Congratulations on your pur hase of the Site om MD-270/WL-355 TV Media Player.
The MD-270/WL-355 TV Media Player supports playba k of the most ommon file
formats of digital video, audio and photo media. Atta h the media player via standard
AV or HDMI ables to a standard or high-definition TV.

Power Turn the MD-270 on or off.

Playback
Buttons
Standard playba k fun tions for Play/Pause, Fast Forward, Fast
Reverse and Stop.
Previous/Next Play or view the previous file or next file in the folder.
Search Go to the Sear h menu.
Info Toggle information about the file urrently playing.

4Getting Started
Before beginning the installation, please read through the installation pro edure
des ribed in this manual.
Installation Requirements
To begin using the MD-270/WL-355 TV Media Player, you will need:
• A television set (TV) with either a HDMI onne tion or available AV omposite
able onne tions for audio and video.
• The MD-270/WL-355 TV Media Player onne ted to the TV.
• A USB hard disk or USB flash memory devi e with a USB 2.0 able ontaining
media files (video, musi and digital photos).
Installation Procedure
The MD-270/WL-355 TV Media Player installation pro edure is summarized below:
1. Transfer digital video, digital photo and digital musi or audio files to a USB
external hard disk.
2. Conne t the TV Media Player to a TV, stereo amplifier or entertainment system.
3. Conne t the power to the TV Media Player.
4. Conne t the USB hard disk ontaining stored digital media to the TV Media Player
and power on the hard disk.
5. Conne t the Ethernet able to the Ethernet port (if the devi e is used on a lo al
network).
Transfer Media files to USB storage
Transfer your favourite ontent, like your musi , videos and photos, from your
omputer to your external USB drive. You don’t need to put these files in any order,
the TV Media Player will sort them out in the right ategories for Musi , Videos and
Photos.
Connecting the MD-270/WL-355
Below is a summary of the audio and video onne tion options. The pages that follow
have illustrations of the various onne tion types.
Video Connections
To onne t video to your TV, there are two options. If your TV or home entertainment
system is equipped with a HDMI port, use a HDMI able for the video and audio
onne tion. Alternatively, the media player video output an be supplied through the
omposite video onne tion (yellow oloured ja k). Both the omposite and HDMI
onne tions an be used simultaneously, however optimizing the video settings for
HDMI (su h as the aspe t ratio), might affe t the appearan e of the omposite video
output.

• Composite Video
Plug the yellow plug of the video able into the Video onne tor on the rear panel
of the MD-270/WL-355 and the opposite end of the able into the omposite video
in onne tor on your TV.
• HDMI Video
Plug the HDMI able into the HDMI onne tor on the ba k panel of the MD-
270/WL-355. Plug the opposite end to the mat hing HDMI onne tor on your
television or audio video system. HDMI provides the best video quality resolution
up to 1080p, plus audio support.

Audio Connections
The MD-270/WL-355 supports S/PDIF opti al digital and RCA analogue onne tions
for the stereo audio signal. Both onne tions an be used simultaneously.
• Analogue Audio (RCA)
Plug the supplied red and white onne tors into the olour- oded Audio
onne tors on the rear panel of the MD-270/WL-355. Conne t the red plugs to the
Right (R) ja ks and the white plugs to the Left (L) ja ks on the MD-270 and the
TV or stereo amplifier to whi h it is onne ted.
• Optical Digital Audio (S/PDIF)
Plug the S/PDIF onne tor of an S/PDIF ompatible able (not in luded) into the
S/PDIF onne tion on the rear panel of the MD-270/WL-355. Plug the onne tor
other end of the able into the S/PDIF onne tion on the DVD player, game
onsole or other devi e.

Connect power to the MD-270/WL-355
Conne t the supplied 12V 2A DC adapter to a free wall so ket. Conne t the other end
to the designated port on the ba k of the TV Media Player.
Connect USB storage to the MD-270/WL-355
Conne t the USB memory devi e to the TV Media Player.
The TV Media Player automati ally sear hes the disk for supported media ontent. If
there is a large volume of digital media, it might take several minutes to ompletely
s an the disk, however the files that have already been s anned an be played. Some
USB hard drives require a separate power sour e to use it, so make sure the USB disk
is powered on and onne ted. Often USB hard disks have LED indi ators that let you
know if it is powered on and if it is onne ted. Che k the user guide of the USB hard
disk for more information.

Connect Ethernet to the MD-270/WL-355 (Optional)
The MD-270/WL-355 in ludes an Ethernet port to onne t the TV Media Player to a
lo al network in order to use digital media stored on servers onne ted to the
network. Conne t a Cat5 or higher ertified able to the designated port on the TV
Media Player. Conne t the other end of the able to a hub, swit h, modem or router.

5Navigating the menu
On e the TV Media Player is onne ted to a USB hard disk ontaining digital media
files it automati ally begins sear hing for supported media. The TV Media Player an
be used while it is still s anning for ontent. Turn on the TV and dire t it to the input
used for the TV Media Player to view the main menu interfa e. If this is the first time
a essing the interfa e or if the TV Media Player has just been powered on, the first
item in the menu that appears is the All Video sele tion lo ated in the Video Dire tory.
The Home menu is the main menu for using the TV Media Player. To return to the
Home menu at anytime, press the Home menu button in the top right orner of
the remote ontrol. The Home menu is arranged by media type (Musi , Video and
Photo) and a Settings dire tory used to set system and menu preferen es. Use the
navigation and menu buttons on the remote ontrol to move to the desired dire tory
or down through the menus with in a dire tory. Press the O button to view the
highlighted menu or dire tory.
•Press the Arrow buttons left or right, up and down to highlight an
i on.
•Press O to view the ontents or play the highlighted sele tion.
•Press the Option button to view the playba k options menu for the media
type.
•Press Info to toggle information about the sele ted file or file playing.
•Press the Back button to return to the previous menu.
•Press Search to go to the file sear h menu.

6Playing Videos
Sele t the Video option in the main menu and s roll down to the video menu option
you want. The available options for video sele tion are All Video, By Date (sele t by
date added), Folders (sele t by folder on the USB memory devi e), Re ent (sele t
from a list of re ently played videos) and Network Media (sele t from UPnP or shared
drives).
Note: If the Media Library function has been disabled, Video media files will not be
organized into categories. See the Settings section for more information on the Media
Library.
Use the navigation buttons on the remote ontrol to s roll through the available video
files. Press O to sele t the video or folder.
Video Playback
Use the Play/Pause , Fast Forward , Reverse and Stop buttons to
ontrol playba k. Use the Play Next button to play the next video on the list. Use
the Play Previous button to play the previous video on the list. To see the
default subtitle font size, go to the Settings -> Playba k menu. See the des ription in
the Settings se tion.

Video Playback Options
To view the video ontrol i ons, press the Option button on the remote ontrol
unit. Use the left/right navigation buttons on the remote ontrol to move the
sele tor and press the O button to sele t the fun tion you want to use. Press the
Option button again to hide the video ontrol i ons.
Subtitle Language: Here you an sele t different subtitle languages.
Subtitle Font Size: Here you an sele t the subtitle font size. You an
hoose between small, medium and large.
Other Options: Here you an sele t other subtitle options, su h as subtitle
position, subtitle olour and subtitle delay and advan e.
Audio Tra k: Here you an sele t the different audio tra ks, if available.

7Playing Music
Sele t the Music option in the main menu and s roll down to the musi menu option
you want. The available options for musi sele tion are All, Artists, Genres, Albums,
Artist Album, By Date (sele t by date added), Folders (sele t by folder on the USB
memory devi e) and Re ent (sele t from a list of re ently played musi ), Playlist
(requires playlist metadata files from popular media player software su h as iTunes or
Winamp) and Network Media (sele t from UPnP or shared drives).
Note: If the Media Library function has been disabled, Audio files will not be organized
into categories. See cha ter 11 for more information on the Media Library.
Use the navigation buttons on the remote ontrol to s roll through the available musi
files. Press O to sele t the file or folder.
Music Playback
Use the Play/Pause , Fast Forward , Reverse and Stop buttons to
ontrol playba k. Use the Play Next button to play the next musi tra k on the
list. Use the Play Previous button to play the previous musi tra k on the list. To
set the default audio playba k options for shuffle, repeat and repeat all, go to the
Settings -> Playba k menu. See the des ription in hapter 11.

Music Playback Options
During playba k of a song, you an hange the playba k options.
Press the Option button on the remote ontrol, you should see the option menu
appear on the top of the page.
Press O to hange the playba k mode. Look for the playba k mode i on on the
right of the playba k progress bar.
The playba k modes are:
Repeat all: All the audio files in the urrent musi folder/playlist are played
in sequen e and repeatedly until you press STOP or BACK.
Repeat one: The urrent audio tra k is played repeatedly until you press
STOP or BACK.
Shuffle: Use this option to set the audio tra ks in the urrent musi
folder/playlist to play in random order.

8Showing Photos
Sele t the Photos option in the main menu and s roll down to the photo menu option
you want. The available options for photo sele tion are All, By Date (sele t by date
added), Folders (sele t by folder on the USB memory devi e), Re ent (sele t from a
list of re ently shown photos) and Network Media (sele t from UPnP or shared drives).
Use the navigation buttons on the remote ontrol to s roll through the available photo
files. Press O to sele t the photo or folder.
Photo Playback
Use the left/right navigation buttons on the remote ontrol to show the next
or previous photo. Use the Play/Pause and Stop buttons to ontrol a
slideshow. To see the default slideshow settings, go to the Settings -> Slideshow
menu. See the des ription in hapter 11.
