewire, connect the wires as indicated above - DO NOT connect either wire to the earth terminal.
1.1.10. Products which require more than 13 amps are supplied without a plug. In this case you must contact a qualified electrician to ensure that a
suitably rated supply is available. We recommend that you discuss the installation of an industrial round pin plug and socket with your electrician.
1.1.11. If an extension reel is used it should be fully unwound before connection. A reel with an RCD fitted is preferred since any appliance
plugged into it will be protected. The cable core section is important and should be at least 1.5mm2, but to be absolutely sure that the
capacity of the reel is suitable for this product and for others which may be used in the other output sockets, we recommend the use of
2.5mm2section cable. If extension reel is to be used outdoors, ensure it is marked for outdoor use.

2. INTRODUCTION & SPECIFICATION
The AB900 Mini Air Brush Compressor has a quiet running die-cast
aluminium diaphragm pump head. It is powered by a 120Watt electric motor
and is suitable for powering most air brushes. The compressor requires no
lubrication and the air supply from the unit is oil free.
3. PREPARATION

DANGER! DO NOT direct the output jet of air towards people or animals.
3When not in use, store the compressor carefully in a safe, dry, childproof location.
3Switch off the compressor when the air brush is not being used.
3Wear approved eye protection and a suitable respirator when painting.

WARNING! If an electrical fuse blows, ensure it is replaced with an identical fuse type and rating.
7DO NOT eat or smoke whilst spraying.
7DO NOT spray near naked flames.
7DO NOT leave the compressor running unattended.
7DO NOT operate the compressor whilst under the influence of drugs,alcohol or other intoxicating medication.
7DO NOT carry the compressor while operating the air brush.
7DO NOT cover the compressor or restrict air flow around the machine whilst operating.
7DO NOT allow anyone to operate the compressor unless they have received full instructions.
3.1. Remove compressor from packaging and inspect for any shortages or
damage. The packaging should contain your compressor with mains
lead and plug already fitted. In addition there is an adaptor to convert the
1/8 BSP outlet to the smaller diameter air brush hose fitting plus your
instruction manual and warranty card. If anything is found to be missing or
damaged contact your supplier.
3.3. Confirm that the mains voltage corresponds with the voltage
shown on the compressor data plate.
3.4. The compressor should be operated in a position that allows good
air circulation around the unit.
4. OPERATION

WARNING! Ensure that you have read, understood and apply Section 1 safety instructions.
4.1 Situate the compressor in a convenient position for the air brush work to be undertaken. Ensure that it is resting on a stable and level
surface that will not be affected by the minor vibration of the unit. Do not rest the compressor on sheets of paper or card etc. Ensure the
rubber feet are in direct contact with the work surface.
4.2 Do not operate the unit in an enclosed space and ensure that there is adquate air space around the unit.
4.3 Screw the chrome adaptor to the end of the air brush hose first, then screw the adaptor and hose to the 1/8BSP air outlet at the end of
the compressor handle. Attach the air brush to the other end of the hose.
4.4 Plug the mains lead into a convenient socket but do not switch on until you have fully prepared the medium to be sprayed, the air brush
and the item/surface to be sprayed.
4.5 Switch on the unit. The compressor will then provide a constant set air flow to the air brush.
4.6 Refer to the manufacturers instructions with your air brush for the correct spraying technique. Do not leave the compressor running for
any lenght of time with the air brush attached but not being used. If there is a pause in your work switch the compressor off.
4.7 If the operating note of the compressor changes there may be a blockage within the air brush or the air hose may be pinched. The
unit should be switched off immediately and the source of the blockage investigated and eliminated.
4.8 When the task is complete use the compressor to blow a suitable cleaning solvent through your air brush.
4.9 Switch the unit off. Operate the air brush to releive any pressure left in the hose. Disconnect the air brush from the compressor.
4.10 During and immediately after operation, the finned pump head may be hot and should not be touched. If the unit must be moved, lift it
by the handle only. Alow the unit to cool before storing it.
4.11Should there appear to be any loss of efficiency when spraying ensure first that the air brush is scrupulously clean and functioning
properly. If the air brush is satisfactory then refer to the trouble shooting guide for the compressor.

FAULT CAUSE REMEDY
Low air flow  Air valve plate (part no.33) or air Change the defective air valve plate
valve (part no.38) is damaged or air valve.
 Diaphragm damaged (part no.31) Change diaphragm.
 The head screws are too loose Tighten the screws equally.
(part no.42 x 6)
 Air hose too tight. Back off 1/4 turn.
 Air hose leaking. Check seals or renew hose.
Noisy operation  The head screws are too tight Loosen the screws and then tighten
(part no.42 x 6) them equally . Do not overtighten.
 Bearing fault. Return to dealer for checking.
Humming noise but does  The head screws are too tight Loosen the screws and then tighten
not work. (part no.42 x 6) them equally . Do not overtighten.
 Armature fault. (part no.3) Return to dealer for checking.

5.1 Keep the unit clean at all times.
Do not cover any of the ventilation slots.
Do not allow any extraneous material to enter the unit via any of the ventilation openings.
Store in dust free and dry conditions.
5.2 The troubleshooting guide below is intended to give you an indication of what type of fault may have developed with your unit over a
long period of service. The chart is not intended as a guide on how to repair the fault yourself. In all cases we recommend that the unit
be returned to an authorised service agent for rectification.
