ll adiustments are not carried out correctly, the chain may come ott and this may cause
you to fall off the bicycle which could result in serious injury.
. Flead these Technical Service lnstructions carefully, and keep them in a safe place for
later reference.
Note
. Operation of the levers related to gear shitting should be made only when the front
chainwheel is turning.
. For smooth operation, use the specilied outer casing and the bottom bracket cable guide.
. Grease lhe inner cable and the inside o, ihe outer casing before use to ensure that ihey
slide properly.
. Use a frame with internal cable routing is strongly discouraged as it has tendencies to
impair the SIS shitting function due to its high cable resistance.
. A special grease is used ,or lhe gear shitting cable (S|S-SP41). Oo not use DUHA-ACE
grease or other types of grease, olheruise they may euse deteriomtion in gear shifting
performance.
. Parts are not guaranteed against natural wear or deterioralion resulting from normal use.
. For mdimum pertqrmance we highly recommend Shimano lubricants and maintenance
products.
. For any questions regarding melhods of installation, adjustment, maintenance or
operation, please contact a professional bicycle dealer.
Note when using the reach adjustment block (Pad spacer)
When imlalling the 8-degree reach adjustment block, us il mtomic-type tEndlebar.

When this happens, press lever ,Ol slighdy (to the point
where il clicks); this causes the lront demilleur to m@
slighdy toward the smaller chainring, thereby eliminalilg
the nde.
When 16€r Q) is operated, there is one click where
trimming (the noise prevention mechanism) engages, and
a secoli stronger click when the gear shitt stroke is
completed. After lrimming, the next push wiI complete the
gear shilt stroke. ff;

contact and generate noise when the chain is on the
smallest or intermediate chainring and on one of the
smaller sprockets, press lever (O slightly to move the fronl

eliminate the noise.

Shimano Total lntegration Features
The Shimano Total lntegEtion SORA series teatures a dual action controt lryer which
acluates lhe brakes like a conventional bEke lever, and shifts the geaB when moved inward
toward the center line of the bicycle. Gear shitting is ntr possible without ever taking your
hands ofl the brake hoods or drops.
ln order to realize the best performance, we recommend that the following
combination be used.

lnstallation to the handlebar
Secure the assembly with the
installation nut on the outside
of the bracket. Pull the bracket
cover back and use a 5 mm
Allen key to tighten lhe bolt.

Cutting the ouier casing
When cutting the outer casing, cut the opposite end to the end with
the marking. After cutting the outs msing, make the end round so
that the inside of the hole has a

1 . lnstall the outer stopper to the down tube

3. Fix the outer guide to the inner @ble, and sel lhe angled member
in the bracket.
Note: Do not wipe the grease on the inner eble off.
Also, be careful that the inner cable d@s not pick
up dust and foreign matter
4. Set the outer esing on the inner cable, and in the bEcket along
the outer guide.
Make sure that the innor
end is firmly sealed in the
cable hook.

5. Bring the outer casing along the front of the handlebar and cover it
with the outer guide. Now cut the outer gulde to the length of the
handlebar, and tape it temporarily in place.
