11Mbps Wireless Bridge
Designed to connect two or more Local Area Networks
(usually located in a different building), the SMC Wireless
bridge is the easiest alternati e to a wired network. It
deli ers high data rates and allows users in a corporate
campus en ironment to access all local and remote
network resources. The SMC2682W is also a highly cost-
effecti e solution, as it eliminates the need for expensi e
cabling and difficult-to-install leased lines.
The SMC2682W may be configured to operate as bridge
master or bridge sla e. When set to bridge master mode,
the bridge will also function as a access point allowing
connection of wireless clients to the wired LAN (only one
bridge may act as a bridge master). SMC’s wireless bridge
therefore supports mobile users, temporary work sites,
difficult to wire en ironments, and remote access to
corporate network data. The SMC2682W also allows
multiple buildings to share a single internet connection. In
addition, this de ice supports a 64-bit or 128-bit WEP and
MAC address filtering to ensure secure network
transmission.
Wireless technology pro ides the ultimate in user mobility,
simple and flexible installation options and affordability.
In a typical configuration a wireless bridge connects to a
wired LAN. It will support up to 1,024 users with a range of
14Km when used in conjunction with an external antenna
with a point to point connection. Users access the LAN ia
SMC wireless adapters in their notebook or desktops PCs.
