trawl,orthecorrecttimingofapurseseine.
Assuch,thecatchmonitoringsystemallowsyoutostayinfullcontrolofthegearand

Thesystemisdesignedtobeequallyusefulforallshingtypes.Bottomtrawlers,
pelagictrawlers,purseordanishseiners-whateverkindofgearyouuse,allvesselscan
takeadvantageofthefunctionalityprovidedbythePI50.

mustbebasedontheMicrosoftWindows®7operating
system.Itmustfurtherbedesignedforruggeduse,
andshouldbeabletowithstandthevibrationsand
movementsofavessel.
Thecomputerisnormallymountedinthewheelhouse.
NotethatthecomputerisnotastandardpartofthePI50delivery.Simradmayprovidea

PI50withoptimalreceptionfromthesensors
onapurseseine.
Thisspecicbeampatternisespeciallysuited
forpurseseiningandthewidecoveragearea
reducestheneedforcarefulalignment.
Trawlhydrophone
Thehullmountedhydrophonefortrawlingoperationshasa50degreeshorizontalbeam
anda30degreesverticalbeamtoprovidethePI50withoptimalreceptionfromthe
sensorsonabottomorpelagictrawl.
Thisspecicbeampatternisespeciallysuitedfortrawlingandthewidecoveragearea
reducestheneedforcarefulalignment.

5SwitchofftheSensorReceiver.
TheSensorReceiverisnotttedwithanon/offswitch.Y oumayleavetheunit

Likemostcomputerizedapplications,thePI50isoperatedusingamouse(ortrackball)
andanoptionalkeyboard.
Important
Inthismanual,thephrase“click”meansthatyoushallplacethecursoroverthespecied
button,eldorfunction,andpresstheleftmouse(ortrackball)buttononce.Thephrase
“double-click”meansthatyoushallpressthemousebuttontwicerapidly.
Thephrase“press”meansthatyoushallpressaphysicalbuttonwithyournger,for
exampleacharacterbuttonortheEnterkeyonthekeyboard.

Themouse(ortrackball)controlsthecursormovementonthePI50presentation.By
movingthecursoroverthevariousinformationprovidedonthedisplay,andclickingthe
leftmousebutton,youareabletocontrolalloperation.
Tip
Ifyouareleft-handed,theWindowsoperatingsystemallowsyoutoredenethemouse
buttons.Youcanthenchoosetoclickwiththerightbutton.

Thesubmenusareopenedandclosedbyclicking
thebuttonsatthebottomoftheMainmenu.
Thepresentationofthevariousviewsaremade
automatically,andthesizeofeachviewdependsonthespaceavailable.WhennoTrend
viewsareopen,theSensorviewswillstretchfromthelefttotherightedgeofthe
presentation.WhenaTrendviewisopened,itwillpositionitselfontheleftside,and
thesizeoftheSensorviewswillbereducedbyremovingtheHistoryeld.Ifadditional
Trendviewsareopened,theywillbepositionedontopofeachother,andthevertical
sizeofeachviewisadjustedautomatically.
TheorderoftheSensorviewsisdenedbythesettingmadeintheSelectSensorsdialog
box.ThelocationoftheTrendviewsdonotfollowhisorder.Thersttrendviewlls
theentireverticalspace,thenextareplacedontopoftherstinthesameorderthey
areopened.
