Installation
Windows 98SE
Do not connect the reader/writer until after
the driver has been installed.
1. Bootupyoursystemandinsertthedriver
CD.

2. Autorun should start the installation. If
Autorun does not start, click Start, then
Run. Type D:\Autorun.exe, then click
OK. (Change D: to match your CD-ROM
drive letter)
3. Click Install Device, follow on-screen
instructions to install the driver, then
restart Windows.
4. Connect the reader/writer to a USB port
and the drivers will load automatically.
Windows 2000
Windows 2000 with service pack 2 or earlier:
Do not connect the reader/writer until after
the driver has been installed.
1. Boot up your system and insert the driver
CD.
2. Autorun should start the installation. If
Autorun does not start, click Start, then
Run. Type D:\Autorun.exe, then click
OK. (Change D: to match your CD-ROM
drive letter)

3. Click Install Device, follow on-screen
instructions to install the driver, then
restart Windows.
4. Connect the reader/writer to a USB port
and the drivers will load automatically.
Windows 2000 with service pack 3 or later:
Important: Windows 2000 with sp3 or later
automatically detects and installs the correct
drivers for this reader/writer when connected.
No driver installation is needed. Refer to
Accessing Memory Cards, on page 9, for the
order in which the memory slots appear.
However, it's hard to distinguish one drive
from another unless you install the provided
software that labels each drive. If you choose
to install this optional software, please follow
the directions on page 4, under Windows 2000
with service pack 2 or earlier.

Windows ME/XP
Important: WindowsMEandXPautomatically
detects and installs the correct drivers for this
reader/writer when connected. No driver
installation is needed. Refer to Accessing
Memory Cards, on page 9, for the order in
which the memory slots appear.
However, it's hard to distinguish one drive
from another unless you install the provided
software that labels each drive. If you choose
to install this optional software, please follow
the directions below. This optional software is
only compatible in XP with SP1 installed.
1. Insert the driver CD. Autorun should
start the installation. If autorun does not
start, click Start, then Run. Type
D:\Autorun.exe, then click OK.
(ChangeD:tomatchyourCD-ROMdrive
letter)
2. Click Install device, then follow the on-
screen instructions to install the software.
Restart the computer to complete the
installation.

Windows Server 2003
Important:WindowsServer2003automatically
detects and installs the correct drivers for this
device. Refer to Accessing Memory Cards, on
page 9, for the order in which the memory slots
appear.
Mac OS X (v10.1.3) or later
MacOSX(v10.1.3)orlaterautomaticallydetects
and installs the correct drivers for this reader/
writer. No driver installation is needed.
UninstallingDriver/Software
For 98 SE Driver/ME Optional Software
1. Click Start, Settings, then Control Panel.
2. Double click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Click USB Storage Driver, then click
Add/Remove button.
4. Click Yes, then Ok.

For 2000 Driver/Optional Software
1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel.
2. Double click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Click Generic USB Mass Storage Driver,
then click Change/Remove.
4. Click Yes, then Ok.
For XP Optional Software
1. Click Start, Control Panel, Add or
Remove Programs.
2. Click Generic color icon driver, then
click Change/Remove.
3. Click Yes, then Ok.
InsertingMemoryCards
For CompactFlash, IBM MicroDrive, and
Memory Stick memory cards, insert with the
top label facing up.
For SmartMedia, MultiMediaCard, and
SecureDigital memory cards, insert with the
top label facing down and gold pins facing up.

RemovingMemoryCards
For Windows:
Memory cards can be removed at any time.
For Mac:
Drag the memory card's drive icon into the
Trashcan before removing it from the reader/
writer.
Important: Wait for the LED to stop flashing
before removing your memory card(s).
AccessingMemoryCards
When the USB 2.0 8-in-1 Reader/Writer is
successfully installed, four Removable Disk
icons appear in My Computer. To access any
onedrive,doubleclicktheiconthatcorresponds
to the memory card. The memory card slots
appear in this order: CF/Microdrive,
SmartMedia, SecureDigital/Multimediacard,
and Memory Stick respectively.
