Operation
Theaerialplatformhasbuilt-insafetyfeaturesandhas
beenfactorytestedforcompliancewithSnorkelspecifi-
cationsandindustrystandards.However,anypersonnel
liftingaerialplatformcanbepotentiallydangerousinthe
handsof untrainedorcareless operators.
Warning
Thepotentialforanaccident increaseswhenthe
aerialplatformisoperatedbypersonnelwho are
nottrainedandauthorized.Death orseriousin-
jurycouldresultfrom suchaccidents.Readand
understand theinformation inthismanualand on
theplacardsand decalson themachinebefore
operating theaerial platformon thejob.
Trainingisessentialandmustbeperformedbyaqual-
ifiedperson.
•Becomeproficient inknowledgeandactualopera-
tion beforeusingtheaerialplatformonthejob.
•The operatormustbe trained andauthorized to
performanyfunctionsof theaerialplatform.
•Operation of theaerialplatform must be withinthe
scopeof the machinespecifications.

allmanufacturer’sinstructionsandwarnings,regulations
andsafetyrulesoftheiremployerand/oranystate or
federallaw.

Maintenance
Completemachineinspectionconsistsofperiodicvi-
sualandoperationalchecks,alongwithperiodicminor
adjustmentsthat assureproperperformance.Daily
inspectionwillpreventabnormalwearandprolongthe
lifeofallsystems.Theinspectionandmaintenance
scheduleshouldbeperformedatthespecifiedintervals
andafterprolonged periodsofstoragebeforereturning
themachine to service.Inspectionandmaintenance
shallbeperformedbypersonnelwho aretrainedand
familiarwith mechanicalandelectricalprocedures.
Everypersonwhomaintains,inspects,tests,orrepairs
theaerialplatformmustbequalifiedtodoso.Following
thedailyprestartinspectioninthisOperator’sManual
willhelpkeeptheaerialplatforminoptimumworking
condition. Othermaintenancefunctionsmustbeper-
formedbymaintenancepersonnelwhoarequalified
towork on theaerialplatform.
Caution
Welding current canbeveryintense.Damageto
electroniccomponentsmayresult.Connectthe
groundclamp as close as possible tothearea
being welded.Disconnectbattery cables and any
microprocessorsand enginecontrolmodules
beforewelding on themachine.
Ifitbecomesnecessaryto weldaerialplatformcom-
ponentsasamethodof repair,takeallprecautionsto
preventdamage toelectroniccircuitry anddeviceson
themachine.This includes,butmaynotbelimitedto,
disconnectingbattery cablesand electronic devices.
Donotmodifythisaerialplatformwithout priorwrit-
tenconsentoftheSnorkelEngineeringDepartment.
Modificationmayvoidthewarranty,adverselya ect
stability,ora ecttheoperationalcharacteristics ofthe
aerialplatform.

Makesuretheareabelowtheplatformis freeofper-
sonnelbefore lowering.
Keepboth feet positioned firmly ontheplatform floor.
ŸOperatethecontrolsslowlyanddeliberatelytoavoid
jerky anderratic operation.

theopposite direction.

Tip-Overand Falling Hazards
Operatetheaerialplatformonlyona firm, flat, level

wheelloadanddrive/liftlevelsensorinterlock informa-
tion. Raisetheplatformonly whentheaerialplatform
is onlevelground.
Theaerialplatformcantipoverifitbecomesunsta-
ble.Deathorseriousinjurywillresultfromatip-over
accident.Donotdriveorpositiontheaerialplatform
forelevatedusenearanydrop-off,hole,slope, soft
orunevenground,orothertip-overhazard.Donot
raisetheplatformoutdoorsinwind speedsabove
28 mph (12.5m/s).
Donotoperatetheaerialplatformwithin4′(1.2m)of
anydrop-o orhole.
Donotraisetheplatforminwindsabove28mph(12.5
m/s). Donot addanythingtotheaerialplatformthatwill
increasethewindloading suchasbillboards, banners,
flags, etc.
Itis bestnottotransferfromtheplatformtoanother
structureorfromthestructuretotheplatform,unless
thatisthesafestwaytodothe job.Judgeeachsituation
separatelytakingthework environmentintoaccount. If
itis necessary totransferfromtheplatformto another
structurethefollowingguidelinesapply:
1. Ifyouareusingafall restraint, transferyouranchor-
agefromonestructuretotheotherbeforestepping
across.
2. Rememberthat youmight be transferring to a
structurewhere personalfall arrest is required.
3. Usetheplatformentrance,do notclimboveror
throughtheguardrails.
Neveroperatetheaerialplatformwithout allpartsofthe
guardrail systeminplaceandtheentry doors closed.
Makesurethat allprotectiveguards,cowlings,and
doorsaresecurely fastened.
Donotexceedtheplatformcapacitynortheplatform-ex-
tension capacityasindicated on the platformrating
placardontheplatform.Donotcarryloadsthatextend
beyondtheplatformguardrailswithoutpriorwritten
consent fromSnorkel.

foranypurposeotherthantopositionpersonnel,tools,
andmaterials.
Donotclimbontheguardrails oruseladders,planks,
orotherdevicestoextendorincreasetheworkposition
fromtheplatform.
Takecaretopreventrope,electricalcords,and hoses,
etc., frombecomingcaughtinorontheaerialplatform.
ŸIftheplatformorscissorsstructurebecomescaught
onanadjacentstructureorotherobstacleandis
preventedfromnormalmotion,reversethecontrol
tofreethe platform.
ŸIfcontrolreversaldoesnotfreetheplatform,evacu-
ate theplatformbeforeattemptingtofree it.
Electrical System
Chargethebatteriesinawell-ventilatedareafreeof
flame,sparks,orotherhazardsthatmight cause fire
orexplosion.
Donotoperateanyoftheaerialplatformfunctionswhile
thebattery chargerispluggedin.
Warning
Batteriesgiveoffhydrogenand oxygenthatcan
combine explosively. Deathorserious injury could
resultfrom achemical explosion.Donotsmoke or
permitopen flames orsparks whenchecking the
batteries.

GeneralSafetyRules
Thisaerialworkplatformis intended tolift persons,
theirtoolsandmaterialsusedforthe job. Itis designed
forrepair,assembly,andassignmentsat workplaces
abovehead height (ceilings,cranes,roof structures,
buildings,etc.).Usesoralterationsto theaerialwork
platformmust beapprovedbySnorkel.
Thisaerialwork platformisnotinsulated.Refertoap-

Exceeding thespecified permissiblemaximum load is
