1.0 INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the Silva Ex-Ped Pulse.
The Silva Ex-Ped Pulse providesTimekeeping, Chronograph, Countdown Timer,
Exercise functions Heart Rate Measurement and Pedometer functions.
To get the most of your purchase, be sure to read this manual carefully and keep
it on hand for later reference when necessary. It is advisable to use this Watch in
conformity with the below notes:
- Avoid exposing the Watch to the extreme conditions.
- Avoid rough uses or severe impacts to the Watch.
- Do not open the Watch case unless performed by a certified service agency.
- Clean the Watch occasionally with a soft and moistened cloth.
- Store the Watch in a dry place and enter the Power Saving mode (battery can
last longer) when it is not in use for a long time.

HomeTime Display
- The day of week and the date of the
home time are displayed on the 1st
row of the display.
- The current time (hour, minute,
second) is exhibited on the 2nd row of
the display.
DualTime Display
- The home time is exhibited on the 1st
row of the display.
- The dual time (hour, minute, second)
is exhibited on the 2nd row of the
display.
How to switch the display between
HomeTime and DualTime
- Press [S/S] in Home Time Mode to
display dual time for about 2 seconds.
- Press [S/S] in Dual Time Mode to dis-
play Home Time for about 2 seconds.
- Hold down [S/S] for about 2 seconds
to switch the display between Home
Time and Dual Time.

How to Select a Setting
In Home Time Mode, hold down [M] to
enter the setting selection:
- Press [S/R] or [S/S] to move the
display among different settings from
Setting 1 to 10
- If the target setting is displayed,
press [M] to enter that setting. Hold
down [M] to exit the setting.
TIPS: To exit all settings and return to
Home Time Mode, hold down [M] for
over 3 seconds.

How to Set HomeTime
In Setting 1 of 10, press [M] to enter
the setting display:
- Press [M] to move the flashing
(setting).
- When the second digits start flashing,
press [S/S] or [S/R] to reset them to
zero.
- When one of the settings is flashing,
press [S/S] or [S/R] to change the set-
ting (Holding down [S/S] or [S/R] to the
change setting faster).
- When 12/24 hour format or D-M/M-D
date format is selected, press [S/S] or
[S/R] to select.
If the setting is completed, hold down
[M] to exit the setting display.

How to Set AlarmTime
In Setting 2 of 10 or Alarm mode, press
[M] to enter the setting display:
- Press [M] to enter ‘hour’ and ‘minute’
setting.
- Press [S/S] or [S/R] to change the
setting (Holding down [S/S] or [S/R] to
change the setting faster).
- When the setting is completed, the
alarm indicator will appear on the
display
- If the setting is completed, hold down
[M] to exit the setting display.
Note To turn off the alarm function,
press [S/S] under the alarm mode.

How to Set Pedometer
- In Pedometer display, press [M] to
enter the following setting:
1. Target alarm ON / OFF
2. Sensitivity level

In ‘Set Target Alarm ‘press [M] to
select ON and to enter to Set Target
steps and Set Target Distance display:
- Press [M] to move the flashing
(setting).
- Press [S/S] or [S/R] to change the
setting (Hold down [S/S] or [S/R] to
change the numbers continuously).
If the setting is completed, holding
down [M] to exit the testing display.

- Sensitivity Level: Adjusts the Pedom-
eter to user’s walking or running pace.
- Sleep Time: Sets the waiting time
for the Pedometer before it enters
the Sleep Mode when NO step is
detected.
How to Set the Sensitivity and
SleepTime
In ‘Pedometer Setting’ 4 of 10, press
[M] to enter the setting display:
- Press [M] to move the flashing
(setting).
- Press [S/S] or [S/R] to change the
setting (Hold down [S/S] or [S/R] to
change the numbers continuously).

TIPS: To decide the most suitable sen-
sitivity level, walk or run while being in
this mode to
start the beeps. Choose the current
level if the beeping is matched with
the pace of the walk or run. Try another
level if it does not.
If the setting is completed, hold down
[M] to exit the testing display.

- Clear Daily Record: Clear the daily
record for the current day.
How to Save/Clear the Exercise

- In Setting 5 of 10, press [M] to enter
the setting display:
NOTE: If NO exercise information has
been acquired, the ‘Save this Event’ or
‘Clear this Event’ Display will NOT be
shown.
- Press [S/S] or [S/R] to select between
‘YES’ or ‘NO’ display. Press [M] in ‘YES’
Display to confirm the ‘Save’ or ‘Clear’.
- If the setting is completed, hold down
[M] to exit the setting display
Tips: If the setting is completed, it ac-
cumulates to the current day memory.
The unsaved event accumulates to
the current day memory automati-
cally at midnight (12:00 am) and the
exercise mode is resetted for a new day
recording.

How to review Exercise History
Exercise History: This function is
providing the exercise memory for the
user. You can review the data which
the watch stored.
Follow the chapter 4.0 to enter in to
the Quick set mode (6 of 10), press [M]
to enter the testing display:
Daily record: the daily record of the
current day and the last consecutive
7 days.
Weekly record: the weekly record of
the last consecutive 10 weeks.
How to review the data:
Press [S/R] to select between daily
record and weekly record. If a target
record type is selected, press [S/S] to
select among the days or weeks.
- Scroll the [M] to review the exercise
information (time, speed and distance
and the calorie burned)
- Hold down [M] to exit the testing
display.

- Set the target time for the timer by
using this setting.
- The target time can be set up to 23
hours 59 minutes 59 seconds.
How to Set the CountdownTimer
- In Setting 7 of 10, press [M] to enter
the setting display or
- In Countdown Timer Display, hold
down [M] to enter the setting display.
- Press [M] to select the setting items
(flashing).
- Press [S/S] or [S/R] to change the
setting (Hold down [S/S] or [S/R] to
change the numbers continuously).
NOTE: The timer cannot be set if it is
counting, and the display will redirect
to Countdown Time Mode instead.
- If the setting is completed, hold down
[M] to exit the testing display.

Personal Profile Setting
- Set user personal profile (gender, unit,
weight, walking, running, stride distance
and birthday) by using this setting.
IMPORTANT: Set the Personal Profile
before using the Watch, otherwise some
Exercise
Mode features will NOT perform
properly.
How to Set the Personal Profile
In Setting 8 of 10, press [M] to enter the
setting display:
- Press [M] to move the flashing (setting).
- Press [S/S] or [S/R] to change the set-
ting (Hold down [S/S] or [S/R] to change
the numbers continuously).

TIPS: Walk/run on a defined distance
(e.g. 100 meters), and count the number
of steps (e.g. 200 steps) for accomplish-
ing that distance.The average stride
distance will be obtained by: 100 /200 =
0.5 m or 50 cm.
- If the setting is completed, hold down
[M] to exit the setting display.

- Set user preferences (hourly chime,
key tone and LCD contrast) by using
this setting.
How to Set the System
- In Setting 9 of 10, press [M] to enter
the setting display:
- Press [M] to move the flashing
(setting)
- When the hourly chime ‘ON’ or ‘OFF’
is flashing, press [S/S] or [S/R] to select
between ON and OFF.
NOTE: The hourly chime indicator
‘ ‘ appears on the display in all modes
when the hourly chime is ON. The
chime will beep at the hour. i.e 1:00,
2:00, 3:00...
- When the ‘LCD Contrast’ setting is
flashing, press [S/S] or [S/R] to change
the setting (Hold down [S/S] or [S/R] to
change the numbers continuously).
- If the setting is completed, hold down
[M] to exit the setting display.

1. A heart rate contact [S2] is located
on the back of the watch. It must be
firmly contact with the user’s skin dur-
ing measurement.
2. DO NOT take heart rate measure-
ment when diving or under water.
3. Clean the [S2] occasionally by apply-
ing a few drops of water and wipe it
dry with a paper towel to remove any
residual grease.
4. DO NOT use hand cream; it will
insulate the signal between the skin
and the sensors.
5. Clean skin and fingers with soap and
water for better signal transmission.
6. DO NOT use the fingertips where
the skin is dry and thick. For those with
extremely dry
skin, moisten fingers and wrist with
tap water or apply a conductive gel
may help.
7. Hold the watch firmly when taking
measurement in motion.
8. During measurement, avoid any
sudden and fast movements as it will
create undesired muscle noise and
thereby may disturb the measurement.

What is Heart Rate Zone
Some particular training/exercise
objectives like ‘fitness’, ‘fat burn’ or
‘health’ that require trainees/exerciser
maintaining their heart rate (exercise
pace) within one particular heart rate
zone during the exercise.
This watch features a lower limit, upper
limit and heart rate alert ‘ON/OFF’
setting.
How to SetYour Heart Rate Zone
- To switch to the setting display, press
[M] in Quick Set Mode (3 of 10).
- Press [M] to switch the setting follow-
ing the adjacent diagram
- Press [S/S] or [S/R] to change the
setting (Hold down [S/S] or [S/R] to
change the setting faster).
- The Watch will exit the setting display
if NO key-stroke has been activated for
1 minute.
Note: It is advisable to inquiry the doc-
tor or your trainer to set the heart rate
% for your exercise
