SMC´s line of media converters offers a flexible and affordable solution
for quick and efficient media conversion. Compatible with IEEE standards,
SMC´s 12-slot, Media Converter Chassis gives the user a dedicated and secure
environment for multiple media conversion applications. SMC provides a
variety of media converters that can be incorporated into the 19“ rack-mount
Media Converter Chassis or may be used individually as single, stand-alone
media converters. Each media converter is sold separately and comes with an
external power adapter for stand-alone use.
Flexibility - The Chassis supports up to 12 individual media converters
covering 10BASE-T to 10BASE-FL, 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX
and Gigabit 1000BASE-T to Gigabit SX / LX, conversion. In addition, both
multimode and single-mode options are supported.
Reliability - The Chassis also supports two high quality hot swappable power
supplies. Either Power unit can be removed without disturbing the Chassis’s
operation – offering total efficiency, maximum redundancy and minimum
down time. Each module is supplied from a common shared power bus –
but as an added precaution, each is individually protected in the event of a
problem on the bus or from the power supply. Each Converter can also be
changed without power down.
Functionality - The Chassis was carefully designed to offer a lifetime of
operation. Incorporated into the Chassis are three long life cooling fans to
ensure a cool operating environment. Each fan is monitored and connected
