instructions, and properly maintained, give you years of trouble free performance.

THE PRODUCT CORRECTLY AND WITH CARE FOR THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH IT IS INTENDED. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY CAUSE DAMAGE AND/OR
PERSONAL INJURY AND WILL INVALIDATE THE WARRANTY. KEEP THESE INSTRUCTIONS SAFE FOR FUTURE USE.
1. SAFETY
1.1. ELECTRICAL SAFETY
WARNING! It is the user’s responsibility to check the following:
Check all electrical equipment and appliances to ensure that they are safe before using. Inspect power supply leads, plugs and
all electrical connections for wear and damage. Sealey recommend that an RCD (Residual Current Device) is used with all
electrical products. You may obtain an RCD by contacting your local Sealey dealer.
1.1.1. If the product is used in the course of business duties, it must be maintained in a safe condition and routinely PAT (Portable
Appliance Test) tested.
IMPORTANT: Electrical safety information, it is important that the following information is read and understood.
1.1.2. Ensure that the insulation on all cables and on the appliance is safe before connecting it to the power supply.
1.1.3. Regularly inspect power supply cables and plugs for wear or damage and check all connections to ensure that they are secure.
IMPORTANT: Ensure that the voltage rating on the appliance suits the power supply to be used and that the plug is tted with the
correct fuse - see fuse rating in these instructions.
8DO NOT pull or carry the appliance by the power cable. DO NOT pull the plug from the socket by the cable.
9 Remove the plug from the socket by maintaining a rm grip on the plug.
8DO NOT use worn or damaged cables, plugs or connectors. Ensure that any faulty item is repaired or replaced immediately by a
qualied electrician.
1.1.4. This product is tted with a BS1363/A 13 Amp 3 pin plug.
1.1.5. If the cable or plug is damaged during use, switch the electricity supply and remove from use.
1.1.6. Replace a damaged plug with a BS1363/A 13 Amp 3 pin plug. If in doubt contact a qualied electrician.
1.1.7. Class II products are wired with live (brown) and neutral (blue) only and are marked with the
Class II symbol;
A) Connect the BROWN live wire to the live terminal ‘L’.
B) Connect the BLUE neutral wire to the neutral terminal ‘N’.
C) After wiring, check that there are no bare wires and ensure that all wires have been correctly connected.
1.1.8. Ensure that the cable outer sheath extends inside the cable restraint and that the restraint is tight.
8DO NOT connect either wire to the earth terminal.
1.1.9. Sealey recommend that repairs are carried out by a qualied electrician.
1.2. GENERAL SAFETY
WARNING! Disconnect lamp from mains power before changing tubes or performing any maintenance.
9Replace or repair damaged parts. Use genuine Sealey parts only. Non-genuine parts may be dangerous and will invalidate the warranty.
9Maintain the light in good condition. DO NOT use the light if damaged.
8DO NOT use light close to paint fumes, solvents or other flammable liquids or flammable waste, such as wipes or cleaning rags.
WARNING! Ensure the light is correctly charged before initial use.
8DO NOT allow children to use the light.
8DO NOT use if the battery or the lamp casing is damaged.
9 When not in use store the light in a safe, dry, childproof location.
1.3. BATTERY SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING! Powered by a sealed lead-acid battery which can be dangerous if not handled with care.
9Charge battery prior to first use. The battery pack will have been shipped in a low charge state. Minimum initial charge time 20 hours.
8DO NOT charge battery when room temperature is below 50°F (10°C) or above 104°F (40°C).
8DO NOT attempt to recharge the battery by means of a generator or a DC power source.
8DO NOT short-circuit the battery by linking both terminals with a metal object.
8DO NOT store the light in locations where the temperature may exceed 104°F (40°C) such as outside sheds, above heaters, or metal
buildings in summer.
WARNING! Dispose of spent battery correctly and in accordance with local regulations as it contains acid.
▲DANGER! DO NOT attempt to dismantle the battery pack. For safety and environmental reasons DO NOT discard in domestic waste
or by burning. ONLY discard or recycle according to local waste authority regulations.
WARNING! DO NOT allow a leaking battery to come into contact with skin. If contact with battery fluid occurs take immediate action:
a) Skin contact: Wash immediately with soap and water.
b) Eye contact: Flush eye immediately with cool, clean running water for at least 15 minutes, seek immediate medical attention.

2. INTRODUCTION
Twin daylight uorescent tubes suitable for applications where mains power is unavailable. Tubes can be selected to run individually or as
a pair from rechargeable cells. Includes an integrally stored mains cable for recharging only, electronic control allows unit to be used as an
emergency light, switching on the light in the event of mains power failure. Features carry handle and oor stand, can also be wall mounted.

4. OPERATION
4.1. CHARGING THE UNIT
4.1.1. The unit will charge when plugged into mains supply regardless of function switch
position. To achieve fastest charge put function switch to the ‘OFF’ position.
4.1.2. Open the power cable compartment at the back of the light. Uncoil the power
cable and plug it into the mains power supply. The red LED will light to
indicate the presence of mains power.
4.1.3. The battery pack will take approximately 20 hours to charge initially. Subsequent
charging times will depend on the state of discharge of the battery pack.
4.1.4. When charging is complete unplug the mains power cable and stow it back
in the compartment.
4.2. USING THE LIGHT
4.2.1. The function switch has three positions:- 1 Tube - OFF - Both Tubes
4.3.1. Select the required tube combination using the function switch.
4.2.2. The light will function as an emergency light if the function switch is placed in either the 1 or 2 tube position whilst connected to the mains.
In case of a mains electricity failure, the selected number of tubes will light. Restoration of mains power will switch the light off again.
4.2.3. After a full charge the light will run for approximately 1hr 30mins on two tubes and 3hrs on one tube.
NOTE! The green LED will illuminate whenever a tube should be lit. If the tubes DO NOT light and the green LED is illuminated,
suspect an unserviceable tube. The light has a TEST button feature to test the tubes. When the TEST button is pressed the
tubes should light up if connected to the mains. If any tubes fail to light up, they are likely to be unserviceable.
5. MAINTENANCE
WARNING! Before replacing the fluorescent tubes or performing any maintenance the unit must be unplugged from the mains. Allow the
tubes to cool before touching them.
WARNING! DO NOT turn the unit on with the transparent cover removed or with the tubes removed.
5.1. CHANGING THE FLUORESCENT TUBES
5.1.1. Replacement tubes must be the same type and rating as the original tubes supplied.
5.1.2. Remove the transparent cover by removing the two cover screws and lifting it away.
5.1.3. Each tube can be removed by rotating it in either direction until one of the connector pins appears at the top of the tube holder slot. Lift
out the old tube and replace it with a new one. Push the new tube all the way into the tube holder slots at both ends and then rotate
the tube a quarter of a turn in either direction.
5.1.4. Ensure that the tubes are correctly installed and seated before switching on.
5.2. CLEANING
5.2.1. Clean the unit with a damp cloth and a mild soapy solution. DO NOT use solvents or abrasive cleaners.

ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION
Recycle unwanted materials instead of disposing of them as waste. All tools, accessories and packaging should be sorted, taken to
a recycling centre and disposed of in a manner which is compatible with the environment. When the product becomes completely
unserviceable and requires disposal, drain any fluids (if applicable) into approved containers and dispose of the product and fluids
according to local regulations.
WEEE REGULATIONS
Dispose of this product at the end of its working life in compliance with the EU Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment
(WEEE). When the product is no longer required, it must be disposed of in an environmentally protective way. Contact your local solid
waste authority for recycling information.
BATTERY REMOVAL
Under the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009, Jack Sealey Ltd are required to inform potential purchasers of products
containing batteries (as defined within these regulations), that they are registered with Valpak’s registered compliance scheme. Jack
Sealey Ltd Batteries Producer Registration Number (BPRN) is BPRN00705.
