SECTION 1
GENERAL
Each 4100 Fire Alarm System is a factory-configured, hard-wired fire alarm system that provides for up to 1,000
points. Each point can consist of (a) one or more alarm initiating devices, (b) one or more signal appliances, (c) an
auxiliary relay, or (d) a feedback circuit. In addition, if software changes are needed, it’s possible to reconfigure a
4100 at the job site.
NOTE: If the system connects to a municipal fire alarm system, the city connection is considered as one point.

MASTER CONTROLLER BOARD (562-771)
Controls and supervises all system modules. The board itself includes:

l Feedback Circuits 1 and 2
l Fuses for the above circuits
l The System Trouble Relay output
l The CPU Reset Switch (push button)

l Local Annunciator interface (via a built-in 64/64 LED/Switch Controller)

Switches
SW1 = 4-switch package. Switch positions:
l SW1 -1 = Left (open) = Normal; Right (closed) when downloading into C-FIG RAM (U45).
l SW1 -2 = Right (closed) = Normal; Left (open) causes system to operate from U45 (optional RAM).
l SW1 -3 and SW1 -4 = Unused. ALWAYS LEAVE OPEN (LEFT).
SW2 = CPU reset switch. “Warm starts” the system (initializes the system without causing memory loss).
l Press to clear a system “lock up,” or to restore the system following access level 4 (Simplex Service Mode)
operation.
NOTE: Master Controller Software Revision 2.02 (and earlier) does not protect the DISABLE or MANUAL
OVERRIDE state following a warm start.

UT MASTER CONTROLLERS (565-148 and 565-333)
Two types of UT Master Controllers are available, each can be identified by the name and number it bears. Both
cards are a re-design of the 4100 Master Controller. The monitor zones, signal circuits, auxillary relays, feedback
and local annunciator points on the 4100 Master have been removed. Both cards contain the following
